365 Days of Rejected Proposal: CEO's Rebellious Pet-Chapter 137: I Regret It
The tall and imposing man had a frightening aura. Flanked by a group of black-suited bodyguards clearing the way, he swiftly passed by the glass wall of the departure lounge, heading toward another terminal.
Zinnia’s face grew paler. She instinctively adjusted her hat, pulled up her scarf, and hastily lowered her head.
At that moment, the broadcast announced the boarding reminder.
Zinnia quickly stood up, grabbed her suitcase, and briskly headed toward the gate without looking back.
"President, all flights to H Country board from this Terminal 3. Your wife’s flight isn’t for another two hours. We’ve had our men block all entrances and exits, but we haven’t found her yet."
Jenson Forrest strode into Terminal 3, where a bodyguard who had already done a rough search came to report. Jenson’s expression was grim as he walked into the crowd himself and ordered, "Keep searching!"
The man waved his hand, gesturing for the bodyguards to spread out and search, while his own sharp, eagle-like gaze scanned the area.
Since the flight doesn’t depart for nearly two hours, Zinnia must still be here.
But after searching for a while, the bodyguards still hadn’t found any sign of Zinnia.
A hint of agitation clouded Jenson’s eyes, and his brows furrowed slightly.
"President, could it be that Mrs. Forrest hasn’t arrived yet?"
International flights boarded early, and the process began soon after, but there was no sign of Zinnia in the queue.
Jenson looked at the bodyguard who had spoken and asked in a low voice, "Have you checked the restrooms?"
"We had someone go in and check. We didn’t see her."
Jenson frowned. As his irritation grew, he caught sight of a familiar tall figure in his periphery. The man was speaking to a woman as they walked toward the boarding gate.
A vicious glint flashed in Jenson’s eyes. He strode over, came up behind the man, grabbed his shoulder, and wrenched it back.
The man turned, revealing a refined, gentlemanly face. It was Alaric Hawthorne.
A dark fury swirled in Jenson’s eyes as he immediately launched a punch.
"Trying to take my woman! Alaric Hawthorne, you’re courting death!"
Alaric took the punch to his cheekbone. His gold-rimmed glasses flew off, the lenses cracking on impact.
Jenson had already yanked the woman who was in front of Alaric behind him, radiating murderous rage and undisguised possessiveness.
A bruise was already forming on Alaric’s face. He staggered but steadied himself, then straightened up and sneered, "What are you talking about, Young Master Forrest? Perhaps you should turn around and see if that’s actually your wife."
Meeting Alaric’s mocking gaze, a terrible premonition surged in Jenson’s heart.
He spun around abruptly, yanking the hat and scarf off the woman whose head was lowered.
An utterly unfamiliar, panic-stricken face was revealed.
This isn’t Zinnia at all!
Jenson abruptly released the woman, who scurried aside as if she had been granted a pardon.
Jenson turned and grabbed Alaric by the collar.
"Where is she?"
In contrast to Jenson’s barely contained fury, Alaric’s demeanor remained elegant. "You said it yourself, President Forrest. Zinnia is your woman. If you don’t even know where she is, how would I?"
Jenson’s icy eyes simmered with viciousness.
"Stop playing dumb. Do you think you can get what you want just by hiding her? When I, Jenson Forrest, want to find someone, there’s no use hiding, even at the ends of the earth!"
Alaric nodded. "Indeed, Young Master Forrest, your reach is vast, so finding someone is certainly no great task for you. But have you ever considered why Zinnia is doing this? It’s because she’s already determined to leave! She doesn’t want to see you anymore! She doesn’t want to be entangled with you any longer. Since you’ve already agreed to a divorce, why make such a scene and pressure her? You should respect Zinnia’s decision."
Jenson knew Alaric would not disclose Zinnia’s whereabouts.
His grip on Alaric’s collar gradually loosened.
"You’re stalling for her. It appears she really is at the airport."
Alaric’s expression remained unchanged as he replied indifferently, "No comment."
But Jenson was exceptionally astute and intelligent; he already had his answer.
If Zinnia weren’t here, but was hiding somewhere else in Veridia, there would be no need for Alaric to use a woman as a smokescreen at the airport. The only possibility is that she is here. She really is leaving today, just on a different flight. And that flight has most likely already taken off or is about to. That’s why Alaric had to stall.
Jenson shoved Alaric aside and led his men out of Terminal 3.
Alaric frowned as he stared at the man’s hastily departing back. He glanced at his watch and let out a sigh.
Zinnia was already on the plane to Port Caligo. Thinking of the man’s cold, imposing figure from earlier, she bit her lip, her heart filled with unease.
She had felt uneasy ever since she overheard Jenson Forrest and the Old Madam at the Forrest family’s old estate saying they would never let her marry another man. Afraid she would be stopped today, she had secretly bought another ticket to Port Caligo.
She planned to hide in Port Caligo for a while.
Zinnia understood Jenson’s personality. He was an incredibly proud man. Seeing her so determined, especially after she’d ignored him for a month, should be enough to cool down any possessiveness he felt for her. By the time she returned to finalize the divorce and get the certificate, everything should go smoothly.
It was just a backup plan, but she hadn’t expected Jenson to actually chase her to the airport with his men.
She kept checking her watch, wishing time would pass faster so the plane could take off. If Jenson didn’t find her in the departure lounge, he would definitely turn Veridia upside down searching for her. By the time he failed to find her there, she would already be safely hidden in Port Caligo.
It seemed Zinnia’s hopes had worked. The cabin door closed smoothly, and the plane was about to take off.
Zinnia completely relaxed. Her tense back felt as if it had been drained of all strength, and she slumped into her seat, slowly removing her hat and scarf.
She was sweating profusely. She let out a breath and gently stroked her lower abdomen, murmuring in her heart.
Coco, Mommy is sorry. Mommy is just so, so tired. I can’t hold on anymore. I can’t let you and Daddy meet, but I promise, Mommy will love you and dote on you twice as much...
A wave of nausea washed over her again, and she wondered if the baby was blaming her.
Zinnia’s nose tingled and her almond-shaped eyes grew moist, her features clouded with sorrow and profound guilt.
"What are you thinking?"
Suddenly, a question rang out from above her head. The voice was deep and hoarse, seeming to suppress immense power, and it was unbelievably familiar.
Zinnia thought she was hallucinating. She blinked slowly and stiffly raised her head.
Her gaze lifted to find the man standing beside her seat, looking down at her. His gaze was deep and dark, like a churning ocean. His handsome face was cold as frost, and his thin lips were curved in a mocking smile.
Zinnia instantly felt like a rabbit cornered by a hawk, and the hair on her body stood on end.
"You... you... the cabin door is closed! How..." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
She hadn’t finished speaking when a shadow loomed over her.
"I regret it. You’re not going anywhere!"
Jenson coldly interrupted her, then bent down and unbuckled her seatbelt.
Zinnia didn’t even have time to react before the man swept an arm under her knees and lifted her into his arms, in full view of everyone.
