Chapter 380: New Student Xiang Meng

There were quite a few people in the library, many of whom were preparing for the academic exchange meeting.

Xu Mumu found the book she needed and started reading quietly. The library had a strong learning atmosphere, which Xu Mumu really liked, as it made it easier for her to focus on her reading.

While Xu Mumu was reading, a boy sat opposite her, "Hey, can I sit here?" he asked with a somewhat shy smile.

"Feel free," Xu Mumu looked up briefly and said lightly, while simultaneously taking notes on her notepad, jotting down things she didn’t understand to ask Professor Song about later.

"Are you also majoring in Physics?" the boy asked with a hint of excitement, noticing the book in Xu Mumu’s hands.

"Hmm?" Xu Mumu was a little annoyed by the interruption.

"I’m also a Physics major, specializing in Materials Physics. My name is Xiang Meng. I didn’t expect we’d have this much in common," he said enthusiastically.

"Are you a freshman?" Xu Mumu glanced at the boy. She knew about this major because Professor Song had mentioned at home that the Physics Department would have a new major, Materials Physics, this year. She hadn’t expected to meet a student from that program so soon.

"Yes, actually. Are you a senior?" Xiang Meng’s eyes widened in surprise. Xu Mumu looked so youthful that he thought she might be younger than him. He didn’t expect her to be a sophomore.

"Yes, I’m a sophomore." Xu Mumu nodded with a smile, appreciating Xiang Meng’s surprise.

"Wow, you’re amazing, getting into Hua University in your first year," Xiang Meng said, looking at Xu Mumu with some envy.

"Not really, you’re not bad either," Xu Mumu smiled faintly. Not just anyone can get into Hua University without some real skills, right?

"I didn’t do well in the exams last year, so I didn’t go to college and spent another half-year reviewing before I got into Hua University," Xiang Meng said, somewhat embarrassed. This senior was really pretty, her voice was soft and gentle, and he wondered if she had a boyfriend.

"That’s still pretty good," Xu Mumu said warmly. Spending an extra half-year for a better future was a worthwhile trade.

"Are you preparing for the academic exchange meeting?" Xiang Meng asked, knowing about the event.

"No, I’m not participating," Xu Mumu shook her head. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"You’re not participating? I thought I might see your impressive performance at the exchange," Xiang Meng said regretfully.

"Are you participating?" Xu Mumu raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Yes, I’m assisting the teacher who’s taking us there, so I get to go along and gain some experience," Xiang Meng said shyly, his eyes showing some anticipation for the exchange.

"Then good luck," Xu Mumu said dryly in encouragement.

"Thank you, senior." Xiang Meng laughed happily, looking a bit silly with joy. "Oh, I still don’t know your name," he said, scratching his head, not forgetting to chat her up.

He’s already twenty-two and hasn’t married yet, hoping to find a partner at university.

As soon as he entered the library today, Xu Mumu caught his eye while quietly reading in the corner.

"Xu Mumu," she wrote her name on a piece of paper and handed it to Xiang Meng.

"Your name sounds so nice," Xiang Meng said, feeling thrilled to learn his crush’s name.

"Thank you," Xu Mumu smiled and resumed her reading.

Xiang Meng wanted to say something more but seeing how engrossed she was in her book, he swallowed his words.

Instead, he continued to occasionally sneak glances at Xu Mumu. The more he looked, the more he liked her, wondering how a girl could look so perfectly his type.

Xu Mumu noticed Xiang Meng’s sneaky glances but didn’t mind; she was used to being watched.

She wasn’t very outgoing, and with Mrs. Liu’s cooking being nourishing and her own efforts in exercising, her skin was smooth and fair, features exquisite and gentle. As she matured, she naturally grew more attractive.

She didn’t remember what Xu Xue looked like, but she was satisfied with her current appearance.

Setting down her book, she rubbed her eyes, glanced at her watch—Yin Yang’s class would end in ten minutes, and it was time for her to leave.

"Are you leaving?" Xiang Meng started packing up as he noticed Xu Mumu waving.

"Yes." Xu Mumu glanced at Xiang Meng.

"Are you going to the cafeteria? Let me treat you. I also have some study questions I could use your help with," Xiang Meng said bashfully, his fair, refined face turning slightly red, his ears burning with embarrassment. He had never asked a girl out before.

"No need, I don’t eat at the cafeteria. I’m going to see my boyfriend; his class is ending. If you have questions, you can ask your teacher directly," Xu Mumu said with a smile, deciding not to lead him on.

"You have a boyfriend?" Xiang Meng felt like a bolt from the blue; it took so much to find a girl he liked, only for her to have a boyfriend already.

"Yes, and we’ll probably be getting married soon. Goodbye," Xu Mumu said with a smile, making herself clear. She packed her small bag, returned the borrowed books, and left the library.

Outside, it had started to drizzle. Xu Mumu took an umbrella from her bag, opened it, and quickly headed towards Yin Yang’s classroom.

Watching Xu Mumu leave with the umbrella, Xiang Meng hugged his books, looked at the drizzling rain outside, donned the hood of his jacket, and left as well. His love plans ended before they even began, struck down before they had a chance.

Xu Mumu arrived outside Yin Yang’s classroom where the light rain had begun to blow into the corridor, with the wind scattering dry leaves everywhere.

Using her umbrella to shield herself, she waited outside the corridor, still a few minutes to go.

As soon as Xu Mumu arrived, Yin Yang noticed her, wanting to rush out immediately if not for class still being in session.

There were many girls in Yin Yang’s class, and naturally, they noticed Xu Mumu too. Many girls admired how dedicated he was to his girlfriend. In this class, all the girls had seen Xu Mumu. Some knew they couldn’t compare to her, though a few were still unwilling to accept it.

As she waited, Xu Mumu felt the intense stares of jealousy from several directions, but she was used to such looks and didn’t let them bother her.

Outside the classroom, Xu Mumu wasn’t alone—others were waiting, both boys and girls. It was unclear whom they were waiting for.
