10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System-Chapter 256: Ultimatum
Aegon considered himself to be a calm man who preferred non-violence. He didn’t even hate people as that would just ruin his mood and life. But even he had some limits.
He simply couldn’t understand what the Songsword Family expected after coming here and declaring him as their grandson all of a sudden.
Didn’t they realise this in the past sixteen years? And what made them think he would accept them happily?
Aegon could see from the shock displayed on their faces that they truly didn’t expect this blatant rejection. It also seemed to have hurt their pride as even Marvin’s hand was shaking.
He stared back at Aegon and said, "I shouldn’t expect much from someone who was raised as a wild animal. You have no manners and no regard towards your elders. I’m disappointed in Arnold as a grandfather."
"Are you done?" Aegon’s voice turned icy cold. "If you are then please leave. It is a joyous moment for me and I don’t want to ruin it by arguing with idiots who think the world should always lick their feet."
"Insolent!" Marvin snorted. "But fear not. I’ll drill manners into you. If you don’t want to accept me as your grandfather, then I’ll make you. I’ve come prepared."
"Oh? I would like to see your preparations."
Just as Marvin was about to say more, a deathly wind blew across the area, making everyone shiver. A voice devoid of any emotions resounded, as dozens of red lilies bloomed on the mansion’s walls and even the metal gates.
All gazes turned towards the woman hovering above them. Her snow-white hair fluttered in the wind, and her indifferent crimson eyes judged them as if she were a goddess of death herself.
Marvin looked up at her and frowned, "I didn’t know you were coming too."
"Does it matter?" Liliana asked, as she slowly lowered herself. "Why don’t you show me your preparations, Father?"
"I’ve been waiting, Lily," Marvin said, his voice softening. "Why didn’t you come back? Do you know how much it hurts me to see you leave?"
Liliana kept her silence.
"Stop wasting your words on her, dear," Isabella scoffed in disdain. "Ever since the day she stepped into that family, her whole behaviour changed. She’s not the daughter we raised."
"Enough! She’s still my daughter," Marvin said. "Lily, you just need to apologise for your wrongdoings and we’ll welcome you back. You know how I always had a soft spot for you."
"I feel pity," Liliana muttered. "Pity for my past self. How naïve she was to get emotionally manipulated by every single one of you."
As Marvin opened his mouth to say something, Liliana raised her hand. "And you have some delusions to think I want to come back. I left that family willingly. Do you remember the reason?"
Marvin furrowed his brows and said, "You disrespected our whole family and even destroyed the ancestral heirloom. Did you forget it so soon?"
Liliana stared at him a bit longer, then she said, "It was because you meddled in Rowan’s business. Because of you, he didn’t get his promotion and instead got humiliated."
"I only did what was good for him!"
The temperature dropped further as many more red lilies formed around the perimeter of the mansion. Under the beautiful wave of Starflies, they looked stunning.
"You have no right to force your ideology on my son," Liliana’s voice turned colder.
"He’s my grandson too," Marvin retorted. "My blood runs in him, giving me every right to desire a good future for him."
"It’s a sad reality that your blood runs in us," Liliana scoffed. "And I’ve said it already. You’re in no position to decide it. I forgave you last time because, for better or worse, you raised me."
Her eyes narrowed as she said, "You’re trying to do it again. But I won’t be merciful this time. Take a step forward to take advantage of my son and you will see the monster you have created."
Aegon shuddered hearing her voice and words. He had gotten used to her being gentle and warm towards him, so he didn’t think she would have a side like this.
’Still, it seems like they emotionally drained her. Valid crash out,’ Aegon thought, turning towards Xiu.
She was standing still in mid-air, speaking no words. But that was a red flag. Xiu was the type of person who always talked a lot even while fighting.
But the moment she stopped talking, it meant she was truly angry. She didn’t see the enemies as worthy enough to hear her words. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Something clicked in Aegon’s mind as he remembered something. ’Senior is like a dear sister to her, so Xiu’s hatred towards them is because of their treatment of her.’
Funnily enough, he didn’t stop her this time. She needed to let out that hatred and he also didn’t like the Songsword Family. They deserved everything coming at them.
He also felt assured now that Liliana was with them.
"Looks like you’ve already chosen your path," Marvin said. "A disappointing one. But I’m not here just for my grandson. I’m also here to deal with that wild animal."
"Careful with your words!" Liliana said. "And if you mean her attacking your House, then I gave her that idea and also permission."
"What?" Marvin was surprised.
"I told you. Never touch my children or even think of doing anything to them," Liliana scoffed. "So if you have any complaints, I’m listening. I’m warning you though, it’s useless."
"Why are you arguing with her, Father?" Selena spoke from his side, as she took out a staff with a butterfly-like gem embedded on top. "She has disgraced us enough already."
Marvin stared at Liliana for a bit longer before sighing in disappointment. "It pains me to say this but you’re expelled from the Songsword Family. You have gone too far this time by attacking us."
He waved his hand as all seven of them took out their weapons.
"We’re not a barbaric family and prefer to solve things with words. But don’t mistake it as us being weak. If it takes violence to protect my family, then we won’t back away."
"Is that so?" Liliana muttered. "Then, I’ll be happy to face you."
With that, she spread her arms wide and snapped her fingers. In the next second, a terrible earthquake assaulted the region as wild winds picked up rapidly, forming tornadoes.
Space behind Liliana began to ripple apart as a tear formed, revealing vast darkness lurking within it. But things didn’t stop there. The tear continued to thrash violently, devouring more space as it grew even bigger.
In a matter of seconds, the small tear turned into a towering gap in space, standing vertically at more than two hundred metres in height, dwarfing everything in the vicinity.
Right before everyone’s shocked gazes, a giant humanoid leg stepped outside the spatial tear, shaking the land as if a mountain had moved. After the leg, more of it stepped outside.
Before long, a towering monstrosity stood before them. More than a hundred metres in height, the titan was made entirely of black obsidian and shaped like a human figure, except for the large horn-like antenna that protruded out of its head.
That alone was more than ten metres in length.
The titan cast its eerie gaze downwards at them through its dark eye sockets which burned with red infernal flames. Its presence alone created a suffocating atmosphere, as it just stood there in silence waiting for its mistress’s order.
Liliana rose higher in the sky, her figure like an ant before the mighty titan, as her voice sounded from everywhere.
"Meet one of my finest creations. Obsidian Goliath, the titan meant to bring doom to the demons. But today, it will create your graves and deliver you to your doom."
Her crimson eyes locked onto her former family as she said,
"You once said death was sacred. Then, I’m just performing the ritual today."
In the next moment, the clouds above the whole Dusk City began to churn and gather above the mansion, taking on a dark hue. Thunderclaps filled them, as if they were an omen of doom.
Xiu rose high in the air as well, her whole body coated in deep purple lightning. Her lips split into a wide grin as she said, "Don’t think my sister is alone in this. You are facing this Xiu today."
"You two have grown strong... stronger than I imagined," Marvin replied in a calm voice despite the situation seemingly against him. "But I’m Marvin Songsword, the man who brought the Songsword Family their current glory. You think this can intimidate me?"
He snapped his fingers.
On his cue, hundreds of figures clad in armour and packed with artefacts came out of their hidden places and surrounded the whole mansion.
Marvin smirked, "I told you. I’ll do anything to protect my family."
"What a surprise!"
Aegon finally spoke seeing the situation escalating. Smiling, he said, "I’m the same."
In the next moment, the world took on a darker shade and shadows as deep as the abyss rose to reap the lives of his enemies.
