Chapter 260

Ray had just left the ground level battle and dashed towards the top of a building with full speed.

Within a minute, he was directly in front of a spider that had just crawled atop the building.

The moment it sighted him, the beast dashed towards him with fluid speed.

[Rending Activated...]

Claw slashes tore from the gauntlets and sped towards the spider that quickly lifted its scythes to deflect the slashes away.

Before it could stabilise itself, Ray appeared before the beast like he had always been standing there all along.

Reacting quickly, the spider’s talons shot towards him with like an arrow.

However, Ray calmly sidestepped around the talon when a scythe lashed towards him from the side.

Lifting his gauntlet in front of his face,

Clang—!

The scythe scratched the surface of his weapon while he was pushed a few steps backward but he quickly regained himself as the spider lunged at him with blazing momentum.

Its mandibles clicking rapidly as it opened on his head ready to bite it off.

[Thunder Step Activated....]

Ray took a step and appeared six metres away from the beast while its mandibles closed in on the air with a loud snap.

Activating the skill again, Ray appeared before the beast faster than it could react and then he drove his fist into its chin.

Bang—! Bang—! Bang—!

The moment that one hit connected, the Tribrid didn’t stop as he pommeled the beast with powerful punches that caused the air to crack with every hit he landed on the spider.

The beast wasn’t given time to react as Ray was pushing the beast back with every punch until the beast was one step away from falling off the building.

Before it could, Ray grabbed the beast by its mandibles and pulled it towards his body before smashing his knees into its mandibles with his entire force.

The force of the knee strike caused cracks to appear atop the building, beneath their feet as more cracks widened across the beast’s armour.

A tiny gap of space!

The spider’s scythe slashed towards the Tribrid from both sides.

As if anticipating this, the Tribrid vaulted into the air allowing the scythes to slam into eachother when he landed beside the beast.

With his leg cocked backward like one ready to take a penalty kick, he sucked in a sharp breath before unleashing his leg forward in an explosive, bone shattering kick that hammered into the spider’s side lifting the beast and sending it flying off the building with blazing momentum.

Within a second, it crashed atop a car and the vehicle’s glass splintered into the air as a protruding spike from the car impaled itself through the cracks dealt to it by the human.

[You have dea...]

Ray quickly turned around to see more and more spiders climbing towards the building he stood atop.

Gazing into the distance, he caught sight of the gate which wasn’t churning beasts as fast as it was doing again.

"After I’m done here, I would have to go over there with something to pluck that gate otherwise this will be endless."

Pausing for a moment as about four spiders converged on his position, he frowned.

"If it’s a gate break, then where’s the boss? We have been here for ten minutes now."

He wasn’t given the leisure of time to think about the reason the boss was absent as the spiders had quickly pounced towards him in a flurry of scythes.

....

Van was still shooting out beams of energy disorienting some of the beasts and helping the Aspirants take them down in time.

Chloe stood a few metres behind him shooting out arrows that confused the beasts or even ploughed through their eyes long enough for the others to do their job.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t a close range fighter hence she had to keep her distance while shooting out arrows after arrows.

And sometimes, when the fired out arrows didn’t reach the velocity she desired, she would boost them with her telekinetic ability.

Van didn’t move from his position as he caught sight of the Iron Corps members’ ammo running out at an impressive rate.

’Hang on... those guns aren’t using regular, normal bullets I’m used to. What are those guns? They are shooting an almost similar type of beams like me but much more concentrated and smaller making it look like bullets.’

Firing out another beam, he was lucky to hit the eyes of a beast, totally snatching it’s sight from it. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

This gave Caster a chance to dispatch the spider in time.

’Are they new prototypes being created? They are sort of powerful though but in the wrong hands, they can’t deal much damage. They need to be in the right hands. From this position, I think the guns are high techs which means I can communicate with them, right?’

As he was deep in thought, he hadn’t realized that a spider had taken notice of him.

It had been going on its way trying to fight one of the other Aspirants when the loud sound from Van’s canon attracted its attention as it turned to his direction to see that the beams were injuring his kinsmen.

Nah. He wasn’t about to let this slide.

With the speed of an Advanced rank beast, it charged towards him, pushing anybody that stood in its path away.

Mid battle, Ray’s perception flared and he spun around to look down in Van’s direction.

His eyes stretched wide as he quickly pressed on his bud and shouted.

"Van! Incoming! I repeat; a beast is charging your way now!"

’Huh? Bea—?’

Turning around, the tech guru spotted the beast which was a metre away from him and approaching fast.

The panicked, flustered expression on his face switched into a much more calmer and crude smile as the cannons surrounding his hands began breaking down and forming a much more different construct.

Soon, he had a pair of sleek, metallic, black armour around both hands and jutting out of the knuckles were a pair of ethereal energy blades that were being powered by beast cores.

And it appeared just in time as the spider’s scythe was slashing towards his neck, aiming to rip it off his shoulders.
