A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 165: How Does Ninth Uncle Know She’s Asleep?
"Vivian Quincy is in my arms."
The man’s words didn’t just stun Hayden Kaye; Vivian Quincy was completely floored as well. She never thought Jasper Ford would say something so shocking.
Her face flushed with embarrassment. She snatched the phone back, wanting to deny it, but Jasper Ford had already hung up.
Vivian Quincy said angrily, "Do you have any idea what you’re doing? That’s my phone. How could you take my phone and talk to someone else? Did you ask for my permission?"
Jasper Ford lowered his gaze, his dark, deep eyes looking at her coldly. "Are you done?"
"No," Vivian Quincy shook her head.
Jasper Ford let out a soft chuckle. "If you’re not done, then come blow-dry my hair."
The tall, slender man walked lazily toward the vanity not far away. As he passed Vivian Quincy, she could clearly smell the faint, pleasant scent of ambergris on him.
Watching Jasper Ford’s retreating back with a complicated expression, she pouted and muttered, "Can’t you dry it yourself? Why make me do it? I’m just an employee, not your nanny."
"Starting today, you’re my personal little nanny." Jasper Ford stood before the mirror, lazily brushing his damp bangs from his forehead. It was a casual gesture, but for some reason, when Jasper Ford did it, it looked especially handsome, especially captivating!
’His profile really is gorgeous,’ she thought. ’Objectively speaking, he’s definitely better-looking than Hayden Kaye. But Hayden’s looks were already considered top-tier back in school. He was the campus heartthrob, a legendary figure that countless girls dreamed of dating.’
’Back then, Vivian Quincy felt she was incredibly lucky to be with Hayden Kaye.’
’Now...’
Vivian Quincy swallowed. ’I have to resist!’
’No matter how outstanding or tempting the man in front of her was, he was still just her direct supervisor—and a perverse demon at that. She had to stay as far away from him as possible. She absolutely could not have any improper thoughts about Jasper Ford!’
But in the end, Vivian Quincy couldn’t hold back. ’He’s just so handsome! How could any normal woman possibly refuse him?’
’She was starting to fall for him.’
So much so that when Jasper Ford crooked a finger at her, she walked over on her own accord, picked up the blow-dryer, and started drying his hair.
Jasper Ford’s hair was of excellent quality—thick and full. Vivian Quincy couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy. Hair this good was rare, almost like Beanie’s. Beanie’s hair was also excellent. The two of them were actually a little bit similar in that regard.
Thinking of Beanie, a lovely, sweet smile graced Vivian Quincy’s lips. The smile happened to catch Jasper Ford’s eye. He was a little surprised, having rarely seen Vivian Quincy smile so beautifully. He instinctively grabbed the left hand she was using to hold his hair.
"What are you smiling foolishly about?" His deep, gentle voice was very pleasant to the ear.
Vivian Quincy’s cheeks grew hot, and she suddenly felt a little shy. Lightly biting her soft pink lips, she said, "None of your business."
"Fine, it’s none of my business." For once, Jasper Ford wasn’t angry. Perhaps it was because the girl in the mirror was too beautiful, too gentle, and he couldn’t bring himself to be harsh with her.
He let her slowly finish drying his hair. Vivian Quincy thought her task was complete and that she could leave, but Jasper Ford insisted she stay. She refused, saying there was no bed.
Jasper Ford said, "This is a suite. There’s a small room next door. You can sleep in that bed." Jasper Ford got up and returned to his own two-meter-wide bed.
"I just don’t understand. Why won’t you let me go back? I’ve clearly finished my work. Can’t I leave now?" Vivian Quincy couldn’t help but demand.
Jasper Ford: "No."
"Then..."
"Just stay here obediently. You’re not to go anywhere tonight," Jasper Ford warned.
Vivian Quincy was furious, but she couldn’t beat him in a fight. What could she do? Leave by force? Wouldn’t that great demon Jasper Ford just dock her entire salary?
She had worked for so long without earning much. In fact, she had nearly spent all her savings. If Jasper Ford docked her pay again, she’d truly have no way to survive.
Furious, but she didn’t dare to argue back.
She sulkily went to the small room next door. Vivian Quincy was so mad her little face was all scrunched up, wishing she could pinch Jasper Ford to death with the wrinkles on her face.
She couldn’t sleep. She was scared.
Her phone kept buzzing. Hayden Kaye was messaging her like a madman.
Vivian Quincy felt terribly sorry toward Hayden Kaye, but she didn’t know how to repay him.
After thinking it over, Vivian Quincy couldn’t resist sending Hayden Kaye a message: "Don’t worry, I’m fine. It’s late, you should go to sleep."
"Vivian, who was that man just now? Why aren’t you answering my calls? Did something happen to you?" Hayden Kaye asked anxiously.
Vivian Quincy replied, "I’m fine. Stop asking. Good night."
"No, you have to tell me who that man was. Why is there a man with you? Where are you right now? I’ll come find you." Hayden Kaye refused to let it go.
Not wanting to be interrogated by him any longer, Vivian Quincy said, "That was Jasper Ford."
"My Ninth Uncle?" Hayden Kaye was shocked. His mind went numb for a second, completely bewildered.
’How could a man as lofty and aloof as Ninth Uncle be so frivolous? And he didn’t seem interested in Vivian Quincy at all.’
"Are you at the office?" Hayden Kaye asked curiously, then added, "My Ninth Uncle is going too far, making you work overtime this late. He’s so unreasonable."
"But don’t worry, Vivian. Since you’re still at the office, that means my Ninth Uncle must still be awake. I’ll call him right now and tell him to let you off work early." After saying that, Hayden Kaye immediately hung up.
Vivian Quincy shot up from the bed and peered outside. ’Was Hayden Kaye really going to call Jasper Ford?’
’This guy, all he does is cause trouble for me.’
Vivian Quincy tiptoed to the door and peeked out, craning her neck. The man on the big bed was leaning against the headboard, apparently already asleep. Just as she breathed a sigh of relief and was about to tiptoe back, Jasper Ford’s phone rang.
"What is it?" the man said, answering the phone.
Vivian Quincy’s body stiffened.
It was so quiet all around that she could even hear the indignant voice coming from Jasper Ford’s phone!
"Ninth Uncle, you’re not asleep yet? It’s so late."
Jasper Ford: "About to."
"What about Vivian Quincy?" Hayden Kaye pressed.
Jasper Ford said, "She is too. Is there something you need?"
"It’s nothing major. I just feel bad for you, Ninth Uncle, having to work overtime so late. Maybe you could rest earlier in the future? Staying up late is bad for your health. Besides, Vivian Quincy is a girl; you shouldn’t make her stay up so late all the time. Could you let her go to sleep earlier from now on, Ninth Uncle?" Hayden Kaye said cautiously, his pitiful voice laced with an obvious plea.
The corners of Jasper Ford’s mouth curved up. "I can."
"Really? Thank you, Ninth Uncle! Good night then, Ninth Uncle. I’m going to bed now." Hayden Kaye was ecstatic, his voice as sweet as could be.
After hanging up, Hayden Kaye was about to message Vivian Quincy back, but upon reflection, something felt off.
’Vivian Quincy is at the office, so how could she be going to sleep? They had just ended their call less than three minutes ago, and there’s no way Vivian could have gotten home already.’
’Also, how did Ninth Uncle know Vivian was about to sleep?’
’They couldn’t possibly be sleeping together, could they?’
