Chapter 175: MAKE THEM STOP

Khaos had told Zuri everything. Rhett was not part of the last ritual. He was not even informed and he was actually the one, who had suggested to go to the Great Palace, as he remembered there was a discussion about it.

However, it didn’t mean, it would cease Zuri’s hatred toward her brother. Khaos didn’t ask her to forgive him either. He only briefed her what happened.

"Are you hallucinating again?" Rhett asked. He must have entered the room when Zuri was in the bathroom and was aware that Khaos was not here, or else, he wouldn’t be so bold to sneak inside, knowing the lycan was in his last rope of killing him.

"Get out." Zuri’s voice was murderous, but Rhett ignored it.

"I really want to talk with you," Rhett said, he took a step closer, but Zuri growled dangerously at him. This reaction made Rhett clenched his teeth.

Zuri used to be so happy whenever she saw him, she was beaming, telling him that he was the best brother for her. Her eyes would sparkle, as if there was a star. But, right now she was full of hatred.

With how they were right now, Rhett believed that Zuri would like to flay him herself. Once the truth came out, everything between them changed drastically.

"I see..." Zuri clicked her tongue. "I should have gotten rid of your other ear, because it seems you don’t need it."

The hollow where his ear was supposed to be, was covered with his hair, but you could see the scar around that area. Rhett was not even upset for losing his ear, since he was well aware the pain that he had inflicted on Zuri was way greater than this.

"Help both of us. Get out. I am so close of losing my temper now." Her lips were shaking, she was fighting back tears, she was fighting back the urge to kill him, she was fighting back her own demons, she was fighting back the voices in her head that were screaming at her.

She was fighting everything. She fought herself. She fought for her sanity. She needed Khaos. She needed to hear his voice to keep her grounded.

Desperately, Zuri searched for their mate bond, trying to find him, but he was too far from the mindlink to work.

"Get. Out." She gritted the word, as she saw her father stood behind Rhett. It started again. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"Zuri, I am sorry. I am sorry for everything that I have done. I am sorry for putting you through this. I didn’t mean to hurt you..."

"YOU DID! YOU ALREADY DID!" Zuri screamed, as her father talked now.

’See? You are such a fool to think that Rhett favored you. There is nothing in this world will come for free. There is a price for everything. At the very least, I have never tricked you like what he did.’

"Shut up! Do you think you are better than him?!" Zuri was hyperventilating. She couldn’t breathe. "SCRAM!"

"Zuri, I know you hate me. I know that I have no excuse to justify what I have done to you... but, my hands are tied. I have no other choice." Rhett balled his fists. He wanted to approach her and comfort her like he used to do when they were little, when their father punished her and Silas bullied her.

But, Rhett couldn’t, because he knew the moment he was within her reach, she was going to lose it and this time, he might lose his life as well instead of a mere ear.

’I told you not to trust easily, but here you are, wailing over such betrayal. This is life, Zuri. People betrayed other people. Rhett is a wake up call for you. See for yourself how your lovely brother shattered your trust. It’s only a matter of time before Khaos betrayed you too. Oh, he already did, I think.’

Her father talked to her with a smug smile on his lips and then laughed loudly. It felt very real for Zuri, because she could hear him loud and clear.

But suddenly, Xaden was already standing beside her, he shook his head, as if he was disappointed with her.

’You are such a fool. If only you chose the right thing, you will not be in this situation. You are still that useless woman, who lost our child. You had miscarriage, because you are stupid. Even with a mark, Khaos didn’t want to mate you. He didn’t even touch you. Do you really think he wanted you? I don’t think so.’

"GET OUT! SCRAM!"

Her yell was for all of them. She wanted them to get out of her sight and get out of her head. Get out of her life.

She didn’t know how long she was screaming, because the next thing that registered to her mind was Bryden calling her name, shaking her trembling body to get her back to reality.

"What happened, Zuri?" Bryden looked worried and Rhett was nowhere in this room.

"Kh- Khaos... I want Khaos..." Zuri choked in her own voice. She needed him like she needed air. "I want him..."

Zuri pressed both of her palms to cover her ears, but when it didn’t work, she hit her own head, screaming at Bryden.

"I want Khaos!"

The beta immediately rushed out of the room and everything went crazy again in her mind, dozen of voices talked at the same time.

But suddenly, she heard him. She heard his voice. She recognized his voice among the other voices and she clung onto it, until he appeared right in front of her and hugged her.

"Don’t leave... don’t leave... they come back when you left..." Zuri tasted peace, she felt normal for the last few days when Khaos was around and she couldn’t lose it anymore. "Make them stop..."

"I am here."

[I am not going to leave you.]

Khaos talked to her directly and in her mind. He hummed for her.
