"Thatâs not good," Renz said after some thought. "Sheâs still your momâs secretary, after all."
Stop your dangerous pronouncements! So you really did consider letting me sleep on the floor!
Akemi Tenzaki felt the tea she was holding was scalding hot, and the strangest thing was... how could these two say such things so nonchalantly? So young, yet so frank that they were willing to sleep on the same bed. This is crossing the line. No wonder the boss asked her to keep an eye on them; if she didnât supervise, someone was bound to die tonight.
"Iâm quite sturdy; Iâll just sleep on the floor," Renz said politely, without waiting for Akemi Tenzakiâs wild thoughts to take over her mind.
A knock on the door. The hotel staff had brought the requested extra set of bedding, along with a blanket to spread on the floor. Since other chefs also brought friends and family, and there wasnât enough room, sleeping on the floor had become quite normal.
The problem still lay with the program team, insisting on choosing such a remote location for filming where available accommodations were scarce. Renz took the blanket and spread it on the bedroom floor. There were exactly two pillows on the bed, so he would probably have to sleep without one.
"Itâs getting late; letâs get some rest," Renz checked the time on his phone. Originally, after Erina and he had showered, it would have been bedtime. But then Mana Nakiri arrived, delaying bedtime and bringing in a huge third wheel.
However, on second thought, this was actually quite good; at least he wouldnât have to face the Old Manâs Dragon Slaying Blade.
If the Old Man knew he and Erina were alone in a room, even if nothing happened, heâd probably charter a private helicopter and parachute straight to the programâs location to show Renz what a true iron-blooded man was like. With a third wheel providing cover, self-preservation should be fine.
Akemi Tenzaki was startled; it seemed things werenât as exaggerated as she had imagined. Aside from their "excessive" remarks, everything else was within standard limits.
"Goodnight, Erina," Renz lay down on the floor futon, wrapped in his blanket. Already a bit sleepy, he felt tired as soon as he touched the covers. Erina, at the head of the bed, reached out and pinched Renzâs face.
"What are you doing?" Renz had just closed his eyes when Erina "punished" him, saying somewhat angrily.
"Get up," Erina waved her hand, but after assessing the distance between them, it still wasnât quite enough. She added, "I want some water, but I canât reach it. Get me the bottled water from the table."
"Oh," Renz half-sat up and brought the bottled water from the table.
"This is a goodnight kiss," Erina lightly pecked Renzâs forehead.
"Youâre unbelievable," Renz rubbed the spot where she had kissed him. Just for water, she had to kiss his forehead. Erina only took a small sip of the water before putting it down.
Akemi Tenzaki retracted her previous thoughts. These two had a serious problem! Although Akemi Tenzaki was an "old woman" in her thirties, she could still clearly see certain things.
Was the bossâs daughter really asking for water? It was probably a ruse; she wanted to kiss him. Damn it, how did I mysteriously end up being force-fed dog food? Sheâd bear it for now and silently take note.
Akemi Tenzaki silently took off her clothes, then said to Erina, "Excuse me for intruding." She lay on the bed, placing her black-rimmed glasses on the bedside table. Sheâd take a look before sleeping; what happened after she fell asleep was none of her business.
As long as the two of them didnât go too far, Akemi Tenzaki actually didnât want to interfere. If she did, sheâd please neither side. Moreover, her presence here was meant to be a deterrent; with her as a third wheel, even the boldest people wouldnât dare to get too wild.
Night deepened. Renz gradually drifted into dreamland. He was already very tired and had no energy. Once he lay down and fell asleep, he entered "dead fish" mode, sleeping soundly and unconsciously. The two people on the bed. Akemi Tenzaki yawned.
She was a bit sensitive to beds; she always had trouble sleeping on a bed that wasnât her own, especially with someone else sleeping next to her. Even though it was a woman, she was used to sleeping alone and found it hard to adapt. Erina wasnât asleep either. Because she simply didnât want to sleep on the bed. Especially with a stranger.
In school, there was no choice; Erina was under her grandfatherâs strict military-style discipline, preventing her from "misbehaving." Her plan to live with Renz was directly cut short, and because of Mashiro Shiina, she had to ask Renz for help with care.
After finally passing her grandfatherâs test, agreeing to date, and officially entering a "relationship" with Renz, she had finally found an opportunity to be alone and live together during this program. But then her own mother had single-handedly stopped it. Not only did she stop it, but she also sent someone over to be a third wheel. This was infuriating. She turned her head.
She saw Renz, looking like a dead man, with a "silly" expression. Erina felt a surge of anger in her heart. Couldnât he just kick the secretary off the bed and crawl onto the bed himself? What a clumsy pig! Of course, these were Erinaâs thoughts driven by "rage," and they remained just thoughts. In terms of moral character, Erina was quite graceful.
She secretly glanced at Akemi Tenzaki. Is this secretary asleep yet? Should I make her some sleep-inducing food tomorrow to make her sleep soundly? Listening to the breathing of the person beside her, Erina boldly predicted that the other person was not asleep. People who were truly asleep usually had very regular breathing. It was almost 1 AM, and she still wasnât asleep? Are you a night owl? Canât sleep even with your eyes closed without looking at your phone?
Time flowed by, minute by minute. Renz, in his sleep, turned over. He was still sleeping soundly. When a person is extremely tired and falls asleep, itâs very difficult to wake them up. This time, Erina listened to the breathing of the person next to her again. She breathed a long sigh of relief. Thank goodness, sheâs finally asleep.
Erina quietly lifted the covers, tiptoed out of bed, and slipped into Renzâs futon. The warmth of the futon calmed Erina. She extended her slender fingers and gently touched Renzâs lower back. Renz was in a deep sleep, but he felt something touch his back. In his unconscious state, he still felt it. Feeling a little uncomfortable, he immediately rolled over. Looking at Renz, now facing her after turning over, Erina quietly observed him in the darkness.
Renz, at this age, looked so childlike when he slept. Eh eh eh. Whatâs going on?! Erinaâs face flushed slightly. One of Renzâs arms was draped over her, and his other leg had also crossed over.
Renz, still in his sleep, frowned. He seemed to have touched something, but he couldnât open his eyes or wake up. However, he instinctively felt that this was something he could hug. Renz reached out and pulled her closer.
With such a hug, Erinaâs entire body felt hot, a thin layer of sweat appearing on her forehead. She felt a mix of nervousness and subtle excitement, her face unknowingly turning crimson. Is he... so restless when he sleeps? Why didnât I ever notice this before? Looking at the face that suddenly pressed close to hers, Erina felt herself gasping for breath.
Renz, in his sleep, rubbed his face against her, and then all his movements seemed to hit a program, stopping completely. He remained in that single-armed embrace, not moving again.
At this moment, Erinaâs fair, beautiful face had turned into a ripe apple, even the tips of her ears tinged with crimson. Under Renzâs single-armed embrace, she gently pressed against his chest, listening to his strong and surging heartbeat.
Before Erina could catch her breath, on the bed, Akemi Tenzaki, who had just fallen asleep, rubbed her eyes. She stretched, half-asleep and hazy, and slowly walked towards the bathroom.
This movement made Erinaâs heart almost leap out of her chest. However, Akemi Tenzaki soon walked back from the bathroom and lay down on the bed again. All was quiet. Erina let out a long sigh of relief. She would crawl back to bed soon. As she thought about it, a wave of drowsiness washed over her. She... also fell asleep.
