Family rules of an extreme nature can completely transform a person inside and out.
"Hmph!"
Such an important matter, and while the Hyuga and Shimura clans sent their clan leaders, the Uchiha sent Kazuki, a mere squad captain from the police force. This was clearly a sign of disrespect. Yama felt his dignity was at stake. Additionally, Kazuki didnāt even bother to greet him, which further fueled his discontent.
Ignoring the simmering anger of Yama, Kazuki casually pulled up a chair, sat down, picked up a teacup from the table, took a sip, and then folded his hands in front of him. His attitude was relaxed and came across as rude.
Sitting opposite Kazuki, Hiashi instinctively frowned, but quickly relaxed. Today, he was merely a mediator, not a principal party. Kazukiās attitude displeased him, but since it was directed at Yama and not him, he saw no reason to intervene.
Hiashi had heard some things about Kazuki and couldnāt guarantee that if things got heated, Kazuki wouldnāt start cursing.
"My presence here means I represent the Uchiha clan. If you have any issues, please speak plainly," Kazuki said, his ungracious tone clearly aimed at Yama. If Hiashi took offense to this, Kazuki would only think that the Hyuga clan was hopelessly naive.
"Uchiha Kazuki, the Uchiha clan has no respect for rules. Fugaku Uchiha sent a mere child to such an important negotiation! This shows a complete lack of sincerity," Yama accused, hoping to gain the upper hand by bullying the young Kazuki. He aimed to dominate the conversation, establish his authority, and then negotiate at his leisure.
"Oh, then Iāll just leave," Kazuki said decisively. If Shimura thought the Uchiha lacked sincerity, then there was no point in talking. Kazuki stood up to leave.
"Hmph!!!" Yama snorted again, not believing Kazuki would actually leave. He crossed his arms, ready to watch Kazuki make a fool of himself, knowing he wouldnāt plead for Kazuki to stay.
"..."
āIs he really leaving?ā As Kazuki reached for the door, Hiashi realized Kazuki wasnāt joking; he genuinely intended to leave. Kazuki thought, "If you believe Iām insincere, I wonāt stop to cursing in front of Hiashi. Iāll just leave. What negotiation? Forget it! Let the Shimura clan continue to endure their situation. Negotiate my foot."
"Wait!!!" Hiashi, seeing Kazuki about to walk out, couldnāt stay seated any longer. He quickly stood up, set his daughter down, raised his hand, and called out, "Kazuki, Yama is just frustrated because his clan has been targeted. Thereās no other intention. I believe itās better for everyone to sit down and discuss things, as we are all ninja families of the village. It would look bad if things escalated."
āHeās really leaving?ā Yama was stunned. He only wanted to assert his dominance, but Kazukiās response was to walk out. How could they negotiate like this?
"It would look bad if things escalated?" Kazuki stopped and turned to give Yama a cold smile. "The Uchiha have long stopped caring about such things. Weāve been targeted for decadesādecades! During this time, the Shimura clan has often added insult to injury. Why didnāt Clan Leader come? Because he canāt make decisions on these matters. Frankly, I have no intention of negotiating either. The way the Shimura clan treated the Uchiha will be how we treat you now. Itās what you deserve."
Hiashi was flabbergasted. This was unbelievableāno chance for negotiation at all. Yamaās face turned red with anger. Kazuki had shown him no respect, even though he was a clan leader. Who cared about him?
"Uchiha Kazuki, donāt be so arrogant. Lord Danzo and the Shimura clan wonāt let you get away with this. Donāt think you can run wild. The Uchiha are still an evil clan!" The enraged Shimura leader, disregarding his own dignity, slapped the table and shouted.
"Hahaha." Kazuki laughed heartily at Yamaās threat. "I look forward to it. Just donāt come crying when it backfires on you. I remember everything youāve done, and Iāll make sure you pay for it."
"Also..." Kazuki continued, "Donāt be shameless. If it werenāt for Hiashi, Iād be cursing you out right now. Youāre nothing but a clown jumping around, a rat hiding in the gutter."
The Shimura clan had always operated in the shadows behind Danzo. From the moment they chose to support Danzo, their fate was sealed.
"You..."
The Shimura leader was furious, about to curse back when Hiashi, who had had enough, coughed loudly. His daughter was still present, and he wished for some decorum.
Hiashiās cough cut off Yamaās retort, leaving him feeling deeply uncomfortable. Negotiation? The Uchiha had no intention of negotiating. Kazuki came only out of respect for the Hyuga clan; otherwise, they wouldnāt even engage. The Uchiha were determined to go against the Shimura clan. Kazuki respected the Hyuga, and Yama had to as well; otherwise, heād alienate both clans, which was not worth it.
Though he understood this, Yama felt aggrieved. He nearly spat out blood in anger, angrily storming out without even a farewell.
"Sigh~~~" Hiashi sighed, looking at his daughter, wide-eyed and seemingly frightened. He felt a sense of helplessness. The situation was botched, and his daughterās reaction was disappointing. As a future clan leader, his daughter should be as calm and composed as Itachi, not easily scared.
Comparisons are inevitable. Among the ten great clans, leaders of similar age became clan heads, but Fugaku Uchihaās son excelled while Hiashiās daughter remained timid. Even compared to the same-aged Sasuke, Hinata fell short. Such comparisons pained Hiashi. Thereās always that child who excels in every way, but unfortunately, it wasnāt Hinata. Disheartened, Yama left, and Hiashi could only feel a sense of defeat.
