A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 114: He’s Too Good, I Don’t Deserve Him
Caden Chandler was incredibly efficient; in less than a day, he had investigated everything thoroughly. To Caden’s surprise, Vivian Quincy had no parents on record. He could only find information about her up to the age of three, when she was taken in by an orphanage. After that, she was moved around a few times before being adopted by an infertile couple. However, that couple had died in a car accident twenty years ago. Anything beyond that was untraceable.
Vivian Quincy was the only person listed on her household registration.
There was no trace of her for the past few years. Caden could only find that six years ago, she had taken a large sum of money from The Nightfall Club and fled. It was only recently that any new information about her had surfaced. It was safe to say that Vivian Quincy was a woman of mysterious origins.
But according to the files, Vivian Quincy and Wanda Quincy had no relationship whatsoever.
Caden Chandler asked, "President, are you suspecting that President Quincy and Wanda Quincy knew each other in the past?"
"Yes." Jasper Ford didn’t deny it. He believed they not only knew each other but were very close.
Caden was puzzled. "But that doesn’t seem likely. Even though they both have the surname Quincy, if they were really related, it’s impossible that we wouldn’t find a single trace."
"The very fact that we can’t find a single trace is what makes it suspicious," Jasper Ford cut Caden off coldly, a strange glint in his dark eyes.
Caden understood. He knew what Jasper meant. ’Someone must have done this intentionally, but who?’
’Wanda Quincy?’
’If it was Wanda Quincy, why would she be in such a hurry to distance herself from Vivian Quincy?’
’If not Wanda Quincy, then it could be Jeremy King. But since when was Jeremy King so benevolent? To actually go out of his way to erase all of Vivian Quincy’s sordid past... it just doesn’t seem like his style.’
’As for who did it, the best way to find out would be to just ask Vivian Quincy.’
’But obviously, Vivian Quincy would never tell.’
When it was time to leave work, Vivian Quincy finished her tasks early to go pick up Beanie from the Thornton Group.
Jasper Ford said, "Take my car."
Vivian Quincy was clearly stunned. She looked up in confusion, blinking her large, crystal-clear eyes. After a long moment, she finally managed to ask, "Are you giving me a ride, President?"
"Mm," Jasper Ford replied with a single, pleasant-sounding syllable.
After a soft "oh," Vivian Quincy silently got into Jasper Ford’s car. When they arrived downstairs at the Thornton Group, Vivian said, "Thank you, President. See you tomorrow."
"Go get Beanie. We’re going to my house for dinner tonight," the man beside her said coldly.
Vivian Quincy froze, her eyes widening in astonishment.
Caden Chandler, who was driving, was also shocked, his eyes practically bugging out. ’Stay calm. I have to stay calm!’ he thought to himself. ’The President is probably just making a casual remark!’
Vivian Quincy also thought Jasper Ford was joking and said tactfully, "That won’t be necessary."
The man looked up, his gaze sharp, icy, and merciless.
Vivian Quincy immediately swallowed the rest of her words. Mustering her courage, she said, "Please wait, President. I’ll be right down!"
Upstairs, getting her son, downstairs, and back in the car—the whole process took less than five minutes!
Vivian Quincy was terrified of provoking Jasper Ford, that demon, and facing the consequences.
On the way to get Beanie, Vivian had specifically warned him not to provoke Jasper Ford, because he seemed to be in a strange mood today. Beanie was very obedient; after getting into the car, he completely ignored Jasper Ford, remaining silent in sync with his mother.
A moment later, the mother and son noticed the temperature inside the car had dropped even further, becoming much more intimidating than before!
Even the driver, Caden Chandler, could feel the oppressive chill. He couldn’t help but wipe the cold sweat from his forehead and step on the gas, trying to get everyone to their destination as quickly as possible.
After they got out, Jasper Ford said to Caden Chandler, "You can drive back now."
"Okay!" Caden Chandler didn’t dare say another word and sped away.
Vivian Quincy wanted to ask Jasper Ford how she and Beanie were supposed to get home now that Caden had driven off. But seeing Caden’s car had already vanished from sight, she swallowed her words and followed dejectedly behind Jasper. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Welcome home, Young Master." A maid came forward with a smile to help them with their shoes.
Madam Ford was overjoyed to see Beanie. She hurried over, saying, "My little darling, you’re finally here."
She ran over to hug Beanie, who didn’t resist. He sweetly tilted his face up, held Vivian Quincy’s hand, and said, "Miss Ford, she’s the one who brought me."
"You must be Jasper’s secretary, right? Good job," Madam Ford praised with a smile.
Vivian Quincy’s cheeks flushed slightly as she said shyly, "Thank you for the compliment, Madam. I hope we’re not intruding."
"Not at all, not at all! It’s wonderful that you’re here. I have to look at this good-for-nothing grandson of mine every day, and it ruins my appetite. I’m in a much better mood now that you’ve come," Madam Ford said, shamelessly disparaging Jasper.
The man’s expression darkened slightly.
Vivian Quincy noticed and couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. ’So the president, who’s usually so high and mighty and domineering at the office, has someone to keep him in line after all. It’s so satisfying to see him get taken down a notch!’
"Had your laugh?" Jasper Ford shot her a warning look.
Vivian Quincy immediately wiped the smile from her face and offered Jasper Ford a saccharine grin. "I wasn’t laughing."
"Take Beanie to wash his hands, then get to the table," Jasper Ford said before heading to the restroom himself.
Vivian Quincy obediently went to do as he said. It was only natural to be on one’s best behavior in someone else’s home. Fortunately, Madam Ford was easy to get along with, and Vivian found her quite pleasant. Aside from Jasper Ford, she was actually having a good time.
Madam Ford had perhaps been bored for too long, because as they were finishing their meal, she started chatting with Vivian. "How are things between you and Hayden? Have you two made it official yet?"
Jasper Ford’s hand, holding his chopsticks, paused. He looked across the table at Vivian Quincy.
Vivian Quincy quickly explained, "We’re just friends. We’re not dating."
"Why not? Is our Hayden not good enough for you?" Madam Ford asked, perplexed.
Vivian Quincy shook her head. "No, it’s that he’s too good. He’s driven and capable, his family is very well-off... I don’t deserve him."
"What century are we in? Why are you still talking about ’deserving’ someone or not? If you like each other, you should be together. Why make it so complicated?" Madam Ford advised Vivian earnestly. "It’s not easy to find someone sincere these days. I can see that Hayden treats you very well. Since you also think he’s a good man, you should give it a try."
Suddenly, Vivian lost her appetite. She could feel Jasper Ford staring at her, and she could sense the hostility in his gaze!
Vivian felt that if Madam Ford kept going, she might not make it out of there alive!
Taking a deep breath, Vivian looked up and forced a smile at Madam Ford. "I understand. I’ll... think about it. It’s just, I’m the President’s assistant right now. My top priority is my job, not dating. We can talk about this sort of thing some other time."
"You shouldn’t learn that from Jasper. He takes his work far too seriously, which is why he hasn’t managed to find a wife after all these years." Madam Ford did not agree with Vivian’s point of view.
Vivian secretly glanced at Jasper Ford’s cold profile. ’Is being too focused on his career really the reason he’s single?’ she thought. ’He walks around with that glacial expression all day. It’s a miracle he hasn’t scared someone to death!’
