30 Days of Passion and Revenge-Chapter 64: Conflicted Hearts
"You can tell your uncle that I am your boyfriend," Ethan said with seriousness.
Yes, it was a solution. When did Ethan come to the point of sneaking around? Ethan was indeed her man; what was the big deal about telling her uncle? There was nothing hard to explain. He didn’t understand what was happening in this woman’s mind.
If Lily’s uncle were smart enough, he would have noticed that without someone’s backing, their magazine "EYL" would have been sued many times just by publishing scandals about big stars every day. How could they have grown so peacefully and increasingly?
"Boyfriend?" Lily suddenly laughed out loud as if she had heard a funny joke. Do you think my uncle would believe that the young master of the Blackwood family has taken a liking to me? Is he willing to marry me as his wife?"
"Lily, are you implying that I should marry you?"
Marrying her would make their relationship public. That would be a high price to pay.
Lily helplessly licked her slightly swollen lips. Why could Ethan always hear the implied meaning in her words, but when she hinted at letting the Carter Group go a few times, he acted as if he hadn’t heard?
Looking deeply, Lily said thoughtfully, "I’m not implying anything. I promised my uncle I would not mess around with boyfriends. Any relationship must be based on the premise of marriage."
Her father was sentenced to fifteen years in prison.
When she turned 18, her uncle talked about dating and marriage. Her uncle took on her father’s role and was responsible for her life.
Her uncle said that any boyfriend she dated must be shown to him first. Only after he approved could they continue dating, and it must be based on the premise of marriage.
Girls must know how to protect themselves.
This was the most common phrase her uncle told her.
She agreed then, but later, she sold herself for money. She was... a person who couldn’t keep any promises.
"Based on the premise of marriage?" This time, it was Ethan’s turn to laugh. His magnetic voice was somewhat sarcastic, "Is it that there can be no sexual relations before marriage?"
Was her uncle living in a feudal society?
When did modern relationships become so pure?
"Yes." Hearing his mocking voice, Lily responded with particular seriousness.
Upon hearing this, Ethan’s heart was struck. Her voice was substantial.
So, did she also hold such conservative views on relationships?
Ethan was fortunate, then, that he had done one right thing the moment he met her nine years later, which was to possess her.
Otherwise, how could this proud little peacock now be his?
Otherwise, how could he know that he would slowly start to care for this peacock?
From that year to now, she has always had a unique existence.
A woman who insulted him looked down on him yet made him pay special attention.
Lily looked at the empty corridor, and her thoughts couldn’t help but drift back to the first time she met Ethan.
If it weren’t for that day when she had the great misfortune to meet him, she wouldn’t have been raped by him and lost her first purity.
Perhaps she would have cherished herself a little more.
Even if she missed out with Alex Carter, she would have slowly met a good man, married and had children with a clean slate, and after her father was released from prison, they would have lived a plain life together.
Instead of living in fear every day like she does now.
She was like a sinner with many terrible secrets, afraid of many things being exposed.
She was afraid that her uncle would find out that she didn’t know how to love herself and become someone else’s mistress.
Afraid Alex would find out she was no longer the clean little princess from before.
She was afraid that Ethan would find out that she knew Alex and strike the Carter Group even harder.
There were many things she feared.
It was like surviving on a knife’s edge; she would be doomed if she weren’t careful.
"Mr. Blackwood, Miss Anderson, you’re back."
Ethan pushed her back to the ward. Nanny, hanging clothes in front of the wardrobe, immediately came out smiling, "The air outside is good, right? It’s just that the ’medicine’ water in the hospital is a bit strong."
"Well, the air is good."
Lily replied softly. She was about to stand up from the wheelchair when she suddenly realized that this was not her original ward.
To be precise, the ward was still the original one, but the furnishings inside were completely different.
The furnishings in the ward were already considered very high-end, and now... it was as if it were a bedroom in the Blackwood villa.
It was very luxurious.
"Did you change all the furniture?!" Lily looked up in amazement and asked.
"Mm-hmm." Ethan nodded affirmatively.
Lily felt a bit frustrated. Was he preparing to let her stay here for a long time? She didn’t plan to stay in the hospital for long; she just wanted to delay Ethan temporarily.
If she had to smell the disinfectant in the hospital for a long time, she would get sick even if she wasn’t.
"Mr. Blackwood is very good to Miss Anderson. To make Miss Anderson more comfortable in the hospital, he had this set of furniture specially shipped here from abroad," Nanny said with a smile, helping her up from the wheelchair.
"Nanny... My legs are fine." Lily looked at Nanny’s actions of helping her as if she had some severe illness and couldn’t help but say with a wry smile.
"It’s good to be careful. Come on, sit on the bed, and rest."
Nanny helped her to sit on the edge of the bed before continuing to hang clothes. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"How long do I have to stay here?" Lily looked at Ethan in confusion.
"Stay until I tell you to leave," Ethan said domineeringly, walking straight to the kitchen in the ward suite...
Lily was speechless.
Since she met Ethan, her body had never been peaceful, being hit by a car, catching a cold, and now being hospitalized.
"Mr. Blackwood didn’t go to the company for Miss Anderson today." Nanny hung Lily’s daily change of clothes into the wardrobe and said with a smile.
"Didn’t you say he went early in the morning?" Lily was taken aback. She thought Ethan had just come to the hospital to see her after work.
"I was wrong. I just heard from the driver that Mr. Blackwood went to buy a wheelchair early in the morning." Nanny pointed to the wheelchair mysteriously, "It is said that the wheelchair has many functions, including a massage function."
So Ethan didn’t go to the company today?
Her illness is still effective in delaying him. As long as he doesn’t have the energy to think about attacking the Carter Group, the Carter Group can slow down...
The "tax evasion" incident will pass sooner or later.
Ethan’s tall and upright figure came out of the kitchen, holding a cup of apple juice, handing it to her, and ordered domineeringly, "Lily. Drink it all."
"My stomach is not good; I can’t drink cold." Lily glanced at the freshly squeezed apple juice and said lightly.
Nanny made it seem like he cared so much about her. He also said she shouldn’t eat irritating foods, so why did he turn around and make a cup of apple juice for her? Although... she wanted to drink it.
"Stop complaining, drink it!" Mr. Blackwood impatiently stuffed the glass into her hand, "Drink it all, don’t leave a drop."
