Chapter 103: The Final Straw

"Ethan..." Lily grimaced in pain as his grip tightened around her wrist. "Let go."

"No!"

"You’re hurting me." Lily tried to free her hand, but no matter how hard she struggled, she couldn’t escape his iron grip.

Ethan’s cold eyes glared at her, refusing to relent.

She dares to ask me to let go?!

Rain poured down on both of them, drenching them.

"Mr. Blackwood?" A sultry voice cut through the tension. Dressed in an evening gown, Beth Samson stepped out of a sleek sports car, holding an umbrella. She walked over to Ethan and shielded him from the rain. "Mr. Blackwood, what are you doing here? Let me take you home."

Lily stood silently, letting the rain soak her, watching Beth casually looping her arm through Ethan’s.

She had seen a similar scene before, with Alice and Alex.

The rain blurred her vision, making it hard to see clearly...

Ethan still held Lily’s hand tightly, his gaze cold and unyielding.

Beth shot Lily dismissively, her hand brushing flirtatiously over Ethan’s arm. "Mr. Blackwood, the rain is really coming down hard. Let me drive you home."

Lily remained silent.

Ethan glared at her for a long time before finally reacting. He turned sharply toward Beth and shouted, "Get lost!"

Beth jumped, startled by his outburst. Without another word, she turned and left, abandoning the umbrella by the roadside, where the rain pounded against it with a heavy thud.

"Lily!" Ethan tightened his grip on her hand, growling, "Don’t forget, you sold yourself to me! How dare you go out here to seduce other men? Tell me! Where did he touch you?!"

That man with the glasses!

I should’ve dealt with him earlier!

He dared to try and seduce my woman. I ought to cut his hands off!

A drive?

He can go to hell!

Rain poured down on them, drenching their hair and clothes.

Lily turned her gaze toward Beth, who was getting back into her car. Ethan’s furious roars echoed in her ears, his icy glare as sharp as a blade.

The sound of the rain filled her ears, drowning everything else.

After a long pause, Lily finally heard her voice, "Ethan, let’s end this relationship."

Her voice was steady, neither loud nor soft, but filled with gravity.

The rain quickly washed the words away, making them appear like they never existed.

A flash of confusion passed through Ethan’s eyes. He stared at her rain-soaked face as though he couldn’t quite process what she had said.

End it?

She said, "End it."?

Does she mean what I think she means?

Ethan’s eyes grew colder, and he shouted, his voice hoarse and full of rage, "Lily, say that again if you dare!"

Since she had already said it, she hoped this would be resolved quickly and smoothly.

But she couldn’t meet his eyes. His gaze was filled with a terrifying, all-consuming dominance.

Lily lowered her head, staring at the ground. She forced her voice to remain calm, without emotion. "Ethan, let’s end things."

"Lily!"

"I don’t think I meet your expectations as a mistress. There’s no need to waste your time on me anymore." Lily paused before continuing, "You’re the CEO of Blackwood Enterprise. You have women of all kinds around you. I’m really not suitable for you."

Was that phrasing gentle enough?

Ethan still hadn’t let go of her hand. His grip tightened as if he wanted to crush her hand completely.

Waste his time?

Need to be more suitable?

She wanted to leave him? Just like that? So quickly? And before he had even grown tired of her?!

Fine.

Lily had once again succeeded in igniting his fury.

"Heh..." After a long silence, Ethan stared at her with a cold smile. His lips curled into a sneer as he spat, "Lily, you don’t want to stay by my side anymore?"

His mocking tone made her feel incredibly uncomfortable.

This was something she would have to face eventually... She couldn’t let herself be afraid.

Lily bit her lip, summoning all her courage to meet his gaze. Her voice was barely a whisper. "Yes."

She dared to answer him?

His rage erupted, fully ignited.

The next second, Ethan yanked her hand, dragging her forward. Lily tried to resist but was shoved roughly against a car.

The impact made her curl up in pain.

Ethan’s face was expressionless as he opened the car door and shoved her inside. He followed her in, his soaked clothes dripping onto the car seats.

"What are you doing, Ethan?" Lily gasped, her body aching from being forcibly pushed into the car.

"What am I doing?" Ethan scoffed, his face dark and stormy. He grabbed her by the collar, pulling her close so their faces were inches apart. Gritting his teeth, he growled, "Lily, I’m telling you right now! Our relationship was never something you could decide to start, and it’s definitely not something you can decide to end!"

With that, Ethan forcefully crashed his lips against hers, biting her cold lips with anger, prying her mouth open as his hot tongue invaded, kissing her fiercely and possessively.

It was a kiss filled with rage and dominance.

"Mm... Ugh..."

Ethan had always been an exceptional kisser.

But this time, there was no technique—just raw force. His teeth clashed against hers, causing her pain. She wanted to cry out, but he was covering her mouth.

Her clothes were roughly yanked off.

Ethan pressed her down, his face moving from her lips to her neck, biting down hard.

"Ah!" Lily cried out in pain, hitting his shoulders repeatedly. "Ethan, get off me! Why can’t you ever just talk things through?! Get off! Ah..."

His bite on her neck was so forceful that tears sprang to her eyes.

Why did he always have to make decisions by force?

Why couldn’t he ever listen to her? All he knew was how to exert control... 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

She was a person, not a doll.

In response, Ethan bit down even harder, only releasing her when her painful cries filled the car. He licked the spot he had bitten, his actions animalistic and primal.

"Let me go! Ethan!" Lily hit him again, her fists landing on his back with increasing force, each strike filled with frustration.

"No!" Ethan roared, raising his body slightly to glare down at her. He grabbed her flailing hands and pinned them above her head.

"Let me go, Ethan!" Lily struggled desperately.

Suddenly, Ethan’s movements halted. His grip loosened, and one hand moved to his chest. His face turned pale, and a deep groan of pain escaped his lips. "Ugh..."

Lily froze for a moment before quickly realizing what was happening. "What’s wrong, Ethan?"

He had no sense of self-preservation.

It had only been a week since he broke three ribs, and yet he was out here, fighting and trying to force himself on her...

Didn’t he understand that his body wasn’t invincible?!

Ethan’s breathing grew heavier, his face drained of color. He clutched his chest tightly, his jaw clenched as he fought to suppress the pain.

"Where are your painkillers?" Lily asked frantically, her hands trembling as she searched the car. "Ethan, where are your painkillers?"

Ethan had gotten himself into this state because of her. She couldn’t just stand there and do nothing...

"I didn’t bring any."

Ethan gritted his teeth, his voice full of irritation.

How could I be thinking about painkillers when I heard she was at a mixer?

Damn it.

This woman... she wants to end things with me?

I rushed back from Germany to celebrate our anniversary, and what did she do? She went to a mixer and talked about ending our relationship!

She can’t end it.

She’s mine for life, whether she likes it or not!

Ethan clutched his chest, glaring coldly at Lily. He didn’t even have the strength to pin her down and make his point.

For the first time, he was furious at his own weakness.

Lily wasn’t concerned with what he was thinking. She buckled his seatbelt and started the car, her face filled with worry as she focused on the road ahead. "Hang in there. I’m taking you to the hospital."

Ethan sat in the passenger seat, his gaze on her delicate profile.

Soft yet filled with concern, her voice seemed to soothe the pain in his chest.

His eyes narrowed as he noticed her rain-soaked clothes. Gritting his teeth, he growled, "You didn’t buckle your seatbelt!"

How stupid can she be?!

Lily blinked, quickly fastening her seatbelt before speeding down the road.

His anger began to subside at her simple, flustered action.

Even his chest didn’t hurt as much anymore...

Ethan continued to stare at her, noticing how tense she was. She was driving faster and faster, ignoring the police sirens behind her.

This woman... She looked so small and fragile, yet there was a fierce determination in her.

Was she worried about him? Is that why she was driving so recklessly?

Lily sped toward the nearest hospital, parking the car quickly. She ignored the pouring rain as she helped Ethan out, slinging his arm over her shoulder as she struggled to get him through the hospital doors.

The moment they entered the hospital, a nurse rushed over with a stretcher.

With the nurse’s help, Lily got Ethan onto the stretcher.

The doctor appeared soon after, and Lily hurried over, her voice filled with urgency. "He broke three ribs about a week ago. I’m worried the injury has worsened."

Broken bones could be a serious matter, after all...

"Got it. You go take care of the paperwork," the doctor said, slipping on a mask as he wheeled Ethan into the emergency room.

Just as the doors were about to close, Ethan lifted his head slightly, his dark eyes searching for Lily.

She stood outside the emergency room, watching anxiously, her hands covering her mouth as if to suppress her fear. Her hair and clothes were soaked, and she looked utterly drenched and miserable...

Damn woman... She clearly cares about me.

But she’s still playing hard to get, talking about ending things... If she really wanted to end it, why would she be so worried about me?!

The light above the emergency room turned on.

Lily tried to calm herself, paying the hospital fees before returning to stand outside the emergency room and waiting nervously.

This time, the wait was much shorter. The light went off, and Ethan was wheeled out.

Lily rushed over, not even sparing him a glance as she hurriedly asked the doctor, "How is he? Has the injury gotten worse?"

"Thankfully, his condition hasn’t worsened. I’ve given him a painkiller injection. He needs to rest for 100 days—no more running around or strenuous activities," the doctor said, removing his mask. "Do you have the payment receipt?"

"Here," Lily said, handing it over.

The doctor glanced at the receipt and casually said, "Mrs. Blackwood, follow me to pick up the medication."

Lily froze for a moment, her gaze involuntarily shifting toward Ethan. Their eyes met, and she stared into his deep, unreadable eyes.

Her heart skipped a beat.

"...All right."

Feeling a bit flustered, Lily quickly looked away and nodded.

After picking up the medication and arranging for Ethan’s admission, Lily spent hours getting everything settled before finally returning to the hospital room.

Though she had managed to get Ethan into a private room, the hospital was still just average, and the room was far from luxurious.
