Faint and scattered footsteps could be heard at the door; Eva Miller opened her eyes and realized the door wasn’t properly closed.

She casually slipped on a pair of slippers and dragged her still heavy feet toward the door, but before her hand touched the doorknob, she overheard a whispered conversation.

"I don’t see what’s so great about this Young Madam. How did Second Young Master get interested in her, a woman from the entertainment industry? It’s really beneath our family’s status."

Eva’s hand froze on the doorknob, her fingertips slightly trembling.

"Oh, maybe Second Young Master is just following Third Young Master’s lead. Didn’t Third Young Master also marry a star? These actresses are beautiful and have good figures, which is good for showing off."

"But I see that Second Young Master doesn’t seem very enthusiastic about this Young Madam. Look, he just came home and hurried off to the company again. Maybe this Young Madam will fall out of favor in the future too."

The chatter outside grew louder, making Eva feel irritable and restless. Normally, she wouldn’t stand for others gossiping behind her back, but considering this was Luke Land’s home, she held back.

She applied a bit of force to her hand and slammed the door shut with a noise.

The maid outside was startled, staring dumbly at the door for a while.

Eva lay on the window sill, tossing and turning, unable to sleep anymore.

She picked up her phone and directly called Luke Land.

"Luke Land, I want you to come back right now!"

"Little Chili, what’s wrong?" Luke asked softly.

"I’m in a bad mood!"

"Who upset you?" Luke shook his head helplessly as he spoke, walking toward the office door.

Eva didn’t respond, so Luke kept coaxing her.

"What do you want to eat? I’ll bring it back for you."

"Where do you want to go tonight? I’ll take you."

"..."

On the other end of the line, Eva clutched the phone, her muffled voice reaching Luke’s ears.

"I just want you to come back..."

She said, I just want you to come back.

He paused, then a noticeable smile spread across his face, and he quickened his pace toward the parking lot, his mood lifted.

He rushed back to Land Family, surprising the butler since he hadn’t yet instructed the maid to prepare dinner, "Second Young Master..."

Luke didn’t listen to her, striding quickly towards his room.

He knocked on the door, only to find it had been locked from the inside.

"Little Chili, open the door, I’m back."

Inside the room, there was a slight commotion, and Eva sluggishly got out of bed to open the door.

"What’s wrong?" Her eyes were red, looking as if she had been crying.

Eva felt she was being a bit melodramatic; it was just some gossip from the maids, why was she crying?

"I’m not used to living here."

"Is that all?" Luke found it amusing; Eva usually seemed carefree, but inside she was a bit sensitive.

"Then, I’ll spend more time at home with you?" Luke asked tentatively.
