80s Marriage Swap: My Should-Be-Dead Husband Lives On-Chapter 159: A Dress
Wei Qing felt a peculiar sensation when she saw Lin Wen call the aunt over.
"Miss Wei Qing, are you alright?"
The aunt looked at Wei Qing.
Wei Qing shook her head: "It’s nothing, just twisted it accidentally."
"Let me help you down."
Wei Qing got off the car with the aunt’s assistance.
Lin Wen watched from the side, without stepping in.
Only after the aunt helped Wei Qing inside did Lin Wen drive away.
Wei Qing felt a bit lost when she heard the car engines revving outside.
Ning Yayan came downstairs and saw the aunt supporting Wei Qing, perplexed: "What happened?"
Wei Qing replied: "I accidentally twisted my ankle."
"Weren’t you out with Wei Lai? Why did you come back alone?" Ning Yayan asked curiously.
They had planned to go watch the lanterns, but it was only Wei Qing now.
Wei Qing remembered that they had agreed to release lanterns by the river at ten, but she forgot to inform them.
"Mom, could you send someone to the riverside to tell brother and them that I’m already back?"
Ning Yayan was puzzled but still sent someone to find Wei Lai.
"What’s the matter with you?" Ning Yayan helped Wei Qing to the sofa.
Wei Qing: "It’s nothing, just twisted my ankle accidentally."
"But weren’t you with your brother?" Ning Yayan queried.
Wei Qing: "Don’t ask, I didn’t do anything bad."
Ning Yayan sighed: "I know you well; the only bad thing you did was bothering Sang Yu before."
Mentioning this made Wei Qing somewhat embarrassed: "Oh mom, please don’t bring it up."
Ning Yayan: "Feeling embarrassed now, huh?"
Wei Qing lowered her head, saying nothing.
Ning Yayan wasn’t really blaming Wei Qing, just worried she’d be in an awkward situation.
"Is your ankle serious? Did you see a doctor?"
Wei Qing nodded: "I did, it’s fine."
"That’s good, you should go upstairs and rest then."
Wei Qing nodded, and the aunt helped her upstairs.
When the aunt came down, Ning Yayan asked: "Who brought Miss Wei Qing home?"
Aunt: "It was a man."
"What kind of man?"
Aunt: "Didn’t pay much attention."
Ning Yayan squinted: "Understood."
...
When Ning Yayan’s sent people found Wei Lai, they were searching for Wei Qing.
"Shouldn’t Xiao Qing be in trouble?" Jiang Ning was somewhat worried.
Wei Lai furrowed his brows, worried as well.
Liu Qinghuan: "She shouldn’t be, with police everywhere, nothing should happen. Don’t worry; our agreed time hasn’t arrived yet, has it? Let’s go to the riverside first; maybe Wei Qing found herself alone and went ahead."
Jiang Ning agreed: "Yeah, how about we check the riverside? It’s almost time anyway."
Wei Lai glanced at his watch; ten minutes still to ten.
Scanning around, he didn’t spot Wei Qing, "Alright."
So, Wei Lai and the others headed to the riverside.
As they went, they met Xu Ru’an and Lu Yuan.
Xu Ru’an held two beautiful lanterns in his hands, while Lu Yuan was carrying bags full of items.
"What are you guys doing with all this stuff?"
Jiang Ning looked at the loaded companions.
Xu Ru’an laughed shyly: "Sorry, couldn’t resist."
"Where’s Wei Qing?" Xu Ru’an noticed she was missing from their group.
"We don’t know, we thought she was with you," Liu Qinghuan said.
Wei Lai looked serious since Wei Qing had an incident before.
He should have monitored more closely.
Seeing Wei Lai uneasy, Xu Ru’an said: "Don’t worry, she might just be wandering around; there are cops everywhere, nothing bad can happen."
Lu Yuan also assured: "Relax, she might show up soon."
"Right, exactly," Xu Ru’an concurred.
Wei Lai furrowed his brows even more.
His gaze kept searching the surroundings.
Everyone felt some urgency; despite numerous patrolling officers, some miscreants are hard to guard against.
After a while, Wei Lai started feeling anxious: "I’ll go search."
"I’ll join you." Liu Qinghuan also said.
"Let’s go together," Lu Yuan suggested.
"Alright."
As they were about to leave, Ning Yayan’s people arrived.
"Young Master Wei Lai."
"Why are you here?" Wei Lai looked at familiar faces.
"Madam asked us to inform you Miss Wei Qing has returned home, no need to worry."
Relieved, Wei Lai finally relaxed.
Others let out a sigh: "Home safely, thankfully."
Wei Lai: "Why didn’t she inform sooner?"
"Miss Wei Qing seems injured."
"Injured?" Jiang Ning was surprised.
"What? Severe or not?" Liu Qinghuan asked.
The person shook his head: "Not clear, but seems like a sprain."
"Shall we go check on her?"
Before Liu Qinghuan finished, the person said: "No need, madam informed us to reassure you, Miss Wei Qing’s fine."
Wei Lai: "Alright, noted. You can return now."
"Okay."
The man walked away.
Liu Qinghuan: "Shouldn’t we go see Wei Qing?"
Wei Lai shook his head: "No need, appears nothing significant, since mom said so, no worry."
"Are we still releasing lanterns?" Jiang Ning hesitated if it’s appropriate to say.
She was quite eager after all.
"Yes," Wei Lai answered.
"Let’s go," Lu Yuan said.
"Sure, let’s go."
The group proceeded to the riverside with bought lanterns.
There were even more people now than before, and the river was filled with lanterns, turning it into a colorful starry river.
"I’ve written my wish on my lantern; hope my dreams come true," Jiang Ning said, excitedly.
Liu Qinghuan asked curiously: "What’s your wish?"
Jiang Ning openly replied: "I wish to travel the world."
Liu Qinghuan: "Love your wish."
Jiang Ning raised her eyebrows.
"And you?" Jiang Ning asked.
Liu Qinghuan: "My wish is simple; I want a dress."
Jiang Ning looked at Liu Qinghuan curiously: "A dress? How’s that a wish?"
Liu Qinghuan explained: "I don’t want just a regular dress; I want a dress that belongs solely to me, unique."
"Why not have a designer specially tailor one for you?" Jiang Ning found it puzzling.
Liu Qinghuan: "I’ve tried, but felt something was missing, so I hope someday I own a truly special dress."
Jiang Ning: "Seems hard to achieve."
Liu Qinghuan wasn’t discouraged: "It’s okay, even if it doesn’t come true, I will always hope."
