Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Vivian Quincy, Don’t Be Arrogant

The butler probably hadn’t expected Wanda Quincy to arrive. He was about to walk over and greet her when he inadvertently overheard their conversation. Thinking he must have misheard, he approached them.

"What are you two discussing?" the butler asked curiously.

The color drained from Wanda Quincy’s exquisite face. She stared at the butler in alarm and asked, "When did you get here?"

"Just now, Miss Quincy. Aren’t you going inside?" His respectful tone was clearly meant for Wanda Quincy.

Just as Wanda Quincy was about to speak, Vivian Quincy cut in, "The CEO is having his meal. He doesn’t like to be disturbed."

"This is no place for you to speak," Wanda Quincy snapped.

Vivian Quincy smiled at the butler. "I wouldn’t let anyone in. If something goes wrong and the CEO gets angry, you’ll be the one to face the consequences."

The butler was a shrewd man. After so many years with the Ford family, he knew perfectly well what he should and shouldn’t do. Upon hearing Vivian’s words, he shot a questioning look at the guard. Only after the guard nodded did the butler slowly speak.

"Miss Quincy, since the Young Master has given his orders, I’m afraid I can’t let you in."

Wanda Quincy started, "But—"

"That’s enough. He won’t let you in no matter what you say." Vivian Quincy cut Wanda off, then turned and walked away with an air of utter arrogance.

Wanda Quincy was livid. "Vivian Quincy, don’t get too cocky!" she fumed. "This won’t last!"

Vivian Quincy smiled, a bright expression as pleasant as a spring breeze. She’d been holding back her frustration all day, but seeing Wanda hopping mad and completely helpless gave her a thrilling sense of satisfaction. Her mood lifted, and she was so cheerful she could have skipped.

"Vivian! Quin-cy!" Wanda seethed, grinding her teeth.

The butler tried to console her with a smile, but to no avail.

Back inside the Ford residence, Beanie was still eating, but Jasper Ford had already set down his chopsticks, looking as if he’d finished his meal.

"Is she gone?" Beanie asked, tilting his innocent little face up, his voice sweet.

Vivian Quincy nodded with a smile. "She’s gone."

"Yay, yay! The mean lady is finally gone!" Beanie was practically dancing in his seat.

Jasper Ford cleared his throat, and the little guy immediately sat up perfectly straight, happily continuing his meal.

A maid saw Vivian return and enthusiastically came over to help her with her shoes.

Jasper Ford’s gaze flickered as he watched this. He thoughtfully sized up the woman as she approached. Though her pajamas were loose, he could still tell she had an impressive figure, especially her bust.

Vivian Quincy was the type to have an innocent face but a bombshell figure. Utterly captivating.

For some reason, he suddenly recalled the kiss in Beanie’s bedroom. A wave of agitation washed over him, and he stood up and headed for the living room.

With Jasper Ford gone, Vivian ate happily, continuously adding food to Beanie’s plate. She had to admit, the Ford family’s chef cooked incredibly delicious food. When she’d been out in the courtyard earlier, she had noticed what looked like a vegetable garden off to the right. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

’It must be nice to be rich,’ she thought. ’They even grow their own vegetables in the yard.’

But Vivian simply couldn’t understand why such a wealthy tycoon was so dead-set on not letting her go. Wouldn’t it be better for everyone if she just left the company?

’After all, they couldn’t stand the sight of each other.’

Vivian ate her dinner in silence, sharing a quiet meal with Beanie.

The butler watched them from afar, but he couldn’t get what Wanda Quincy had said during her argument with Vivian out of his head. Even though he’d been some distance away, he had heard her words crystal clear...

His gaze, filled with a complex mix of confusion and doubt, fell upon Beanie. The butler watched the boy for a good ten minutes before he couldn’t resist walking over to Jasper Ford. "Young Master..." he began respectfully.

"Go upstairs and bring down the documents from my study," the man ordered abruptly.

The butler hurried to obey. By the time he returned with the documents, however, he had forgotten what he’d been about to say. It wasn’t until later, after Vivian had left with Beanie, that the butler remembered he had wanted to tell the Young Master what he’d overheard outside. But...

Seeing how engrossed his Young Master was in his work, the butler felt it would be wrong to interrupt. He stood by and watched quietly, and as time passed, the matter slipped his mind entirely.

That night, Vivian slept with Beanie.

She noticed that Beanie’s bed was very large. While it didn’t have any guardrails, the entire floor around it was covered with a thick carpet—the kind that would cushion a fall so you wouldn’t get hurt.

Vivian couldn’t help but ask, "Beanie, was this carpet always here?"

Beanie shook his head. "It wasn’t here when I first arrived."

"So they put it in later?" Vivian asked.

Beanie nodded earnestly. "Yep. I fell out of bed once, and Uncle Ford saw. So he had someone put this carpet in for me. I was against it at first since I knew I wouldn’t be staying here long, but Uncle Ford insisted, so there was nothing I could do."

His soft, sweet words reached Vivian’s ears, and her eyes shimmered. ’This doesn’t sound like the Jasper Ford I know,’ she thought suddenly.

The man she knew was selfish, domineering, and a bully who hated being touched by anyone.

He had pushed Mrs. King that evening, and upon returning, he’d washed his hands a dozen times and thrown out the entire suit jacket, tossing it into the trash can outside.

"Mommy, you can’t get together with Uncle Ford, okay?" Beanie suddenly looked up and said with great seriousness. "Even though Uncle Ford is super nice sometimes, I only want my daddy. Unless... unless we can’t find him."

"Okay, Mommy will definitely help you find your daddy." Vivian smiled, pulling the little dumpling into her arms. "Does your head still hurt?" she asked gently.

"It doesn’t hurt anymore," Beanie replied, shaking his head obediently.

Vivian breathed a sigh of relief. "Good. Time for sleep. Mommy will stay with you tonight."

"Love you, Mommy," Beanie said happily, snuggling under the covers.

Just before they fell asleep, Vivian made a point to remind him, "When you wake up tomorrow morning, you can’t call me by the wrong name, okay?"

"I know. Mommy is Uncle Ford’s assistant, so I’ll call you Assistant Quincy." Beanie held out his pinky to make a promise with her.

Vivian drifted off to sleep.

Soon, all was quiet in the room.

...

Jasper Ford, who had been busy in his study all evening, had a habit of checking on Beanie before heading to his own room to rest. Tonight was no different, but the scene that greeted him left him stunned.

The normally proud and somewhat aloof Beanie was curled up in Vivian’s arms. She, in turn, seemed completely accustomed to this sleeping position, lying on her side with an arm wrapped around the little boy, both of them sleeping soundly.

Her profile was beautiful, and she looked especially peaceful in her sleep—far more likable than her usual self at the office. All of her sharp, defensive fierceness was gone, replaced by a gentle calm.

’He liked gentle women.’

For some reason, the sight of the sleeping Vivian left Jasper in a daze. A familiar, graceful figure surfaced in his mind, overlapping with the woman before him.

Jasper couldn’t stop himself. He sat down on the edge of the bed, his long fingers casually brushing against her cheek, slowly tracing the outline of her face.

’That night, he had traced her face just like this...’

Perhaps too much time had passed, enough for him to have forgotten the feeling, because for an instant, he was struck by the illusion that Vivian was the woman from that night.

But then the memory of the student ID left in his room—and of Wanda Quincy—made him fall silent.
