A Love Reborn: Finding Romance Twice In One Lifetime-Chapter 254: POURING OUT HER HEART 2
He couldn’t believe that she was cutting ties with him just like that without him saying a word. Was she that heartless?
"You ..... can’t we talk about this? You haven’t even given me a chance to respond and explain myself!" with clenched fists he asked as he looked at her earnestly, as if his gaze might pierce her.
"Hehe," Calista thought, chuckled sinisterly as she looked at him and said, "I would advise you, Orson, to go back and think hard about what you will answer me. Before you even think about the answer, know one thing. If you want us to be family, then be ready to give up on many things."
Upon hearing that, Orson’s gaze flickered as a foreboding sensation befell him. He couldn’t help but ask, "What do you mean by that?" doubt in his tone, unwilling to accept the train of his thought regarding his guesses.
"You heard me! If you want me and the kids. What I want is a man, a lover, a husband and a father; me and the kids get to see every day. In this life, I just want to live a simple life without any disturbing events.
I will earn money to support myself and the kids. Let them be raised well with money to spare. Among all the places in the world, I picked this backward village which I am going to turn slowly into something magical. This place is my home and my roots are here.
So, if you want anything to do with me, then Orson, be prepared to be stuck in this village for the rest of your life.
Your identities are too dangerous for my kids. While I might be able to protect myself and them all the time, I can’t guarantee what will happen if I let them out of my sight.
What if your enemies from the past get to know about them and start seeking trouble from me? Don’t expect me to shed blood on your behalf. I am here to accumulate good karma for my kids and not be used as your weapon.
So, if you aren’t ready to make such sacrifices, then don’t bother to respond. We can co-parent. Just make sure you send the maintenance fees even once a year. It’s fine. After all, you must live far away. I won’t have a husband who I see once a year simply because he lives in a place where he needs to be on the road and the seas for four months. You will spend the whole year traveling and then what?" she asked sarcastically as she coaxed the baby to sleep by patting the back.
"You_"
"Don’t even think that I will come and settle down with you. Who knows if I can be safe? After all, your beloved wife’s family and her grave are there. Don’t expect me to be stomped by others just because of a man," Calista cut him off as she continued with her sarcasm.
Orson took a deep breath as he tried to calm himself. He could tell that Calista was doing everything to provoke him, and honestly, it was working. However, getting enraged right now would only make him lose rather than get an upper hand.
Seeing how she wanted to continue with this, and how he was unable to refute for now, sitting down and thinking calmly was needed.
So, before Calista could open her mouth and add more disturbing words, he looked at her and said, "I will let you calm down and come back later," before walking away without giving her a chance to respond.
Calista watched the man departing back with a smirk on her face before she started clucking her tongue playfully, playing with the baby who didn’t seem to want to sleep.
As for Orson, he was a man. How could he not handle his emotions well?
Unbeknownst to her, Orson couldn’t handle what had just happened at all.
When he passed the living room, he didn’t bother to suppress his emotions and rudely passed, leaving everyone dumbfounded for a moment.
Not interested in hearing what those people would think about what was happening to him, he just left the manor and headed towards the campsite where the rest of his people were.
When he reached there, the familiarity made him calm down to some extent. He suddenly felt at home, unlike the suppressing mood at Calista’s place.
His mood was very vivid to everyone who saw him and the subordinates made themselves scarce, as they didn’t want to be implicated.
However, for someone else, this looked like a chance.
Vaani prepared a few snacks from her tent and brought them to where Orson was. She didn’t know what happened at the manor, but looking at his dark face, it wasn’t good. Only one person was capable of making him like this. She couldn’t help but feel smug for a bit.
"Master Pierce, I hope that I am not disturbing you," Vaani politely said, humbling herself as she placed the tray of snacks, adding, "I just had these made a while ago. How about a bite?"
Orson looked at Vaani, who had accompanied him for so many years and yet never once had he felt a thing for her. She was very flirtatious, although that didn’t mean that she was impure. That was something innate and an ability that made her achieve so much for the family.
She was a great asset that couldn’t be discarded. She was that precious.
Seeing the effort, she had put in and knowing that it wasn’t directed at him, after all, there wasn’t any guarantee that he would be returning to the camp that early.
Besides, Vaani, in her spare time, loved tinkering with food. So, it didn’t come as a surprise. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Thinking about all that, he couldn’t help but soften as he looked at her with a soft gaze.
"Sure. Thank you," he said as he picked a biscuit and took a bite.
Vaani, seeing that, pumped her fists in triumph.
’One step down and a few more to go!’
