A Favor Done, A Husband Won-Chapter 355 - 349: Who’s Distracted?
Jing Jihan didn’t show any displeasure due to Miss Chen’s repeated accusations, standing calmly at the front of the group, his expression cold and steady.
It wasn’t until Miss Chen finished her words that the hotel manager, who had been standing half a meter behind Jing Jihan the whole time, finally spoke: "Miss, we are truly sorry for the unpleasant experience during your stay. We will immediately assign someone to investigate the matter and provide you with an explanation."
Miss Chen smirked: "An explanation? That’s not what your reception said when I went to the front desk on the first floor. Their attitude was extremely arrogant, not taking my complaint seriously, even trying to brush us off as if we are fools! If even the front desk looks down on people like this, let alone you, the hotel manager."
As she spoke, she glanced at the hotel manager’s name tag on his chest and gave a meaningful smirk: "It’s not just because your superior is here for an inspection, and I happened to catch you, that you have to act all responsible, is it?"
Jing Jihan glanced at the hotel manager with an inscrutable look.
Under the sudden scrutiny of his superior, the hotel manager felt a chill down his spine and quickly said, "Not at all! While it is indeed our fault that this lady and her friend had a bad experience, there is no need for such speculation. We will come up with a solution, and if compensation is required, the hotel will promptly provide compensation."
"Compensation?" At this point, Miss Chen suddenly pulled Shi Su, who was inexplicably silent behind her, and gently pushed her to the front.
Shi Su didn’t anticipate her sudden action and was caught off guard, stumbling slightly and suddenly standing in front of Miss Chen and the group... including Jing Jihan.
Shi Su was about to turn back in confusion, but Miss Chen confidently spoke from behind: "See? Our star got back to the hotel very late last night after work, and was disturbed by someone knocking on the door in the middle of the night. Then that person came again before dawn, scaring our star out of her wits!"
Shi Su: ?
Who was scared out of their wits?
Isn’t that a bit exaggerated?
The hotel executives, who had come with their superior to this floor, all looked at Shi Su, recognizing her as the famous actress.
Unexpectedly, Shi Su did show some signs of being spooked on her face...
If it’s not because she’s exceptionally good at acting and can perform so naturally in daily life, then maybe she was indeed frightened.
The hotel manager politely addressed Shi Su: "Are you Miss Shi Su? I’ll immediately call the person in charge of room service to investigate last night’s incident thoroughly. Once the situation is clarified, our hotel will take responsibility and offer compensation. We hope you can give us a chance to make amends."
Shi Su’s hair hadn’t dried yet, and the air conditioning in the corridor was a bit chilly, which made her realize she was barefoot.
Seeing the managerial smile in the hotel manager’s eyes, she composed herself to fit her role as a guest. But Miss Chen had already said everything that needed saying; saying any harsh words herself would damage her image. So, she just nodded.
The hotel manager then looked at Miss Chen: "Miss Shi Su has agreed, may I ask if you..."
"Then solve it. Your superior is watching, I really want to see how fast your solution will be," Miss Chen crossed her arms, wearing an expression unconcerned about escalating the matter, and glanced at the famed Mr. Jing.
The hotel manager, somewhat embarrassed and a little panicked, quickly spoke from behind Jing Jihan: "Mr. Jing, it’s indeed unfortunate, otherwise we should first..."
"Go where?" Jing Jihan spoke with an expressionless face. His tone, clear and emotionless, brought a chilling pressure: "Shouldn’t you be doing what needs to be done right now?"
The hotel manager’s face tightened under Jing Jihan’s intense gaze. He promptly hurried the executives beside him to begin investigating the matter.
He then turned back to face Jing Jihan respectfully, putting on a flattering smile: "Mr. Jing, you see..."
Jing Jihan remained at his spot, unyielding, speaking in his consistently cold voice: "You’ve sent your people to work, yet you’re still standing here. Do you think I want to see you?"
"...Mr., Mr. Jing, it’s because you’re here, so I didn’t dare leave. Your assistant isn’t here today, I can’t just leave you here..."
The man stood calmly, saying no more.
But the chill in his eyes made the hotel manager hurriedly nod and bow, turning swiftly to leave. This issue they must resolve personally, or being caught by Mr. Jing aside, the guest’s presence indicates it’s not something easily dismissed.
Miss Chen turned her gaze to the elegantly aloof and strikingly handsome man.
He hadn’t said many words from the start, but each word brought a pressure that was instinctively felt.
It was an inherent charisma of authority, a silent force that commanded respect, especially when he casually glanced in their direction; his cool eyes reflected the very distance and coldness reputed in rumors, rendering him enigmatic and unapproachable.
As she observed, she noted that he never lingered his gaze on Shi Su, as if he had never known her.
The corridor was now quieter, with a few executives leaving, leaving two or three still standing respectfully and tensely half a meter behind Jing Jihan.
In the moment of cool stillness, Shi Su spoke to Miss Chen: "I’ll go back to dry my hair. Once everything’s settled, we need to catch a flight. Let’s not waste too much time."
With that, she gave a polite nod towards Jing Jihan’s group, not really looking at him, and turned back to her room.
...
The sound of the hairdryer wasn’t loud, whirring as it blew warm air.
Yet it somewhat masked the subtle sound of the door opening.
When Miss Chen returned, Shi Su’s hair was almost dry, and catching a glimpse through the mirror of Miss Chen casually leaning against the bathroom door, Shi Su gradually stopped drying her hair. Until she unplugged the hairdryer and set it aside, running her fingers through her hair, she asked, "Did you do it on purpose?"
Miss Chen lowered her eyes, nonchalantly touching her pretty nails: "In what way?"
Shi Su suddenly turned to face her directly.
Only then did Miss Chen focus on her face and quickly confessed: "I did hear rumors about you and Mr. Jing having a past, but those were just hearsay, Jun and the others never mentioned it."
