10x Cashback: Your Wealth Is Mine-Chapter 93 Empty Throne
93 Empty Throne
If one could enter the grand conference room at Apex Investments, they'd call it cold even though that had nothing to do with the atmosphere.
The room was well ventilated with a great view of the Manhattan skyline and had been described as elegant at the same time.
The table in the middle of the room was the same place where some of the most important decisions for the company were made and now, they were waiting for the mover and shaker of this little kingdom.
On one side of the table sat the oldest princess, Jenny Voss. This time, she was dressed professionally in a navy pantsuit and while she still had her purple hair, it was in a tight bun on her head.
She couldn't help the smirk that was on her face. It had taken her a lot to get an important position in the company but it had come by being honest.
She'd sat down with her mother and explained her ambition. Her drive to become what she was meant to be. A queen.
She'd shed the thing that had been holding her back, her acting out, and had assured her mother that while she couldn't change who she was, she was ready to learn and grow.
Her mother had been surprisingly receptive and had given her a chance to prove herself.
Which has led to today. A sudden and official summons by their mother.
On the opposite side of the table sat her sister and rival, Jasmine. Wearing a red suit, she radiated confidence but Jenny knew her sister well enough to see that she was on edge.
She leaned back in her chair as she scrolled through her phone, looking uninterested in what their mother had to say but she definitely wasn't fooling Jenny.
The door opened and the queen entered.
Clarisse Newton, their mother.
The matriarch of Apex Investments, the woman whose very name commanded respect in financial circles, walked in with the regal grace of someone who had built an empire and knew it.
Her silver hair was styled impeccably and she wore a beautiful black dress that made her beauty stand out. One could tell who her two daughters got their beauty from.
Jenny rolled her eyes at her words, knowing this was meant for her but smiled all the same. Her mother was getting used to her presence in the family business.
Jasmine and her stood up, greeting their mother formally. She waved them back to their seats before taking the head chair at the table. She leaned back in her chair and glanced between her daughters.
"I won't waste your time with pleasantries." She began in the same tone she always used whenever she wanted to signal that she won't tolerate any interruptions.
"I have spent decades of my life building Apex Investments to what it is today and now, I need some rest. I have decided it is time to step down as Chairman."
Jenny suppressed the grin that threatened to spread on her face, keeping her expression neutral. She'd suspected this was coming but hearing it confirmed just gave her a thrill of both excitement and anxiety running through her.
She glanced at Jasmine, who couldn't maintain her nonchalance again. She sat up straight, blinking in shock.
"This company is my legacy." Their mother continued her speech. "Apex has outperformed its peers and weathered every storm under my leadership. I will not hand over the reins lightly."
"The next Chairman must demonstrate not only the ability to preserve Apex's reputation but to elevate it further."
Jenny sat straighter. Was this it? Was the next Chairman about to be announced?
"I have decided that the two of you will compete for the position." Clarrise said and shock swept through the room.
"What?" Jasmine said incredulously like she couldn't believe what she was hearing.
Clarisse ignored the outburst. "Over the next few months, you will each have the opportunity to prove to me and the board who is best suited to lead Apex."
"Your task is simple. Secure the best future for this company by any means necessary. The sister who can demonstrate the most tangible results will become the next Chairman."
Jenny couldn't suppress the excitement roaring through her veins. An equal chance to see who would lead the company?

She glanced at her sister, who had finally wiped the shock on her face away and replaced it with calm. She probably thought she had this in the bag already.
"Whatever vision you have for this company is left to you." Their mother filled the silence. "Show me how you will shape Apex's future in a way that secures its dominance for decades to come."
Jenny allowed the grin she'd been suppressing to fill her face. This was her chance. Her chance to finally claim what was hers.
Clarisse folded her hands on the table, glancing at her two daughters. "You both are, as of this moment, Co-CEOs of Apex. Whoever is chosen shall be given a majority stake, enough to solidify their authority in this company."
"And what happens to the loser?" Jenny asked.
Clarisse tilted her head slightly, as if considering the question. "The loser will remain in their current position or be reassigned, depending on what the board deems appropriate."
The two daughters leaned back in their chairs, almost in sync. They both knew what this meant. Losing wasn't an option.

Jenny knew what was at stake. She'd fight and win. She would not be relegated to the sidelines while Jasmine sat in the Chairman's seat, wielding even more power than she already did.
Jasmine leaned forward, her blue eyes narrowing. "Mother, with all due respect, I've been running this company as CEO for years. Jenny," She glanced at her sister with disdain, "has no experience leading at this level. This competition feels unnecessary."
Clarisse smiled at her daughter. "The board needs to see who can bring the most value to Apex, Jasmine. Your tenure as CEO doesn't exempt you from that test. Consider this an opportunity to prove your worth."
Jenny smirked, enjoying her sister's frustration. But she knew better than to let her guard down. Jasmine would not be an easy opponent and this was definitely going to be a brutal fight.
"Six months." Clarisse said, rising to her feet. "That is all the time you have. Make the most of it."
