A Husband For Killer Mom-Chapter 281 - The Secret Tunnel
281 Ch. 281 The Secret Tunnel
Mei Yin held Elliot’s tiny hand that was touching her neck. She rubbed the corner of the child’s eye to wipe away the tears that threatened to come out. “It doesn’t hurt. I’m fine, so don’t cry. If you keep crying, I will cry too. If I cry, my neck will hurt.” was her ridiculous reasoning. But it worked like magic as Elliot stopped crying that instant.
“I’m not crying.”
Anxia shook her head, watching the interaction between the two. Before this, Elliot was jealous of Lori because he had been able to be with his parents since birth. But Elliot didn’t know Anxia was jealous of Mei Yin and Jamie.
Even though Elliot admits that now his favorite people are Anxia and Richard, they cannot stand between Elliot’s bond with Mei Yin and Jamie. Those two people were the source of Elliot’s peace since Loraine Shu brought the boy here, and only those two people sincerely loved little Elliot and gave him mental support.
Satisfied with meeting little Elliot, Mei Yin stood up and faced Anxia.
“Elliot knows the way out through a secret door in the labyrinth garden. You’d better go first.”
“How about you? Then Jamie?”
“My mother is already in a safe place. Hence, I would like to give you a present.”
“For me?”
.....
“Xiao Guang, get your mother out of here, okay? I will complete my last mission here.”
“En!” Elliot exclaimed enthusiastically.
“Why do I feel like you guys are treating me like a weakling?” accused Anxia as she squinted at Mei Yin and her son, who was now giggling.
“That’s crazy, but here isn’t your domain. Believe it or not, your son has almost mastered the territory of this island. He is the one who knows the intricacies of the secret path here.”
Anxia couldn’t believe hearing this and looked at Elliot, who was now smiling broadly as if feeling proud of himself. If Richard smiled like that, Anxia would definitely be irritated. Whenever Richard smiled, filled with pride in himself, the man’s smile looked so annoying for some reason.
But when Elliot smiled, Anxia wanted to smile as well.
“All right, Elliot. Please take me out of this place.”
“Okay! Sister Mei Yin, you should also get out of here. Don’t let that person catch you.”
“I’ll catch up with you out there.”
Elliot was satisfied with Mei Yin’s answer, then took his mother’s hand and started to walk into the maze where the walls were made of vines.
After seeing the two people enter the labyrinth garden, Mei Yin glanced at the fainted nanny with a cold gaze. She decided to tie this girl up and lock her in an old warehouse where no one would come here. Someone may come here, but not tonight, when everyone would be busy keeping watch on the main door as well as the west side of the island.
In the meantime, Anxia and Elliot had arrived at the garden’s center. Anxia thought she wouldn’t be surprised when Elliot told her a secret way out of this mansion. She thought secret passages like in Richard’s private palace were already the most shocking thing. But who would have thought she would still be shocked when they arrived in the middle of this labyrinth garden?
There was a statue of a Greek woman carrying a pitcher of water.
“Mama, we have to push this statue.”
Anxia complied and together pushed the statue so that it shifted backward. Miraculously, a hole… a passage leading underground was visible from beneath the statue.
After pushing the statue, it slowly moved back to its original position.
“Come on in quickly.”
Anxia and Elliot immediately went downstairs, and any light from outside slowly faded away. Anxia took her phone and turned on a flashlight to illuminate the place. Then Anxia let Elliot hold her hand and walked towards the exit, which was as zigzag as a labyrinth.
“Elliot, where did you memorize this path?”
“I memorized this place since last year. At that time, I was playing hide and seek with sister Mei Yin and accidentally found this place with her. Finally, we tried to enter and find a way out of this place.”
“And you succeeded on one try?”
“No. We were trapped in this place for so many hours that grandma sent all her men to find me. She thought I had escaped from this island.”
Anxia chuckled in delight because she could imagine the woman’s expression when Loraine thought her one and only trophy had disappeared without her knowledge. Please visit 𝒇𝙧𝐞ℯ𝒘e𝚋n𝚘𝙫𝐞𝑙. c𝐨m
“Then what happens?”
“Sister Mei Yin helped me lie and said that we fell asleep in the warehouse because we were too tired to play hide and seek.”
“She believes it?”
“Grandma thought I couldn’t lie, so she believed it.”
Indeed, this fake Loraine Shu was brainless and a coward. She was easily tricked and taken advantage of. No wonder Song Lei used this kind of woman to steal her mother’s identity.
“What about Song Lei? He will not be fooled easily.”
“I would never explore this island if that man was here.”
“Smart boy.” Anxia praised as she ruffled Elliot’s hair making the boy chuckle.
“How many secret passages are there in this place?”
“There are so many… I don’t know how many. But I have memorized seven secret passages in this place.”
“Seven!?”
“Four are in the west near grandma celebrating my birthday, one near your room, and the last behind the flower garden shed. All the secret passages I’ve encountered converge at one point, and later we will also pass that point.”
After passing through a winding tunnel that felt like hours, they finally reached a point Elliot had intended.
The two of them stood in the middle of dozens of holes like the mouth of a cave while they came out of one of the caves.
What place is this?
Anxia glanced at her son, who was also looking around with a probing look. Not long after, they heard the sound of footsteps coming from one of the caves making Anxia push Elliot behind to protect him.
With a subtle movement, Anxia opened the slit of her dress to take out the knife she had fixed in her black garter.
Then, a person dressed in black with a transparent mask and glasses appeared. This person was blonded hair and walked out, raising both hands in the air, indicating he came with no ill intent.
The weird thing was this person was dressed similarly to Richard, but clearly, this person was not Richard.
