A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 80: The President Doesn’t Go Back for Seconds
An otherwise simple explanation took on a peculiar tone coming from Vivian Quincy.
Jasper Ford felt the woman was deliberately teasing him. And those big, incredibly clear eyes of hers... they were truly beautiful, so captivatingly clear that any man could get lost in them.
His mood suddenly soured. Jasper Ford shoved Vivian Quincy away irritably. "Speak properly."
"I am speaking properly," Vivian Quincy said, looking bewildered, her big eyes blinking rapidly.
Jasper Ford almost wanted to gouge those eyes out. ’They’re too bewitching,’ he thought, ’looking at them makes me uncomfortable.’
He deliberately avoided her gaze and said coldly, "Since you didn’t agree, you can go back to your original post."
"No, thank you. I quite like it at the entry-level. If you truly pity me, President Ford, please just reduce my workload a bit." For Vivian Quincy, as long as she wasn’t doing the work of four people all by herself, she had more than enough to be thankful for. She really didn’t dare hope for anything more, and she definitely didn’t want to go back to working by Jasper Ford’s side.
’Every time I’m near him, I feel like I could be eaten alive at any moment,’ Vivian Quincy thought. ’Or...’
Her gaze flickered to the gun on the desk, and she didn’t dare make a single move.
Clearly displeased by the rejection, Jasper Ford pinched her face with his long fingers. "Say that again."
His voice was terrifying.
Vivian Quincy forced a stiff smile, swallowed hard, and said with all her might, "I’ll go pack my things right now!"
"Pack your things to go where?" the man asked, his eyes half-lidded.
Vivian Quincy said, "Back to the secretarial department, to be your assistant, President Ford. To be honest, my days in the warehouse have been a living hell. I’ve been dreaming of returning to your side. Please, President, don’t send me away."
She shamelessly spouted words that made her conscience ache.
The man snorted, released her, and coolly placed the gun from the desk into a safe.
Vivian Quincy finally breathed a sigh of relief. She walked out of the office in a daze, her expression grim.
Caden Chandler, who had been waiting outside, saw her grim expression and couldn’t help but ask, "Are you alright?"
"Do I look like I’m alright?" Vivian Quincy retorted.
Caden Chandler saw that she was physically unharmed, which only deepened his confusion.
Vivian Quincy didn’t explain. Her fragile psyche had taken a huge blow, and all she wanted was to find a quiet place to catch her breath. But Jasper Ford gave her no such chance, ordering her to pack her things and head straight to the conference room to prepare.
She could only obediently return to the warehouse, complete the handover with her supervisor, and gather her belongings.
The others who saw this were very confused. ’Where is Vivian Quincy going?’
’She didn’t get fired, did she?’
’She didn’t even finish the work she was assigned a few days ago. She probably pissed off someone important and got herself fired.’
’Heh, finally we don’t have to see that pretentious woman anymore.’
A few employees muttered quietly. But then a thought struck them: if Vivian Quincy left, wouldn’t all her work fall on them? They’d be worked to death!
And so, one employee couldn’t resist running up to the supervisor. "Where did Vivian Quincy go? Is she coming back? She was doing fine, why was she kicked out?"
The supervisor smiled. "She wasn’t kicked out. The president recognized her outstanding abilities and transferred her back to her original position. She might even get a promotion and a raise."
"What..." The employee’s face fell. ’A promotion and a raise for Vivian Quincy? Why her?’
’If we’d known the president was keeping an eye on things down here, we shouldn’t have just sat on the sidelines watching the drama. If we had lent Vivian a hand and put on a good show, maybe the president would have been pleased and promoted us too.’
’Damn it, we missed our chance.’
’That damn Vivian Quincy, she’s such a good actress! To get the president to take her back just like that... It’s infuriating!’
Down in the warehouse, several colleagues were deeply resentful. Meanwhile, up in the secretarial department, everyone was utterly shocked.
They stared in disbelief at the returning Vivian Quincy, their minds racing with different thoughts.
Everyone knew that the president had been furious when he’d sent Vivian Quincy down to the warehouse. It was a foregone conclusion that her career there was over. Being rehired as his assistant should have been impossible.
Even if Caden Chandler himself had made a mistake and been dismissed, the president would never have called him back. That was just how proud Jasper Ford was.
He was just that arrogant. He never went back on his decisions.
’This Vivian Quincy is something else. What on earth did she do to get back in his good graces?’
Everyone couldn’t help but speculate, their suspicious gazes fixed on Vivian Quincy. The whole situation felt completely absurd.
Vivian Quincy could feel their strange looks. She silently returned to her workstation. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
The female colleague sitting across from her couldn’t resist asking, "Vivian, how did President Ford call you back?"
"Um... I don’t know," Vivian Quincy said, shaking her head.
The colleague smiled. "No way. Come on, tell us, what did you do to make him soften up? He’s never done anything like this before. You’re the first!"
"I really didn’t do anything." Vivian Quincy truly had no idea what had possessed Jasper Ford. ’I only asked for a slightly lighter workload. Why would he call me back?’
Her evasive answer only made some people feel there was more to the story.
Vivian Quincy couldn’t be bothered to explain. She attended meetings and took notes. Later, Jasper Ford and Caden Chandler went out. When it was time to leave for the day, Vivian Quincy packed up her things and left.
She had planned on finding Anna, but she ran into Wanda Quincy on her way out of the building.
Wanda Quincy’s car was parked on the side of the road, right on Vivian Quincy’s usual route home. Her eyes were red, as if she had been crying. The moment she saw Vivian, Wanda got out of her car, strode over, and delivered a hard slap across her face!
Caught completely off guard, Vivian Quincy was stunned. "Wanda Quincy, are you insane?" she demanded sharply.
Wanda Quincy sneered, "You owed me that."
"What do I owe you?" Vivian Quincy didn’t understand what she meant.
Wanda Quincy said, "Stop playing dumb! Didn’t you send that bastard, Beanie Quincy, to go crying to Madam Ford? I really underestimated you."
Vivian Quincy was confused. ’When did I tell Beanie to go complain? Isn’t he with Anna?’
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Vivian Quincy denied flatly.
"Hah! Look at my hands! And my feet! This is all thanks to you. Do you think you can wash your hands of this just by saying you don’t know?" Wanda Quincy had suffered so much humiliation today; there was no way she would let it go so easily.
She had been beaten by Zachary Thornton in the middle of the street and humiliated by Madam Ford. It was all Vivian Quincy’s fault!
That bitch! She’d been a thorn in her side six years ago, and nothing had changed. Wanda Quincy was fed up. She was going to return every bit of the humiliation she had endured today right back to Vivian Quincy!
"You two, go grab her," Wanda Quincy ordered the two bodyguards behind her.
Vivian Quincy quickly backed away and turned to run, but what chance did she have against two burly men? She hadn’t gotten far before they caught her.
