10,000x Reward Multiplier: Hell-level Kingdom Building-Chapter 27: [0] Noah
Floki’s final attempt to get both of them out of the dungeon before it fell took a toll not only on his body but also on his soul.
For a moment, as the final notification flashed in his retina and the dungeon began to disintegrate, he felt helpless as darkness suddenly enveloped his entire being. As his eyes shut, he felt a surreal sensation he could not explain. It was as though his body was being transported at an alarming speed, almost similar to what he felt when he transmigrated to this world.
The feeling halted abruptly, and when he opened his eyes, he was now standing, or more precisely, floating in a strange and dark place that stretched vastly, seemingly without end.
’This place..’
Floki recognised it as the place he had met Noah and Magnus when he first awakened his system.
But this time, he was alone; there was only endless darkness surrounding him.
Seeing this, his heartbeat quickened as a grim expression adorned his face.
’A-am I dead?’
Did he fail to exit the dungeon before it collapsed and unfortunately get crushed within it?
As he tried to wrack his brain to recall what had actually happened before he blacked out, suddenly, a blinding sphere of light appeared far away from him, and as soon as it appeared, it began zapping towards him at a fast pace.
’What is that?’
Floki was confused at the appearance of a white sphere that resembled a portal the closer it drew near him.
Whether it was harmful or helpful, he could not tell.
Yet Floki found himself unable to move from its path, which caused his eyes to widen with fear of the unknown.
The light reflected in his eyes but wasn’t blinding as the sphere drew even closer to him.
And finally, the sphere appeared in front of him and halted, and suddenly, a strong suction force blasted out from the light portal, and against his will, Floki was swallowed, his body undergoing a sensation that felt as though he was falling from a great height.
He tried to scream, but no voice came out, and thus he could only observe and see what was on the other side of the mysterious portal.
And then, just as quickly as the sensation appeared, it vanished, and Floki found himself floating once more.
Yet this time, it wasn’t in the vast darkness but in a different world similar to the modern Earth he grew up in.
’Where is this?’
He wondered as he scanned the place curiously.
His first assumption that the place was similar to Earth was correct; there were many skyscrapers and tall modern buildings. There were even cars, planes, and other modern items that proved his assumption true.
Nonetheless, the state of the place was different.
Everything was a mess.
Collapsed buildings, burnt cars, broken roads, and so on.
’What the heck happened?’
He wondered as he observed the streets even closer, and at that moment, his eyes fell upon humans fighting against other humans.
But these other humans were not ordinary based on the rotten pigments of their bodies, which resembled something Floki already knew... they were zombies.
’A zombie apocalypse happened on Earth after I was transmigrated, or is this another world?’ he wondered.
Based on the state of the destroyed infrastructure, it was obvious that the destruction had taken place for a long time, maybe even more than a month.
And he had only been transmigrated from Earth for two days at most, so it was most likely not his Earth.
As Floki was still scanning the place, his eyes landed on a deserted area among the mayhem where a single figure could be seen sitting amongst a heap of zombie corpses.
For whatever reason, when his eyes landed on this figure, his vision automatically zoomed in and became clearer, as though the world wanted him to see who this person was.
Floki scanned this person closely, and his eyes widened.
It was one of his two best friends, Noah.
Yet it wasn’t the realisation that it was his friend that baffled him the most, but the action his friend was currently engaged in.
He was eating the zombie corpses.
’This...’
Floki was speechless.
He watched as Noah, whose back was now turned against him, bit hungrily into the torso of a zombie corpse and feasted on it like a raging beast.
Noah continued this action, moving from one devoured zombie corpse to another without pause, as though he was cursed with unending hunger.
There were even some zombies who were still alive amongst the heap of corpses, and they tried to flee away from the devourer.
But Noah easily gripped them, snapped their necks with his hand, and then feasted on them like he did with the rest.
"This can’t be..."
Floki muttered to himself.
This was definitely not his friend, he thought.
He considered it all a dream meant to mess with his head, probably due to overexerting himself too much at the goblin den.
But something within him told him what he was witnessing was real, and with the current clarity of everything, he believed that feeling.
’What happened?’ he wondered as he scanned the entire place once more, taking his eyes off Noah.
On the other streets, the other humans he could see were in combat with zombies and some other humanoid monsters. He witnessed these humans use all forms of powers like elemental magic, telekinesis, and super strength.
The question ’what happened’ continued to repeat in his mind as he witnessed all this.
And as he turned back to look at Noah,
To his surprise, Noah was now standing amongst the heap of corpses and was looking up into the sky, directly at him, or rather at the position he was currently floating in.
’He can see me?’ Floki wondered.
Out of habit, he even waved at Noah, his friend.
But there was no reaction from him, which proved that he wasn’t exactly seeing him.
Yet from the twisted frown on his friend’s face, he could tell that he was suspecting something.
’Noah has always been the most sensitive to the environment amongst the three of us,’ Floki thought with a faint smile on his face.
But just as that thought emerged, the white portal suddenly appeared in front of him, and just like before, a strong suction force came and dragged him inside.
While being transported within the confines of the white portal, many questions arose in his mind as he tried to understand what he had seen and why exactly the white portal had taken him there to witness it.
