Chapter 303: Chapter 299: Mianmian Has a Dad

"The child was originally picked up and dropped off by the elders of the family. But when the child’s parents heard their child was hit, they came straight to the kindergarten. Now, they’re waiting in the director’s office for an explanation, also waiting to meet Mianmian’s parents," the kindergarten teacher said, nervously glancing at the gentleman.

The parents of the child who was hit are not easy people to deal with. The director is being troubled inside, but seeing these two gentlemen, though they haven’t said anything, from their demeanor one can tell they are not ordinary people, even more so can’t be offended.

Jing Jihan walked over and looked down at Shi Mianmian. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Shi Mianmian looked up at him too, her eyes red, clearly having cried earlier, but now stubbornly keeping her eyes open without shedding another tear.

He gently traced the red mark on Mianmian’s face, didn’t directly ask Mianmian why she hit someone, but after a moment of eye contact with Mianmian, turned his gaze to the teacher, speaking in a cold tone: "Was it Mianmian who hit the child, or did the two children fight each other, with the other side being injured more severely?"

"Uh..." The kindergarten teacher was momentarily stunned by his direct question. "They fought each other, but that child got red streaks in his eyes from being hit by Mianmian, and his face was scratched."

Lu Zhao standing to the side, said in displeasure: "You didn’t see the injuries on Mianmian’s face?"

The kindergarten teacher awkwardly glanced at Mianmian: "The kids were all crying inside earlier, we didn’t pay much attention."

Jing Jihan’s expression suddenly turned sharp, his voice cold and heavy with an invisible pressure: "Didn’t pay much attention? Children at a young age are inevitably going to have small collisions, if it’s a minor issue we won’t mind, but now that the situation has led to both children hitting each other, you immediately are standing on the side of the other child accusing Mianmian of hitting, the situation as you described deviates greatly from the truth, is this what an educator should be doing, should be saying?"

The kindergarten teacher immediately felt awkward: "I’m sorry... I was just anxious to express that the parents of the other child are seeking an explanation from the kindergarten, so I said..."

Jing Jihan said sternly: "Assigning responsibility first to one of the children, you’re an adult, and in a moment of panic you’re willing to label a four-year-old with a false accusation? Do you not understand how deeply your words could affect a child’s heart?"

The young kindergarten teacher clasped her hands in front, her fingers nervously twisting together, not able to utter a word.

Jing Jihan didn’t look at her again, instead, turned his gaze to Shi Mianmian: "Mianmian, tell me and Mr. Lu, why did you fight with your friend? What’s the reason?"

Mianmian was suddenly asked, she stared at him with her red eyes, and after a muffled silence of over ten seconds she said: "Haohao said I have no daddy, he also said I got a fake daddy to sign on my drawing paper!"

She spoke the first few words clearly, but the latter half was already choked with sobs.

Jing Jihan’s hand paused at her head because of her words, looked down at her for a long time, Mianmian’s tears danced in her eyes but were unwilling to fall.

Mommy said girls can’t be bullied and can’t cry casually in front of others.

Anyway, she fought back and already cried.

Now she won’t cry.

She absolutely won’t cry!

She thought this but when Jing Jihan crouched down in front of her, face to face, Mianmian’s tears still suddenly fell "plop."

"What happened?" Even though Jing Jihan was crouched in front of Mianmian, he coldly glanced at the kindergarten teacher.

The kindergarten teacher recalled today’s events before speaking: "This afternoon I asked the children to hand in last night’s homework. When Miss Shi brought Mianmian to kindergarten, the child’s school enrollment record showed the father’s column was missing. The kindergarten has some understanding of the children’s family situations and knew Mianmian didn’t have a father. So we originally thought her drawing homework might be blank, but surprisingly she drew something and even had a parent’s signature on it. I casually asked Mianmian if her dad has come back, or if she drew someone else? Mianmian hadn’t answered yet, but Haohao sitting next to her suddenly said she didn’t have a daddy..."

At this point, the kindergarten teacher stopped and didn’t continue, but it was clear that the child didn’t just say this simple sentence.

Mianmian suddenly turned her head towards the teacher and loudly said: "Haohao called me a liar and made fun of me! Said I drew a fake daddy, and found a fake daddy! Said I can’t possibly have a father! Said I’m a wild child no daddy wants!"

After saying this, Mianmian suddenly turned back to look at Jing Jihan: "I’m not a wild child!"

Jing Jihan looked at Mianmian’s angry eyes and directly scooped her into his arms, giving her full affirmation: "Yes, you’re not, Mianmian has a daddy, daddy is right here."

Jing Jihan’s words made Lu Zhao slightly startled and the kindergarten teacher standing beside stunned too.

Mianmian was momentarily dazed being embraced by him, but within a few seconds, the Mianmian who had been holding back suddenly burst into tears, lifting her small arms and tightly hugging Jing Jihan’s neck, as if all her grievances were poured out, saying nothing, just continuously holding him and crying.

Jing Jihan crouched in front of the kindergarten, holding her and patiently patting her back, not in a hurry to stand up, waiting for her to cry enough, giving her the right to cry that a child of four or five years old should have.

Until Mianmian was tired from crying, huddled in his arms and sobbing but still clinging to his neck, he gently stroked her little head: "If you haven’t cried enough, you can cry more when we go home tonight, you can tell me whatever grievance you feel. Now we need to go inside and resolve this issue, Mianmian be good, whether we’ve done wrong or the other party has, now that the matter has occurred, we need to resolve it, need to face it, shall we go inside together?"

Mianmian pouted in his arms, looking worried as if fearing he would suffer, she whispered: "Haohao’s daddy and mommy are really fierce."

Jing Jihan chuckled with a sigh.

Standing beside, Lu Zhao who had been frowning at the kindergarten’s unwise handling, couldn’t help but laugh softly.

Until Mianmian nodded, Jing Jihan stood up and held her little hand, giving the dazed kindergarten teacher a glance: "Where is the director’s office, lead the way please."

"Ah, yes," the kindergarten teacher hurriedly turned towards the inner corridor, but her expression was still more anxious.

Jing Jihan held Mianmian and walked inside, Lu Zhao followed.

The director’s office was located on the third floor of the kindergarten teaching building. After walking up, when they were two meters outside the office, they heard a woman’s voice inside: "Our Haohao was beaten like this, if his eyes have any problems later, can your kindergarten afford the compensation?"
