70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 123: Scholarship in Hand
When the homeroom teacher arrived, Du Yu was even more excited than Xu Mumu. This semester, he had made considerable progress, and he couldn’t wait to find out his exam results.
"Mumu, what should I do? I’m so nervous right now. How many points do you think I scored?" Du Yu whispered.
"Don’t be nervous. As long as you perform normally, your score shouldn’t be bad. I remember there was a question on the exam that was exactly one of the ones you practiced," Xu Mumu reassured Du Yu.
"What if I don’t do well? If my score is bad, my parents definitely won’t let me enjoy the summer break in peace," Du Yu said, a bit anxious.
"Why panic? You’ll know the result soon enough." Xu Mumu was speechless. Du Yu was so lacking in confidence. Was he not confident in himself or in the results of her tutoring?
Sure enough, as soon as Xu Mumu finished speaking, Liu Li began announcing the exam results: "Our class did pretty well this time; everyone has made some progress..."
Liu Li continued for a while before finally getting to the grades. The first name called was once again Xu Mumu, and her almost perfect score made her the center of attention for the whole class.
Xu Mumu received her test paper and looked at the places where she lost points. She had a rough idea about those areas. Most of the points were deducted from the essay, and in math, she lost some points because she copied a number wrong when substituting into a formula. The other subjects almost had no points deducted.
The score was indeed very impressive, and Xu Mumu was very satisfied.
"Wow, Mumu, you’re amazing, first place again," Xue Yan said, looking at Xu Mumu with envy. Ever since the mid-term exam, Xu Mumu hadn’t dropped from the first place in various quizzes.
"It’s okay." Xu Mumu smiled and said that she was a bit careless this time; she would need to check more carefully next time to avoid losing points.
After a few more names, Du Yu’s name was called. These test papers were distributed in order of ranking. The way Du Yu held his paper, his face was filled with a blossoming smile.
This time, Du Yu had made it into the top ten. Xu Mumu was satisfied with the result, and she wouldn’t need to tutor Du Yu next semester either; he had learned almost everything he needed to know.
His foundation was pretty solid, and he wouldn’t face much pressure once he reached his senior year.
As for Xue Yan’s test paper, it was almost the last few to be called. Once she got her paper, she just kept it away, and Xu Mumu wasn’t planning to look. She didn’t need to think to know it wasn’t good.
After all the papers were distributed, Liu Li began handing out the awards. Along with the certificates came the prizes, as well as the scholarship that Xu Mumu had been looking forward to for so long.
The first name called was once again Xu Mumu.
Xu Mumu went up, holding that bright certificate, a couple of notebooks, and a cash reward of ten yuan.
With the prize money in hand, Xu Mumu was in a very happy mood.
The two notebooks could be used to write a lot of things and could also be taken home for a few kids to use.
Before Old Liu left, he also left them their summer homework. Frankly, there wasn’t much; it could be done in two or three days.
This was a huge difference compared to the amount of homework she used to have.
"Mumu, look, I got a certificate too; my mom will definitely be very happy," Du Yu said excitedly, waving his certificate in front of Xu Mumu.
"Keep it up, and continue to do well next semester." Xu Mumu patted Du Yu on the shoulder.
"Oh, yay! My allowance can increase. Mumu, I’ll come to your place to hang out in a few days," Du Yu said, beaming with a smile.
"Sure, you’re always welcome," Xu Mumu replied with a smile.
Walking out with Du Yu, Zhao Qing was already waiting there. He was there to collect his graduation certificate today.
"Mumu, how did you do on the exam?" Zhao Qing asked softly.
"Not bad. Congratulations on graduating, Qing," Xu Mumu smiled and said.
"Graduating is great, no more school. Studying every day is so annoying," Du Yu said enviously.
Although he didn’t know where his dad heard that college entrance exams might be reintroduced, he was forced to study all the time. This semester was definitely his most diligent time ever; his mind was filled with various questions that Xu Mumu gave him every day.
"Life after graduation isn’t that easy," Zhao Qing chuckled helplessly. After graduation, he would have to look for a job. His parents supported him until high school graduation, not to have him go back to the countryside to farm.
Luckily, his brother worked in town. He would be the first to know about any job openings there.
The three of them went home, each with their thoughts. After parting ways with Du Yu, Xu Mumu and Zhao Qing continued to the village.
It wasn’t long before they ran into Yin Yang on the way.
"Mr. Xu, Mr. Zhao." Yin Yang smiled and greeted them. These two went to and from school together every day; didn’t they say they didn’t like each other?
"Yin Zhiqing, are you heading to town?" Xu Mumu smiled softly. She had been seeing Yin Yang a lot lately; he frequently went to town lately, was he preparing to return to the city by pulling some strings?
"Yes, why are you guys back so early? Not staying in town to have some fun?" Yin Yang replied, hinting at something.
"We came to collect the certificate today, and we headed back as soon as we got it. No point staying in town," Xu Mumu said calmly.
"Did you score well, Mr. Xu?" Yin Yang asked Xu Mumu curiously. This semester, Li Caixia was boasting everywhere about how good her daughter’s grades were. Even though he mostly stayed in the intellectual compound, he heard a lot of rumors about Xu Mumu.
"Not bad, what are you doing in town, Yin Zhiqing?" Xu Mumu raised an eyebrow.
"My uncle sent me something; I need to go pick it up. Mr. Xu, if you need anything, feel free to come to me. My uncle has some connections, and he can usually get what you want," Yin Yang said with a slight smile.
"Don’t worry, I won’t be shy," Xu Mumu said with a smile. Sure enough, this guy had some connections. She had helped Yin Yang out quite a bit before; he certainly wouldn’t stay in this place for long. She should use up this favor before he leaves.
She would have to think carefully once she got home. Yin Yang outright told her he could get good stuff; it would be foolish not to make good use of it.
After parting with Yin Yang, Xu Mumu kept thinking about what good stuff she should get from him.
Zhao Qing noticed that Xu Mumu seemed a bit absent-minded, and pursed his lips slightly. Could it be that Xu Mumu liked Yin Yang too? The familiarity between the two just now made him somewhat uncomfortable. Had Xu Mumu rejected him because of Yin Yang?
Zhao Qing’s change in mood went unnoticed by Xu Mumu, who was still preoccupied with her thoughts after parting with Zhao Qing.
