A Favor Done, A Husband Won-Chapter 518 - 512: It’ll Take Two More People in Line to Hold the Kids in the Future
Shi Su returned to the bedroom to take a shower and called Miss Chen to let her know she was safe. Neither Miss Chen nor Jun knew she’d suddenly returned to Jiang City. Fortunately, apart from the variety program contract to be signed with Mr. He in a while, there were no other work commitments in the capital, so she wasn’t delaying work.
While blow-drying her hair, Mianmian sneaked in, placing a cup of warmed milk from Hui softly on the table without spilling a drop.
"Mommy, Mrs Hui said you and Daddy just got back and that you should rest well in the room, have some milk, and sleep a little longer. She’ll call you when dinner is ready." Mianmian set down the milk, then ran over to hug her leg, looking up with curiosity as she asked, "Mommy, why is your hair short now?"
Shi Su put down the hairdryer, picked up Mianmian, and sat on the bed, allowing Mianmian to raise her little hand and play with her hair. She glanced down at her own hair, now only collarbone-length: "Does Mommy not look good with short hair?"
"No, my Mommy is so beautiful, she looks good no matter what!" Mianmian, full of reliance, snuggled into her arms, softly saying while playing with her hair, "But Mommy’s hair smells so good. Now that it’s short, I have to crane my neck to smell it~"
Shi Su lowered her head to put it in front of her nose for her to smell to her heart’s content: "Isn’t it fragrant? Isn’t it?"
"Oh, it’s ticklish..." Mianmian squirmed around in Shi Su’s arms from the hair tickling her nose.
The mother and daughter played around in the room for quite a while. Mianmian even crawled into the bed, showing every intention to take an afternoon nap with Mommy in the room.
Shi Su finished blow-drying her hair, and when she lay down, Mianmian wriggled into her arms like a little eel, snuggling closely, her small hands curiously stroking Shi Su’s belly as she softly asked, "When will there be a little brother or sister in Mommy’s tummy?"
Shi Su: "Do you prefer a little brother or a little sister?"
Mianmian thought seriously for a while, then giggled, "I like both. If it’s a little brother, he can grow up to protect Mommy. If it’s a little sister, she can play house with me, wear skirts, and play princess~ Grandpa and Grandma said in a video call that they bought lots of pretty little skirts for me in the UK and sent them."
Shi Su suddenly focused on a key point in Mianmian’s words: "Grandpa and Grandma?"
Mianmian excitedly flipped up to sit, raising her hands to make a large gesture: "Grandpa and Grandma said they want us to often go stay in the UK. In the UK, they prepared a super big, super beautiful princess room for me at home, and downstairs is a rose garden Grandma planted herself~ Plus, Grandpa and Grandma often video call Great Grandpa and show them to me. Every time, they talk to me for ages, and many times I fall asleep without the call being ended. I’ve overheard Grandpa and Grandma secretly discussing whether they should just move back to the country to live."
Shi Su smiled, pulling the now joyful Mianmian into her arms, wrapping her in a blanket, and leaning down to kiss her little nose. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
It seems that the phrase "getting along well across generations" truly is something magical; Mianmian’s existence actually prompted Jing Jihan’s parents to consider returning to settle in the homeland.
It’s been said that as people get older, things they once cared about or were persistent about in their youth will often be let go due to some trivial matters. Children unknowingly grow up, and the elderly unknowingly let go.

Probably, the events happening in the capital haven’t quite escaped Mr. Jing’s ears.
When Shi Su and Mianmian woke up feeling refreshed and prepared to go to the front hall for dinner, they found that Jing Jihan had changed clothes and that there were also two distinguished doctors from Jiang City at home. They must have just thoroughly examined Jing Jihan under Mr. Jing’s supervision, confirming that he was indeed fine, allowing the old man’s expression to relax, even more so than when they first returned.
Shi Su and Mianmian entered the main hall and saw Mr. Li, who was preparing to see the doctors off. Turning her gaze, she saw Jing Jihan seated on the sofa chair beside Mr. Jing. When he returned, he was in sports casual wear; for the examination, he’d changed into more comfortable clothing. However, even in soft, loose home attire, he still looked dashing and well-shaped.
She couldn’t help but let her gaze sweep over him, even a simple glance was enough to firmly capture her attention.
Beside him was Zhou He, who rarely stayed for dinner at the Jing Family. Zhou had a decent physique, though not as tall as Jing Jihan’s. Having mingled in social engagements for years, he always wore a mellow smile. Though still a young man, he already had smile lines at the corners of his eyes. Leaner than Jing Jihan, he was wearing the suit from his office earlier, which was a bit thin, but still quite good-looking. To many young women, he would be a catch—handsome and wealthy, being the executive assistant to the president of a listed multinational company—much higher-ranking than an executive.
And as for Jing Jihan, even after losing some weight due to his injury, he remained well-proportioned. His face was a bit leaner, but after this period of recovery, he’d regained much of his health. His naturally serene and calm demeanor was captivating; just sitting there, he’d probably been discussing the situation in the capital with Mr. Jing not long ago, with Mr. Jing relaxed and gentle. Jing Jihan sat quietly by, exuding an unblemished elegance.
Sometimes Shi Su thought that compared to the distant, unattainably aloof Jing Jihan at the Yu Jing Group office, she preferred this look of him in casual home attire, as if a god descended to earth, yet without the least air of arrogance. That sense of distance with outsiders was almost completely hidden here, naturally clean and making one want to snuggle close and lean on his shoulder, inseparable.
At dinner, Mianmian had recently gotten used to eating with Great Grandpa and Great Grandma, obediently nestled between their chairs. Perfectly placed between them, the old man and old lady could enjoy a meal without any contention.
Mrs. Jing had Hui bring out dishes Shi Su loved: "Shi Su, during your days back in the capital, you’ve indeed lost quite a bit of weight. You need to replenish well. If staying at the Shi Family isn’t to your liking, you never have to go back to stay. With the Jing Family and Jihan, no one can take our daughter-in-law away."
Shi Su felt a warmth in her heart: "Thank you, Grandma."
The old lady nodded, continuing, "Recently, Hanhai and Xiu Lin are planning to return from the UK to settle here, but that Jing Sixue seems unlikely to come back. I heard they found a translator’s job for the child at a welfare home in London, in charge of receiving volunteers from around the world intending to adopt children, indicating she’s not planning to return to Jiang City with them."
Mr. Jing chuckled: "I think it’s not just them wanting to return and settle, they probably also want to come back and snatch their granddaughter. If Shi Su really has another child, there’ll be two more people in line to cuddle them!"
Shi Su nearly choked on her soup: "Cough, cough..."
