70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 328: School Anniversary Performance
Xu Mumu and the others didn’t watch for long before the school celebration activities began.
They were arranged by Xu Minghui to a backstage position, just a small side door, quite close to the performance stage.
Over by Xu Minghui, everyone was quite interested in his family, and a few guys were even asking if his sister had a boyfriend.
"Get lost, my sister has a boyfriend, don’t even think about hitting on her." Xu Minghui disdainfully glanced at his classmates. None of them were as educated as Yin Yang, nor as good-looking. Xu Mumu was his sister, and naturally, he knew what she liked—she preferred handsome guys.
"Oh no, she already has a boyfriend." These guys were quite regretful. Such a pretty girl, of course, they liked her at first sight. They originally thought of using Xu Minghui as a connection to get closer to his sister, but now, forget it.
"My sister is so good-looking and capable; of course, it’s normal for her to have a boyfriend." Xu Minghui rolled his eyes at them, full of disdain. You guys acting like toads wanting to eat swan meat, why don’t you just ascend to the heavens?
Soon, the opening of the school celebration arrived. The performances were very interesting. Old Xu and the others had never seen such shows before and were thoroughly entertained. Comedy sketches and singing, even though they couldn’t compare to those of later generations, people at that time were passionate and sincere, making it all quite enjoyable.
Their program was scheduled a bit later, and the number of viewers didn’t decrease at all. Seeing how enthusiastically Xu Minghui and the others were singing, Xu Mumu smirked, unexpectedly finding her brother had such talent.
Their program was quite the success. As the song ended, the whole audience erupted in applause. After all, Xu Minghui and the others had better equipment, and their voices could be heard from afar, while others used the school’s equipment. Not to say outdated, but it really couldn’t compare to the set borrowed by Xu Minghui and the others.
Their program lifted the whole event’s atmosphere, and the following performances were even more passionate.
By the end, Madam Chen and the others were still longing for more, even Xu Minglei. They had never seen such performances before.
"Oh, why is it already over? I thought we could watch all afternoon." Madam Chen said regretfully.
"I thought so too, sis, was it even two hours?" Xu Minglei was equally unsatisfied.
"Two and a half hours." Xu Mumu said with a smile. Fengfeng was already out of energy; usually, he would take a nap in the afternoon. Watching the performances for this long was tiring, especially since it was noisy, and he was being held by Xu Mumu, making it hard to sleep.
"Fengfeng is sleepy, let’s head back." Xu Mumu said to Madam Chen. Mainly, she was quite tired after standing for so long. Even though strong, carrying her little brother was exhausting.
"Alright, let’s go. Let’s inform your brother first and let Fengfeng go home to sleep." Madam Chen nodded, seeing her little grandson so listless, feeling distressed and wanting to immediately take him home for a good nap.
Xu Minglei found his brother to let him know they needed to return the equipment early and head back home.
Xu Minghui readily agreed. He didn’t dare leave those expensive pieces of equipment around. If anything got damaged, none of them could afford to compensate.
The group exchanged glances and quickly decided to return them immediately, as keeping them wasn’t safe either.
Having packed their things, Xu Mumu carried Fengfeng as they headed home.
Along the way, Fengfeng didn’t fuss and fell asleep shortly.
Xu Mumu moved gently, seeing the little one asleep.
Upon reaching home, the little guy slept like a little piglet. Xu Mumu lay him on the bed without disturbing him, noting that today’s outing indeed tired him out.
Looking at his fair, chubby cheeks, Xu Mumu gave them a gentle pinch, feeling as soft as ever.
Leaving the room, Madam Chen was boiling water and animatedly recounting the afternoon’s shows to Old Xu.
Xu Mumu smiled lightly, guessing that in the evening, Madam Chen would brag about it to Xu Hai’s family, finding the thought amusing—it should be quite a scene.
While tidying up at home, Xu Minghui returned carrying a pile of messy clothes, which were rather dirty.
"Why did you bring these clothes back?" Xu Mumu asked, seeing the weary look on her brother’s face.
"These are borrowed clothes, need to be returned. Some of my classmates are heading back home tomorrow, so I brought their dirty clothes to wash for them." Xu Minghui said with a smile.
"Tsk tsk, bro, this doesn’t seem like you, helping others wash clothes? You don’t even wash the ones at home!" Xu Mumu twitched at the corners of her mouth. Is this really her brother? The world has gone a bit offbeat.
"Ha, of course, your brother isn’t doing good deeds for free, two cents per piece." Xu Minghui rolled his eyes. He wouldn’t do it without getting paid, considering how tough earning money was.
Two cents? Xu Mumu couldn’t help but glance at her brother again. Well, this is his style, always eager for deals.
"Are you really that short on money?" Xu Mumu asked with a smile. Xu Minghui had some money, having only handed over half his wages, and even frequently brought things home, so he should have quite a bit left.
"Of course, who doesn’t need more money?" Xu Minghui replied calmly.
"Well, keep working hard to earn it then." Xu Mumu patted his shoulder. They’re adults now; she wasn’t planning on helping him much longer. From the looks of it, he would figure out ways to earn money in college, so she didn’t need to intervene.
"Sis, don’t you have any good ideas?" Xu Minghui asked, eyes full of hope, looking at Xu Mumu.
"Nope, all I do at school is study and study, haven’t earned anything in a while." Xu Mumu quietly turned her face away. She wasn’t planning to tell him about her earnings from cooperating with Huo Qingze, which was quite substantial. Tutoring wasn’t suitable for Xu Minghui either; best let him find his own way, as long as it was legal, anything was fine.
"Your school should have work-study programs, why not give it a try?" Xu Minghui hesitated briefly.
"I don’t need that. Leave it for those who do; don’t worry, brother, I’m not short of money." Xu Mumu said with a smile, as she really wasn’t short on funds.
"I wish I could confidently say I’m not short of money too." Xu Minghui said, looking enviously at Xu Mumu.
