A Life Once More-Chapter 65: It doesn’t hurt that bad
Chapter 65 - 65: It doesn't hurt that bad
"Trying to eat?"
Blinking, I snapped out of my daze. Looking away from Sir Douchealot, I turned to my family, all of whom wore different expressions.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Mom asked, clearly worried, but I waved it off. I gave her a smile and walked on both feet. It hurt, but honestly, it wasn't that bad.
Without dragging it out, I grabbed Cain and Euphi's hands and led the way inside. Mom sighed behind me, but she followed. Everyone inside was staring at us—well, me specifically. The waiter gave me a thumbs-up, so I guess he knew all the details of what happened.
To our surprise, we didn't even have to wait to be seated. Grabbing menus, we slid into a booth that felt extremely comfortable. Euphi sat beside me, and Cain took a spot next to Mom. My breathing finally relaxed since I wasn't walking on my ankle. Again, it didn't hurt too badly, but the sudden pulses of pain definitely threw me off.
"Big Brother, that was cool!" Euphi punched the air a few times. Her little fist broke through the air like if she were a cultivator, she would be untouched—a phoenix amongst mortals!
I chuckled. Then—
'Ahem!'
Back to reality.
"Thanks, Euphi!" I rubbed her little head, and this time she didn't even complain about her hair. She just hugged me, and we looked at the menu together.
I caught Cain staring at me. "Yes, little bro?"
"H-How did that not hurt?" He must've been talking about me pulling my foot back even though it was being twisted.
I thought for a second. "It hurt. It actually really hurt, but you see, the secret is to not think about it. Besides, a fever is more painful than a little ankle pain."
"Eiz! Stop teaching your brother wrong! If you're in pain, ask for help!" Mom stared at me while hitting me on top of my head with the menu.
I rubbed my head a bit. "It's the truth though..." I muttered with a pout. I felt a bit hurt that she would think I'd lead my little brother astray. Speaking of my little siblings, they were laughing at me getting hit.
"So you two think it's funny, huh?"
Euphi froze and just hugged me tighter, burying her face into my side. She clearly didn't want divine punishment! Since she was my little adorable sister, I would spare her—but Cain...
'Heh.'
[You're quite the big brother. Especially for someone who's never had siblings.]

'Thank you. Thank you.'
[You're welcome?]
'Why are you questioning it?'
[I'm not sure if I meant it as a compliment or not.]
'Guah?!' I figuratively clutched my chest but made sure not to act it out this time. I didn't need to be looked at weirdly again.
"Brother~ Let's get chicken tenders!"
"Euphi, we are in a different country. We should try something unique!"
"No! What if we don't like it?!"
"Then we'll just buy chicken tenders!"
"Hmmmmmmmm, OKAY!" Her feet kicked under the table, full of energy she didn't know what to do with. A literal ball of sunshine.
With the debate settled, the both of us analyzed the menu, and honestly, everything looked good to me, so I decided to just let her choose. After a few minutes, her little finger pointed at a specific dish that did catch my eye.
I leaned in and read the description out loud, "Machboos... seasoned rice cooked with spices, dried lemon, and slow-cooked meat, topped with roasted nuts and fried onions."
Looking at her, she nodded, and it looked big enough for the two of us, so that's what we were going with. I put the menu to the side and waited for Mom and Cain to choose their meals. I had never been to any place like this before, so I couldn't lie—I was feeling a bit excited.
Just then, a waitress came to our table and spoke in perfect English. Her long brown hair was tied into braids, and her brown eyes matched well with her tanned skin. As for the rest of her, I didn't really care to delve into that. Kate was the only person whose body I wanted to look at. I guess adding Ophi to that wouldn't be weird either, but Ophi's was more to make sure she was doing okay, while Kate's was for "reasons."
"What can I get for you all?" she said lightly, her tone upbeat. Mom looked at her while placing her order but that was a mistake on Mom's part. You see, she had been wearing sunglasses this whole time, but when we sat down, she took them off. So things became like Clark Kent—glasses on, normal; glasses off... superstar.
'Ezryn are glasses like a super item?'
[N-No. I think its just stupidity!]
'That's...'
I couldn't deny him on that.
"O-Oh!?" The waitress held it in as best she could, but her reaction still attracted stares.
"Oh my!" A few women reacted the same way, while a few men had some unsavory reactions—but still within reason, I guess. I get that Mom was extremely beautiful, so I couldn't fault them. They were much better than Sir Douchealot.
Realizing the attention, the waitress apologized profusely, but Mom just smiled.
"It's okay, dear. I've long since gotten used to this." Mom said that, but she clearly regretted not being more careful.
"Well, on that note!" I grabbed the waitress's attention, putting in me and Euphi's order and switching the awkward atmosphere to something more relaxed. Hunger was assaulting me now, and I didn't have time for apologizing games.
"Yeah, food!" Euphi cutely mimicked me, pointing at her stomach—but her tears were real. She must've really been starving. I saw Cain's eye twitch, and he just started deadpanning at Euphi. The little devil stared right back at Cain with a deadpan look of her own.
Unable to hold it in, I burst into a fit of laughter watching them. These two were literally the funniest siblings I've ever seen.
