100X Returns System: I Dominate the Age of Gods-Chapter 218. Inari
"Do you have any idea about its functions??" Andrea asked Kevin skeptically while looking at the formation blueprint in his hands.
"Not sure, since it uses light stones, it must be some anti-demonic formation, yet I can’t understand the structure and placements of the runes; it feels like..." Kevin tried to say something, but his mind remained blank.
"Feels like what?" Andrea asked with a serious expression.
"I think it’s a very powerful array..." Kevin spoke cluelessly, lost in inspecting the treasure in front of him; Andrea’s questions became secondary in front of the gold mine that had been handed to him.
Right now both of them had just returned after making the deal with the golden raven.
Andrea witnessed the destruction piling up on the battlefield outside the academy from above.
The academy grounds below them had turned into a grim landscape of shattered stone, collapsed towers, and scattered debris.
Smoke curled upward from several ruined structures, mainly commercial complexes and recreational areas unprotected by the barrier.
As she raised her head, she saw the blooms of light behind the clouds.
Each flash illuminated the sky briefly, followed by thunderous reverberations that rolled across the sky. "Senior is still fighting that demon; I don’t know why Bellial’s stamina or demonic energy is not running out at all. It’s common knowledge that illusions consume both energy and mental power."
Kevin heard her and looked up for the first time, realizing that they were on the academy premises already. His eyes lingered on the flashes in the sky.
Boom
An explosion drew everyone’s attention on the battlefield; the clouds in the sky parted, and a figure beamed towards the ground.
Crash!!!!
It crashed on the ground with great force. The impact sent fragments of stone flying in every direction as the ground cracked beneath the pressure. A shallow crater formed instantly, dust and broken marble scattering outward like a violent wave.
Andrea turned towards the figure that had just been thrown to the ground and realized that it was Demon Lord Bellial’s figure that had just crashed.
It sat in the rubble, and coughing noises sounded. Dark smoke curled faintly from his body as he pushed aside fragments of broken stone.
Another figure descended from the sky; it was a fox-kin lady with nine tails on her back. She descended in a tall and poised posture; her long white hair with crimson locks flowed with the wind.
Her white fox ears had a hint of a similar crimson at the edges. Behind her, a fan of 9 large fluffy tails that were snow-white with vivid red tips spread outward, like each had a will of its own.
Her gown was made of layered silk and golden fabric; the creases trailed like mist around her legs.
She descended as though she were here to enforce her will on mortals, serene and untouchable. The air around her rippled faintly with spiritual energy, bending lightly under her presence.
Andrea bowed. "Senior, I have no words; if not for you, I would have been in deep trouble."
The lady looked at her and smiled. "I have told you countless times, Andrea!! "You should call me Senior Sister!! Drop the formalities already," she spoke with a light gentle smile.
Andrea’s eyes flickered for a moment; in that split second, the crashed figure of Belial chuckled. The sound was mocking, like it was amused by a small mistake.
The lady looked at that figure with disgust, but before she could do anything, Andrea attacked.
Not Bellial, but her. Yes, Andrea attacked the nine-tailed foxkin she just thanked and called senior, completely taking her off guard.
"Bullshit, Senior Inari never talks like that; her tongue is the most venomous thing I have ever heard."
Andrea’s attack came suddenly. Sharp crystalline shards erupted from the ground and shot toward the foxkin with blistering speed.
The demon lord Belial that had crashed onto the ground slowly dissolved and turned into Inari, a wounded and tired Inari.
Meanwhile, the Inari that had just been attacked by Andrea turned into Demon Lord Bellial’s figure.
"Tsk, you bastard of a lizard, Andrea, I raised you for this day!! so that you could badmouth me in such a situation in front of this shitty, holeless bastard!!"
Inari shouted as she tried to stand up from the crashed cavity in the earth; meanwhile, Bellial screamed, "Graaah!" You insects are so pesky!!!"
"Fucker, it’s your mother who is an insect, and that too a sewage worm." Inari did not stop; she hadn’t been giving her tongue a break.
Her curses flowed like an endless stream, each insult was sharper than the last. Andrea imagined what Bellial’s ears must have heard the whole time he was fighting her, and she could not help but shiver just thinking about it.
Still, Andrea couldn’t deny Inari’s help had been crucial for her.
Bellial couldn’t take it anymore; no matter how cool-headed he was, he was slowly losing his mind under Inari’s curses, and his illusions were being hindered by Inari’s words.
He moved immediately, making up his mind to end Inari’s life.
Andrea realized this and moved to intercept him; several crystals shot towards him, blocking his path, but were smashed by a wave of his hands. The demonic energy bursting from his palms shattered the crystal barrage like fragile glass.
Andrea tried to block, but Bellial immediately activated an illusion, distracting her only for a split second.
Andrea lost the momentum and crashed into a building irritatingly. The stone wall cracked as her body slammed through it, fragments of brick and dust exploded outwards.
Bellial had just removed the building from her sight using illusion and had shown her space to intercept him, making a fool of her.
Meanwhile, Inari, who looked at Bellial approaching her, closed her eyes.
This is how Inari had fought at first; she was a spiritual energy user, in fact, the best spiritual energy user in the whole Aris and also the matriarch of the fox clan.
Countering Bellial was simple for her; she had to close her eyes and just use spiritual energy against him, engaging him for so many hours. No vision will lead to no illusion, or so she had thought.
But unfortunately she had left her ears unchecked, and Bellial, after realizing that his visual illusions were ineffective, had turned to using auditory illusions.
At that point in time he had caught her off guard, making her crash on the ground in such a bad state.
Inari got a valuable lesson, and right now she covered her ears with two of her furry tails while she closed her eyes and used her spiritual sense to track Bellial.
The soft fur of her tails pressed firmly against her ears, sealing them completely of any noise.
At the decisive moment when Bellial was about to attack, Inari raised her hand and clenched it.
Bellial stopped in mid-air; he felt like his neck was being hung by a massive coil. Invisible spiritual energy tightened around his throat like a crushing serpent.
"Yes, keep him stationary," Andrea shouted, hoping to land an attack on Bellial, but she overlooked the fact that Inari’s two tails covered her ears. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Andrea launched a barrage of sharp crystals towards Bellial’s figure, but his figure got trashed on the ground by Inari at a very critical moment, missing the sharp crystals, which then flew towards Inari.
Sensing the approaching projectiles, Inari lost focus from Bellial and used spiritual energy to shield herself.
"Andrea!!!" Inari shouted, "I will kill you, bitch!!!"
"Oh shit!!" Andreaa, meanwhile, clenched her head in frustration as she saw Bellial’s figure getting released from Inari’s grasp.
In the next moment, she didn’t even see anything coming, yet she felt like her head was hit by an asteroid.
The impact was brutal, and Bellial had gone for her head.
The air exploded around her as an invisible wave of demonic force struck her body and hurled her across the battlefield. The ground shattered where she landed, carving a trench through broken stone.
Inari closed her eyes and ears again hurriedly as she saw Andreaa in danger, but before she could utilize her spiritual energy, a palm of demonic energy slammed into her, sending her flying for a distance before she crashed against a reinforced wall.
Bellial’s figure appeared in front of Inari.
"You curse a lot; now I will make you regret every curse of yours," Bellial sneered and moved towards her, a sword emitting strong demonic energy appeared in his hand.
Andrea, meanwhile, lay stunned at a distance. She didn’t know what had hit her, but she felt like she almost had a concussion. The world spun around her as she struggled to focus.
She was sure it was an attack filled with demonic energy; she felt the toxicity in the wound on her head.
"Oh shit!!, senior is in trouble!!" she murmured, looking at Bellial walking towards Inari with the intention to kill her.
