After learning the truth that Asher Land wouldn’t touch her, Sophie Smith felt a slight sense of relief.

She ran to tell Eva Miller, who, after hearing the news, was visibly shocked.

"Oh my, President Land is really quite the gentleman," Eva Miller exclaimed.

"Actually, Sophie, you didn’t really want to have a second child, right?"

Sophie didn’t deny it, but she was curious how Asher Land had sensed she didn’t want a second child, as she had never mentioned it to him.

"Alright, don’t overthink it..." Eva Miller said, reaching to touch her own belly, "It’s a pity no one is here with me now."

Eva Miller pouted, looking displeased, "Childbirth really terrifies me, Sophie, what should I do? Just the thought of getting cut open makes me tremble all over."

"Pfft." Sophie couldn’t help but burst into laughter, "Just go with the flow, having a child is something every woman goes through; if a woman hasn’t had a child, it could also be seen as a regret."

"But, when the child is born without a biological father, isn’t that... also a regret?" Eva Miller asked softly, looking down at her belly. The sadness in her words was something Sophie could hear clearly, and unintentionally, Eva prodded at her own sore spots.

"Eva, don’t say that, your brother-in-law treats you so well; he’ll treat this child as his own."

"But there will definitely still be a barrier in his heart." Yes, Luke Land treated her well, but surely not well enough to view a child she had with another man as his own blood.

"Sophie, you know, I really regret it now. Maybe I should have terminated this pregnancy from the start, and I shouldn’t have married Luke Land, I..."

"Eva!" Sophie interrupted her sternly, "No more ’buts’. Since you’ve decided to have the child and agreed to marry your brother-in-law, you should face everything head-on, got it?"

Eva Miller tightly gripped the water cup in her hand, thought for a long time, and finally nodded.

"No." Eva Miller stood up and walked out with Luke Land, who opened the car door for her and even fastened the seatbelt for her before she could. He was so considerate.

Luke Land was actually quite attentive. Initially, Eva Miller resisted, but eventually, she got used to it. Now, if he stopped taking care of her one day, she knew she’d feel uneasy.
