Chapter 378: Calling Home

When Professor Song and the others returned around noon, they already knew about this matter. Both of them were happy for Xu Mumu and the others, especially Professor Song, who was extremely proud.

After having lunch, Xu Mumu changed into a new set of clothes and went to the newly allocated house together with Yin Yang.

This house was probably specially chosen by Yin Yang, as it wasn’t far from his courtyard house, taking just over half an hour to reach.

"It’s actually a courtyard house, so big," Xu Mumu said excitedly. Although it’s not as large as Yin Yang’s Prince Mansion, her own isn’t too shabby either, and she’s already very satisfied. Now she’s someone who owns property in the Imperial City, something that some people might strive for their whole lives but never achieve.

Opening the door to the house and walking inside, the yard was quite clean. This is likely a house confiscated a few years ago, with things inside cleared out completely. Although the house is a bit old, it can easily be lived in for decades without any issue.

There’s a well in the yard and a flowerbed, with flowers and plants growing everywhere without any care or trimming over the years.

The little courtyard has quite a few rooms, and Xu Mumu felt she could accommodate her entire large family here. Even if she doesn’t live in it later, renting it out would still be very profitable with the rent.

Overall, Xu Mumu was very satisfied with this little courtyard.

"Mumu, do you want me to find someone to renovate this place?" Yin Yang asked as he strolled around and approached Xu Mumu.

"Renovating it sounds good. Next year, we’ll rent out this courtyard," Xu Mumu said, touching her chin. This little courtyard’s location is quite good, not far from several universities nearby. Once she spreads the word that she’s looking to rent, plenty of people will be tempted.

"Sounds good," Yin Yang nodded with a smile. This location is indeed quite good; if the lifestyle isn’t too extravagant, the rent alone could suffice to earn without doing anything.

After surveying her territory, Xu Mumu and Yin Yang left in a good mood.

Having been vacant for several years, the house now surprisingly has an owner, drawing curiosity from nearby families.

Seeing Xu Mumu and Yin Yang, many people were amazed. The two of them looked so good, like a perfect couple.

Xu Mumu even noticed a couple of girls secretly eyeing Yin Yang. His face was truly attractive to admirers.

"What are you looking at?" Yin Yang asked curiously, seeing Xu Mumu glancing behind them, though there was nothing there.

"There was a girl watching you there earlier, but she’s already closed the window, so you can’t see her," Xu Mumu said calmly. Every time they went out, people watched them, and she’d gotten used to it.

"Alright, don’t get jealous. Let’s go eat chicken stew with mushrooms," Yin Yang said gently, not bothered by it at all. He was used to such attention.

Yin Yang took Xu Mumu to a small courtyard, ordering a chicken stew with mushrooms. The two had been here before and liked it. With today’s good mood, Xu Mumu came along with Yin Yang again.

By the time they returned, it was already getting dark, and Professor Song and Professor Jian were leisurely cooling off in the courtyard.

"Had enough fun outside?" Professor Song asked with a smile, looking at the two of them.

"Not yet," Yin Yang said calmly.

"Sir Song, we’ve bought new clothes for you," Xu Mumu said, taking out the clothes she had prepared for Professor Song and feeling a bit embarrassed.

"New clothes, huh? This color is nice; I’ll go try it on," Professor Song said excitedly, grabbing the clothes and heading off to try them.

Yin Yang twitched his mouth; his grandfather was easily won over by the little girlfriend, leaving him out of favor in the family.

Once Professor Song changed into the new clothes, Xu Mumu showered them with compliments, making them feel delighted.

When it seemed enough, Xu Mumu went to make a phone call to their hometown.

Upon getting the people there to call over her mother and the others, the first to answer was Xu Minglei. Xu Minglei got out of school relatively early, and this semester the kids had skipped straight to ninth grade, leaving Xu Mumu a bit helpless. But since they entered it based on their own merits, she couldn’t suppress their enthusiasm for studying.

"Sis, why are you calling again?" Xu Minglei asked eagerly, as it had been several days since he last heard his sister’s voice.

"Of course, because I miss you all. Is everything okay at home lately?" Xu Mumu asked with a smile, noting how much her brother had grown.

"Everything’s fine, Sis, you don’t need to worry," Xu Minglei replied earnestly.

"As long as things are fine. Where’s Mom, give her the phone; I have something to tell her," Xu Mumu said softly.

"Daughter, are you looking for me? Did Yin Yang bully you?" Li Caixia jumped in directly, making her son move aside to snatch the phone upon hearing her daughter wanted to speak to her.

Hearing her daughter wanted her, Li Caixia, who was busy helping Director Wu mediate family disputes, instinctively imagined a scenario of her daughter being bullied like a poor little thing.

"Mom, where did you get that idea? It’s not true," Xu Mumu said with a laugh and tears, wondering what thoughts float in her mother’s mind daily. Is she really that easy to bully? Yin Yang’s small frame couldn’t possibly bully her.

"Really nothing’s wrong?" Li Caixia was still a bit worried.

"Really nothing’s wrong, Mom, I have something to tell you," Xu Mumu said with a smile, proceeding to share with Li Caixia the news about the reward she received, but discreetly referring to the solar generator as a small invention, avoiding any elaborate detail.

"Darling, are you telling the truth?" Li Caixia’s voice quivered with excitement; her daughter was so capable that she now owned property in Imperial City—a property granted by the state. Li Caixia was eager to announce this to the world.

"Yes, Mom, I’ve asked Yin Yang to help renovate the house. How about spending New Year in the Imperial City this year?" Xu Mumu suggested with a twinkle, not mentioning the money she wasn’t planning to hand over, lest her parents might squander it unwisely.

"Oh, good, good!" Li Caixia nodded quickly, thinking, ’My goodness, the Imperial City!’ Li Caixia was surprisingly able to go to the Imperial City for New Year; her daughter owned a house there, her excitement nearly bubbling over.

Li Caixia then questioned Xu Mumu about the house details and their lives in the Imperial City, preparing to flaunt around thoroughly.

After hanging up, Li Caixia’s face nearly split into laughter.

"Elder son’s wife, what did Mumu say?" Madam Chen, holding her little grandson, was standing quite far and couldn’t hear what Xu Mumu said, only knowing about the house in the Imperial City.
