A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 123: My Son Was Lured Away by Jasper Ford
The moment Vivian Quincy said those words, she regretted them.
The temperature in the room seemed to drop to freezing in an instant. Vivian Quincy could clearly feel the intense hostility radiating from Jasper Ford. She swallowed hard and said earnestly, "Don’t you look at me with those terrifying eyes. I’m not afraid of you!"
Jasper Ford hadn’t been this angry at first, but after hearing Vivian’s words, he laughed. The crisp, low sound of his voice was enough to make one’s skin crawl.
Suddenly, her chin was seized.
She let out a soft whimper of pain, but before she could utter a word, Jasper Ford’s other large hand clamped around her slender wrist. A sharp pain followed, and her eyes instantly filled with tears.
"I’ll ask you one last time: where did the money come from?" The man’s voice was razor-sharp, as if he would snap her hand if Vivian dared to tell a single lie.
Vivian’s lips paled, but she stubbornly lifted her chin. "I’m not telling you..."
"Vivian Quincy, don’t test my patience," Jasper Ford warned, his voice low.
Her vision blurred with pain, but she hadn’t done anything wrong. ’This is my business. Why should I have to answer every one of Jasper Ford’s questions?’
Vivian refused to be controlled by Jasper Ford. She refused, period!
She bit her lip so hard it almost bled, refusing to utter a word.
"Vivian Quincy, you’re getting more and more brazen," Jasper Ford murmured.
Refusing to back down, Vivian lifted her head, fearlessly meeting Jasper’s aggressive gaze. She enunciated each word clearly, "At work, I’m just your assistant. My duties are to prepare the documents you need and to arrange your schedule. I’ve done all of that perfectly. I just don’t understand why you’re angry with me."
’I haven’t stolen anything, I haven’t robbed anyone, and I certainly haven’t leaked company secrets or done anything to let Jasper Ford down. My conscience is clear. Besides, who is he to me? He’s just my boss.’
’It’s after hours now. I don’t feel obligated to listen to a word he says.’
So when Jasper pressed her, Vivian refused to answer. She had no obligation to.
’My only responsibility to Jasper Ford is to do my job well. Nothing more.’
Her fearless eyes shone with stubbornness and defiance.
Jasper reached out, snatched Vivian’s purse, and ripped it open. A cascade of bills spilled out, blanketing the floor. It was impossible to tell how much there was, only that it was a huge amount.
A flicker of something dangerous appeared in Jasper’s eyes. His handsome profile was twisted into a smile more terrifying than death itself.
"From Jeremy King." It wasn’t a question; it was a statement.
Vivian hadn’t expected the money to come tumbling out like that. She jutted out her chin. "That’s right. Any problem with that?"
"Why did you take his money? What did you promise him?" Jasper’s voice grew steadily colder.
Vivian muttered with a pout, "He gave me the money and apologized, so I took it. Is there anything else you’d like to ask, President?"
"Give it back," Jasper commanded, his tone imperious.
’Is this guy messing with me?’ she thought. ’Give it back? How am I supposed to do that? Jeremy King was the one who came to me. And I was genuinely affected by what Mrs. King said. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to accept some compensation.’
She refused to listen to him. "The money is in my hands now. There’s no way I’m giving it back up."
"You will not take a single cent of his money." Fueled by an inexplicable rage, Jasper shoved Vivian aside, flung open the door, and summoned the butler. He ordered the butler to pick up all the money and distribute it to the Ford family staff as bonuses.
Vivian panicked. That was her money! By what right was he giving it away to other people? 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
’No way!’
She shot back, "That’s my money! What right do you have to dispose of it? Do you even know what you’re doing? This is illegal seizure of personal property!"
She grabbed the butler’s arm to stop him from leaving, still shouting furiously at Jasper.
Jasper gripped her chin with one hand. "I said you’re not to take Jeremy King’s money, and you will not take it! And another thing—take off those filthy clothes that another man has touched. Now!"
Vivian was speechless. "..."
’He was going way too far!’
"These are my clothes! When did another man ever touch me? And what I wear is none of your business!"
Jasper said, "Butler, open the window."
A bad feeling washed over Vivian, and she quickly took a step back. "What do you think you’re doing?"
"Throw you out of it, of course," Jasper said icily.
The color drained from Vivian’s face.
The butler was also startled by his young master’s words. He certainly wasn’t going to open the window, but locking the door... that was something he could do.
’It’s true that Assistant Quincy has some sort of entanglement with Master Kaye,’ the butler thought, ’but Master Kaye is a few years younger than our own Young Master. He even calls him Ninth Uncle. Our Young Master is already of the ’uncle’ generation and he doesn’t even have a girlfriend. If he could just get together with Assistant Quincy...’
The butler stealthily closed the door.
But he took Vivian’s money with him!
Vivian tried to rush out and get her money back, but Jasper wouldn’t let her.
He slammed the door she had just opened shut again.
Outside, the butler listened to the thumps and bangs coming from within. Though he didn’t know what was going on, he had a feeling it was going to be an interesting story.
No one knew what happened after that. All they knew was that when Vivian Quincy emerged from Jasper Ford’s room, she looked like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode at any second.
Beanie was delighted to see Vivian. He ran over happily and whispered, "Mommy, you’re finally here."
"We’re going home," Vivian said.
"So soon? Can’t we leave after dinner?" Beanie tilted his little head up and said innocently, "Miss Ford had the kitchen prepare lots of yummy food, including your favorite spicy chicken! I asked them to make it specially for you. Mommy, Miss Ford’s chef is a really, really good cook..."
The little guy looked absolutely ravenous.
Jasper had already come downstairs. Hearing the sound of Beanie practically swallowing his own saliva, a handsome, triumphant smile played on his lips.
Vivian said in a low voice, "I’ll make it for you when we get home."
"But yours isn’t as tasty as the chef’s," Beanie blurted out, unable to help telling the truth.
Vivian’s head started to ache. She suddenly felt that her precious son had been corrupted, his tastes spoiled. Beanie used to love her cooking the most. He would devour anything she made and never once complained.
’What delicacies has that detestable Jasper Ford been feeding my son?!’
Vivian couldn’t stop herself from turning to shoot Jasper a vicious glare.
The man smiled as he descended the stairs, step by step, approaching Beanie. "If you like the food at Uncle Ford’s house, you should stay and have some more. You can stay the night, too. I even bought you some toys."
"Really?" Beanie’s eyes lit up at the word "toys."
Jasper nodded. "They’re in my room. Want to come upstairs and see them with me?"
"Yes, yes!" The little guy, completely mesmerized by the promise of toys, scurried upstairs as enthusiastically as if he’d just discovered a hidden treasure.
Vivian’s headache intensified. She opened her mouth to call her obedient little boy back. ’Am I not important? The Beanie I raised all by myself, through all the hardships... he was just lured away by Jasper Ford with a couple of toys!’
