Chapter 427: Chapter 421: Mianmian, Come Here

He should also be here to pick up his child, just like everyone else, but he seemed unfamiliar.

Yet, just by standing quietly, he exuded an aura of dignified aloofness that made people feel reluctant to approach closely.

Even though he was softly speaking with the middle-aged woman beside him, warm and gentle, not as cold and stern as he usually appeared, people were still curious about who he was—whose parent could he be, never seen before.

Nearby parents glanced sideways, stealthily curious.

Soon, the children began streaming out from the teaching building, neatly lined up as they walked to the kindergarten’s entrance, waving goodbye to their teachers as they spotted their parents coming to pick them up.

Shi Mianmian came out of the gate carrying her adorable little backpack, saw Mrs. Qin standing amidst the crowd as usual looking inwardly, and giggled as she ran towards her.

Halfway there, she suddenly noticed the tall and upright figure next to Mrs. Qin, her cheerful little face froze for a moment, her eyes, like black grapes, widened and rounded, as if doubting what she saw, her cute pink sneakers rooted to the spot as she stared blankly in that direction.

Seeing Mianmian suddenly become motionless, Mrs. Qin couldn’t help but smile, encouragingly waved to her, "Mianmian, come over."

Mianmian, with an astounded expression, looked at Mrs. Qin’s cheerful face, then again at the familiar face of the uncle beside her, blinked, but remained rooted, not daring to move.

The surrounding parents all picked up their children successfully and were chatting away. Jing Jihan stepped forward out of the noisy crowd, approached Shi Mianmian until only two or three steps away, noticed her increasingly shocked look, his long legs under the suit pants stopped, and he slowly squatted down in her direction, as if the myriad worlds settled into the tenderest breeze in his ocean-like deep eyes, encircling the little figure before him.

The man’s gaze was warm and gentle, with no reservation at all, opened his arms: "Mianmian, come."

Mianmian stared at him, dazed, as time went on until many parents outside had left, making the surroundings much quieter.

The kindergarten teacher saw the situation here, thinking something might have happened, but saw the familiar aunt who regularly picked Shi Mianmian standing behind with a loving smile and even a bit of tears, seeming very happy and excited, paused her steps, not rushing to turn back into the building but stood by observing quietly.

"Mianmian." Jing Jihan looked at her, his voice deep and gentle: "Come."

Mianmian’s small feet moved slightly, a child unafraid of the familiar surging emotions, just stared blankly at him, but as she finally started moving forward again, she walked decisively towards Jing Jihan without hesitation.

"Ji Han Uncle..." Mianmian called out instinctively and timidly in a small voice, the next moment was directly held in the man’s embrace.

Though only four words, the small, low voice seemed an accidental nickname from years ago, yet it brought a poignant ache to Jing Jihan’s eyes that had never shed tears since he remembered. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The man held her like a long-lost pearl from the deep sea as if he missed a whole seven years of time, six years of growth, only having those few brief months of acquaintance two years ago, but those memories were etched too deeply to ever fade, and at this very instant, he embraced everything firmly.

Standing beside, Mrs. Qin couldn’t help wiping her tears. Although she didn’t know why Mr. Jing came to pick up the child today, she had heard even a bit of the sudden marriage news of Shi Su, despite not often surfing the internet, and having been beside Shi Su and Mianmian for a long time in these two years, seeing Mianmian sensibly never daring to mention Mr. Jing in front of Shi Su, but secretly often drawing him. Seeing Mr. Jing coming to pick up the child, how could she not be moved.

Mrs. Qin wiped her slightly excited tears and said, "Mr. Jing, I told you Mianmian hadn’t forgotten you, although she was only four years old two years ago, your impression was too deep for her, often secretly thinking of you, I told you... This child wouldn’t forget you no matter who she forgot... She truly remembers..."

Jing Jihan touched Mianmian’s cute little pigtail, looked at her still bewildered face, stood up holding her, then smiled while watching the little girl finally coming to her senses filled with surprise yet disbelief, rubbed her cute little nose lightly, "Silly little girl, scared?"

Mianmian blinked, quickly reached out and hugged Jing Jihan’s neck tightly: "No~ are you really Ji Han Uncle? Am I dreaming?!"

Surely Shi Su’s own child, capable of turning reality into a dream.

Always thinking she was dreaming.

Jing Jihan chuckled, carried her out, with Mrs. Qin hastily coming over intending to take the backpack off Mianmian and help carry it, thanked by Jing Jihan who removed the backpack from her back, holding her with one hand and walked towards the parking spot holding her little backpack in the other, refusing anyone’s offer for assistance.

Mrs. Qin no longer went over, just smiled watching them for a while, planning to talk to Shi Su on the phone later.

"Ji Han Uncle, pinch me, pinch me to see if it hurts, if it hurts, then it’s not a dream!" Mianmian was carried to the car by Jing Jihan, her soft little arms clung to his neck tirelessly, trying to nuzzle her small face closer to him.

Jing Jihan laughed at the little girl who proactively moved her face closer, put her backpack in the car, lifted his hand to softly pinch her small face.

"It’s too light, doesn’t hurt at all, pinch again to check." Mianmian continued nudging her small face forward.

How could Jing Jihan bear to pinch, kissed her little face and said tenderly, "I know a magical spell, as long as you can recite it, it means it’s not a dream."

"What spell?" Mianmian asked full of curiosity.

"The spell is simple, only two words." Jing Jihan chuckled as he placed Mianmian in the car, fastened her seatbelt while raising his elegant brow: "It’s, Daddy."

"Daddy?" Mianmian stared blankly at him, "Why?"

Jing Jihan gently pinched her little nose, "Because the daddy in dreams is fake, the daddy now is real, standing right before you."

Mianmian sat in the car, suddenly exclaiming, "Oh!"

Jing Jihan looked at her because of her "Oh", "What’s wrong?"

Mianmian suddenly took out a small toy from under her bottom that had fallen from her backpack, with a distressed expression said: "It poked my bottom..."

Then excitedly said: "My bottom actually hurts!"

Jing Jihan: "..."

The mother and daughter’s thought processes are indeed unusual.
