Recognizing the newcomer, the worried-looking doctor breathed a sigh of relief. Skylar Hayes did the same, relieved that her daughter hadn’t been struck.

Chloe Grant, her wrist suddenly caught in a firm grip, was fuming with nowhere to vent her anger. She whipped her head around and began to shout at the person, "You must have a death wish! How dare you—"

But the moment she saw the man’s face, she swallowed her words.

"President Q-Quinn, what are you doing here?"

How could she be so unlucky as to have Seth Quinn witness this? She was still hoping to sign with Aegis, and he was the president! Leaving a bad impression on him would definitely affect her contract negotiations.

Even though her father had saved his father’s life, Seth Quinn was known for being strictly professional, refusing to mix business with personal affairs. He showed no favoritism, not even to his own family.

If she had always maintained a good impression, and her father put in a good word for her, things might have been easy. But if his impression of her was poor, then it wouldn’t matter who spoke on her behalf; it would be useless.

With this in mind, Chloe Grant shot an angry glare at Ivy Vance out of the corner of her eye, blaming her for not being sharp enough to give her a warning.

Ivy Vance felt she was being unfairly blamed. She had been following orders, trying to take photos with her phone, and Seth Quinn had moved so fast that she hadn’t noticed him either.

Meanwhile, Clara Grant, who had raised her own arm to block Chloe’s impending slap only to see someone beat her to it, turned her head and came face-to-face with Seth Quinn.

She hadn’t expected to see Seth Quinn here of all places, and she froze for a moment. Then she noticed that, in addition to his usual stern and icy expression, the man’s face now held a faint trace of anger.

’I was the one who almost got hit,’ she thought. ’What’s he so angry about?’

’Could it be? Is he angry because I was almost hit?’

She found herself staring blankly at Seth Quinn until he roughly flung Chloe Grant’s hand away and said coldly, "Who gave you the nerve to come here and cause a scene with her?"

His voice snapped Clara Grant back to reality. Realizing she had been staring at him dumbly for so long, she felt her cheeks grow warm.

She quickly averted her gaze, looking away.

"President Quinn, I... I was just defending the Grant family’s honor," Chloe Grant explained hastily, desperate to salvage her image in Seth Quinn’s eyes.

"Clara Grant had a child out of wedlock. Even though she’s moved out of the family home, in the eyes of the public, she’s still my father’s biological daughter. This shameless act of hers will naturally tarnish the Grant family’s name."

"Defending the Grant family’s honor?" Seth Quinn’s voice was as cold as ice. "And slapping her is supposed to accomplish that?

"Besides, what honor does the Grant family even have left to speak of? Cedric Grant abandoned his wife and daughter to welcome his mistress and illegitimate daughter into the family. Hasn’t your father already destroyed the family’s reputation with his own two hands?"

Chloe Grant clearly hadn’t expected Seth Quinn to be so mercilessly blunt. Her face went pale, whether from anger or humiliation, it was hard to tell.

Clara Grant, however, found his words incredibly satisfying. She couldn’t stop herself from shooting Chloe Grant a smug, defiant look.

"And another thing. Are you absolutely certain this is Clara Grant’s illegitimate child?"

As the two women processed this with vastly different emotions, Seth Quinn spoke again, his attention still fixed on Chloe Grant.

"If you’re just spouting nonsense here without any concrete evidence, we can sue you for defamation!"

If Chloe Grant hadn’t understood why Seth Quinn had suddenly appeared, it was all starting to make sense to her now.

But when had Clara Grant gotten to know Seth Quinn? And to the point where he would go to such lengths to defend her?
