A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners-Chapter 119: Erick
Oliver pretended there was nothing wrong. This was something that could be talked about among men, but it didn't need to be too obvious.
As he drank his wine, Edward suddenly nudged his leg from under the table.
When Oliver looked at him, Edward gestured with his eyes toward the entrance.
A man their age walked into the hotel, alone.
He had neat black hair and wore glasses that gave him an elegant look, which suited his refined face.
He was a bit thin, but not to the point of looking malnourished; it simply complemented his appearance and style.
Oliver wasn't sure who he was, but Edward then whispered in his ear.
"He's Erick Rothschild, Rebecca's new fiancé. I didn't expect him to come. Even though I invited him, for him to travel all this way, it's probably to meet Rebecca."
"Ohhh..." Oliver made a strange expression when he heard that.
Rebecca's new fiancé.
From being with Edward, Rebecca had been given a new fiancé by her family.
Since this was a family rule, she couldn't protest too loudly, as the family had a long tradition of cousin marriages.
Some people could escape this tradition, but for the newest generation, it was more difficult because the rules were stricter.
Even Edward had likely been given a new fiancée, but he had clearly decided he would only choose Lestari, who was more appealing—not just beautiful, but also powerful.
With that advantage, he was confident he could get the elders to agree because it meant he was bringing a formidable figure into their family.
Men had opportunities like this, but it was more difficult for women because they were female, and their descendants would practically become their husbands' descendants.
Even if they married powerful men, it was considered less beneficial for the family.
But what about that? Rebecca didn't even like the man named Erick personally.
"Erick is a bit physically weak, the type who prefers to be alone and study without much social interaction. Maybe he's a bit timid, but he tends to fight for what he's interested in. Rebecca, she might not be able to resist his charm, so she's trying her luck," Edward whispered to Oliver again, chuckling softly.
"She's only going to hurt her own heart," Oliver replied, not bothering to lower his voice.
That was the fact because he knew about her relationship with Rebecca.
Their connection wasn't just for mutual interest or physical desire.
It had grown into a love where they couldn't be separated anymore.
"Do you want to talk to him? I can arrange a conversation for the two of you," Edward said.
Having listened to their conversation, Alex became confused, not understanding because Edward had been whispering before.
"What do I need to tell him?" Oliver asked.
"Just tell him everything. He'll definitely back off and be scared," Edward replied.
Oliver shook his head at that.
"I don't think I'm suited to say something like that. What if you just tell him?" Oliver asked Edward.
The latter showed a strange expression upon hearing that.
"I might help you with other things, but this could destroy my reputation in the family," he said with a chuckle.
Oliver rolled his eyes and said, "Then just leave it."
Right after he said that, he suddenly saw a waiter call Erick over, say something to him, and then guide him toward the elevator.
"Oh, where is he going?" Edward wondered.
"Rebecca is upstairs," Oliver said in response because when he started to sense the aura around him, even without his Void Sense, he felt Rebecca's aura, which was too familiar to him.
He hadn't sensed it before. She seemed to have been at this hotel from the beginning but might have gone to the Chaotic World and only returned recently after he arrived.
Edward was a bit surprised to hear that.
"Let's follow him. We need to see what Rebecca is doing," he said, looking very curious.
He even stood up immediately, and Oliver, of course, agreed.
"Can I come?" Alex asked.
Edward looked at Oliver, unable to decide.
However, Oliver nodded, not refusing.
He was worried Alex would die of curiosity.
As they walked toward the elevator, Erick had already gotten in.
Of course, there wasn't just one elevator. They used another one.
Because Edward joined them, they always attracted attention, and their movements were even observed by the elites, including Jimmy and Via, Edward's parents.
Evylin also looked at them, but only briefly.
"Is that your student who is said to be a Cultivation genius, Evylin?" Jimmy asked his own niece.
He already knew about Oliver from his son, knowing he was his niece's student.
With that status, as his niece's student, he also considered Oliver as a relative. That was why he didn't mind Edward being friends with him.
He just didn't know that Oliver was the indirect cause of his son's engagement to Rebecca ending, and that Oliver had even started a relationship with Rebecca.
Their conversation was not only heard by the two of them, but by several other elites, including Linda Allen.
The latter looked surprised.
"Edward keeps talking about how great this student of yours is. Is he really that good, Evylin?" Via Allen also asked.
Although she didn't have a direct family relationship with Evylin, her husband was her uncle, so it was natural for her to call her by her first name directly, as Evylin herself was not here in her official capacity.
"He's already at the peak of the Earth Master Realm, and he hasn't been cultivating for even a month," Evylin answered casually.
Although she was the cold type, she was clearly proud of her student.
And her words made the elites fall silent.
It was said that the weakness of Cultivators was that they progressed slowly, even for talented geniuses, and most Cultivators even got stuck in a dead end.
But in less than a month, he reached the peak of the Earth Master Realm.
Even when compared to an Awakener, a Third-Stage Cultivator of the Earth Master Realm was equivalent to a Level 35 Awakener. The peak, it was likely equivalent to Level 40, one step away from a greater transformation.
The question was whether there was any Awakener who had reached that level in less than a month?
This was unheard of. Even some Awakeners with the best innate talent were ultimately still stuck at a certain level where they had to deepen their power foundation first before they could continue leveling up.
Evylin smiled slightly, seeing the reactions of the people.
She deliberately told them about this so they would know what kind of power she had.
This seemed like luck, but it meant luck was on her side.
Besides her own extraordinary abilities, her student was the same.
Anyone who dared to oppose her needed to think seriously.
Schemes? What use were they compared to power?
With Evylin's current power, in England, she could say that no one could threaten her. Even in the entire world, there might be no one who could kill her because that would require a power far above hers, and there was clearly no such figure that strong.
Those who were stronger were only slightly stronger.
What about nuclear weapons?
Unfortunately, she was more dangerous than nuclear weapons.
She was truly capable of unleashing power that was as devastating as nuclear weapons.
And while nuclear weapons had limitations, she could gather energy again to unleash that attack continuously.
Meanwhile, when they reached the top floor of the hotel, Oliver and the other two immediately saw Erick, walking to the end of the hallway alone.
He then turned left at the end of that hallway, entering the next one.
Edward looked even more curious, so he was the first to step forward and even walked in a hurry.
The hallway Erick entered was not long, with one room door.
In front of that door, Rebecca stood with an indifferent attitude, wearing only a casual dress that was actually quite short.
She looked like she had just finished bathing and hadn't had time to put on clothes.
Alex's eyes widened when he saw her, reacting as if he had seen an angel because of how beautiful and charming the blonde woman was.
Erick hadn't realized he was being followed, but Rebecca, whose eyes were focused in the opposite direction, naturally saw the three of them immediately.
"What a coincidence, come on in..." She said, waving her hand at them.
Erick was surprised, immediately realizing it wasn't for him.
Looking back, he finally realized he had been followed.
Of course, he recognized Edward, but he didn't know the other two.
"Edward, Rebecca, what is this?" Erick asked with a hesitant tone.
Before he was engaged to Rebecca, it was Edward who was engaged to her.
Why did he feel like the two of them wanted to see him?
"I'm the one who should be asking. What are you doing here? Did you travel all this way just for Edward's birthday?" Rebecca replied, staring at Erick with no expression.
"Or for me?" she added.
Erick was, of course, very surprised to be asked such a question.
But his purpose was indeed for her, but was there something wrong if he came to see her after their engagement was made official?
Erick wondered why his arrival seemed to be wrong in Rebecca's eyes.
Even though the woman was only asking, she clearly considered his arrival wrong.
