My Weekly Refreshing Mentor Spirit
Chapter 445 - 330: Breaking Through the Grand Expedition Overnight (Part 3)
Xue Dili knew nothing about archaeology and artifact excavation, but the Cursed Blood perfectly compensated for this shortcoming.
He attempted to slowly permeate the Cursed Blood under the shell of the volcanic ash, and then obtained the information beneath.
Sure enough, he found more inscriptions, and after Xue Dili pieced these words together, he discovered information that left him dumbfounded.
"The four skeletons here aren't all human. Two are from the Demon Race, and the other two are human, and their genes are almost identical!" Xue Dili was stunned.
Adding Lana into the mix, her genes are quite similar as well.
Xue Dili seemed to have discovered the secret of this world. He originally suspected that the Demon Race and humans might be of the same race, similar to how Caucasians and Africans are different sub-races of the same species due to long-term separation.
Little did he know that, from the looks of it now, humans and the Demon Race actually have identical genes.
Some people had realized long ago that humans and the Demon Race are brothers.
He continued to gather these inscriptions and, using his imagination, gradually developed a story.
This was a team of members participating in a grand expedition, who also briefly became a couple during their time together. Their Heroic Spirits died to protect them, leaving them with no choice but to flee to a cave, hoping their side's victory would lead them out.
But a day later, they discovered another team of Demon Race members came to the cave. After a fierce battle which ended in mutual suffering, they suddenly realized their adversaries shared their plight.
The two Demon Race members were siblings, also members of the grand expedition, and similarly had lost their Heroic Spirits, leading them to flee here.
The four of them thus began to live here; the Demon Race and humans living in mutual reliance in this desolate place with no food.
During these few days, they shared stories of their hometowns, got to know each other, and shared their dreams and future.
Amidst hunger and thirst, they tried one of the Demon Race's traditions, which is to bind as brothers through blood.
Simply put, it involves two people's blood dripping together; if they merge, they are brothers, but if they repel and clot, there's no such fate. π§πβ―β―π€β―π£πβ΄πππ.ππ°π
Then, they were amazed to discover that the four of them could perfectly merge their blood.
This was their final discovery. The Demon Race duo thought it was God's will for them to bond, but the human member saw something amiss, leading him to a guess.
Could it be that humans and the Demon Race originated from the same root?
He recorded these notes here, briefly narrating the group's story. They awaited the end of the grand expedition, but what they awaited was not smoothly returning home, but being buried by volcanic ash.
After witnessing the volcanic eruption, he desperately hid with the others here, subsequently covering the inscribed words with his body.
This is the story of this cave.
After restoring the site, Xue Dili once again saw the recorded notes.
He was wrong, but he was also right about part of it.
Humans and the Demon Race are not from the same root but have almost identical genes. This can't be explained by the same ancestor; it's more like...
"They were all manufactured!" Xue Dili thought of cloning technology; the genes extracted from their bones seemed like they were manufactured through cloning.
At this moment, Xue Dili remembered he still had some of the Ninth Apostle's ashes in his hand.
He instantly entered the Consciousness Space and found a little bit of ash, now turned into fertilizer, beneath the sealed Insect-devouring Tree.
At that time, he dreaded the Ninth Apostle's lower half very much, hence he didn't dare to probe with Cursed Blood until after cremating the bones, he dared to use the ashes to feed his daughter.
Currently, the few remaining ashes were gradually being extracted by the Cursed Blood.
Xue Dili furrowed his brow, staring in horror at the information returned by the Cursed Blood.
The Ninth Apostle, these four skeletons, and the Count's noble young lady Lana all have nearly identical genes!
No... that's impossible, why are Lana's and the Ninth Apostle's genes exactly the same?
What exactly is this pollution brought about by the Summoning of Heroic Spirits?
Xue Dili took out the Pseudo-World Heart from the Consciousness Space, and above it, seven twisted shadows kept roaring.
Are these guys the true clan of the Ninth Apostle?
Simultaneously, everyone who took part in the grand expedition becomes a part of the Ninth Apostle's clan and is polluted by his genes?
Beside the Insect-devouring Tree, two crosses separately sealed the reproductive Zeus and Typhon.
Perhaps, it is not Zeus and Typhon that are chasing him, but what they want is... this world!
It is this world calling those two great gods who represent fertility, only that the external demon he summoned is Zeus and Typhon, who are closest to him.
Then, if the Summoning of Heroic Spirits continues, who will be summoned next? Kronos, Zeus's father? Or the reproductive Poseidon?
Xue Dili began to feel a headache; he seemed to be grasping some information, but the intelligence was still insufficient.
...
In the early hours, the time for the light curtain to be lifted was approaching.
In the distance, Lana couldn't sleep at all. She asked the female pirate beside her, "Can the mad Viscount really win?"
"He will win." The female pirate said.
In her view, Xue Dili's strength had reached the limit of her understanding. She believed there must be a stronger entity than Xue Dili in this world, but definitely not many.
As long as her group could constrain them, the rest could be left to Xue Dili to complete the slaughter.
That one slash severing space still made her shiver.
The Archer was observing them from afar, not revealing that she had already distanced herself from the man, hiding far away as a scout.
Soon, the light curtain was lifted.
"Get ready; I'm taking you away at any moment," the female pirate said, preparing for battle.
Meanwhile, Xue Dili directly blocked the door.
The moment the light curtain disappeared, he immediately rushed to the Demon Race's island and happened to run into four master-servant teams.
"Not a bad stroke of luck," Xue Dili said.
The opponents immediately prepared for battle, slowly surrounding him, as Xue Dili surveyed them.
Tier Three, Tier Three, quasi-Tier Four, and a quasi-Tier Three...
The power difference was too vast. Xue Dili had no idea how these demons could battle humans, let alone himself; even the Blood Duke could slaughter at will here.
This was not a battle but a massacre.
Compared with the human hosts, the Demon Race hosts had sallow skin, fierce faces, and were scantily clad.
But they all stared at Xue Dili, as if they saw their father's killer.
"Forget it, come at me together, I'm in a hurry." Xue Dili immediately drew the Dimensional Blade, charging forward, "Let's end this war before dawn."
...
Five minutes laterβ¦
Eight human bodies, still alive, were added to the Consciousness Space, restrained by the cross.
The Cursed Blood drilled into the Demon Race hosts, and the information returned confirmed Xue Dili's speculation.
The genes of these four hosts were still identical to Lana's and the Ninth Apostle's!
"It is not that I haven't found the Ninth Apostle's clan, but that every creature in this world is part of its clan..."
"Or rather, the Ninth Apostle assimilated the whole world..."
At this thought, Xue Dili had an extremely terrifying idea.
"Everyone in the world's gene is very close to that of the Ninth Apostle. Could this be a resurrection ritual?" He thought in horror, nearly screaming like a groundhog.
