Chapter 228

"Huh?" Elyon uttered as he walked forward to stand close to the chair.

Touching Bruce’s shoulder, he was finally able to see the outside world properly.

Even though there was a screen that could typically display the outside, it was often blurry to the others unless they made physical contact with whoever was currently in control.

On hearing Ray’s exclamation, the celestial decided to witness the scene for himself.

About four bodies lay spread out across the cavern floor.

Some had their limbs and frames mangled from the long fall, while others hadn’t survived the impact with the unforgiving ground.

Some of the Aspirants hadn’t hit the flat floor at all; instead, they had fallen onto protruding rocks that tore through them, leaving crimson to flow down the sharp, jagged stone.

Though he didn’t have a personal connection to them, Elyon’s stomach scrunched up for some reason—a mixture of visceral disgust and rising anger.

"For what exactly? Berg caused this just to take revenge on me? What was the gain?" Ray’s voice was low and trembling.

"The amount of Aspirants that fell from the sky were quite many, so this cannot be all of them."

Ray paused for a moment, his teeth grinding continuously as he glared at the screen.

"He has caused the death of so many students, and my friends’ lives are in constant danger back there. All for a stupid revenge?! AAAAAAAAAAARGH!" The Tribrid’s roar thundered into the mental void.

He felt like punching a wall, but with nothing around him, he simply resorted to clenching his hands until his knuckles turned white.

Bruce remained motionless as he surveyed the carnage.

Two of the fallen were beyond any help, their bodies a mangled mess from the velocity of the drop.

The other two had impaled themselves on the protruding, sharpened rocks that looked as long as spears but were double the width.

"You see," Ray pointed at the fallen Aspirants around them before he glared at the werewolf in control.

"... If we don’t leave for my friends now, they will suffer the same fate. So get out of the chair!"

Bruce didn’t reply for several seconds.

He kept scanning the area, his ears twitching at the slightest vibration.

"No."

Ray’s expression grew grave, anger flushing his features as he prepared to rush forward.

But then, he paused.

His own ears picked up a sound immediately. He concentrated, focusing entirely on the noise, and that was when it came again.

It was faint at first—that was why he had missed it earlier.

But now that he was locked in, he could hear it clearly with his heightened senses.

It was... a heartbeat!

"Wait. Those two are still alive!" he shouted, pointing toward the two individuals caught on the rocks.

Bruce said nothing at first.

A few seconds passed before he finally uttered,

"I know."

He then calmly walked toward the Aspirants, towering over them as their labored breathing became much clearer.

One girl had her fingers twitching slightly, her breath uneven and shallow.

Her eyes remained pressed shut from the exhaustion of blood loss.

Calmly, Bruce pulled the girl from the rock and placed her on the ground, making sure to lay her flat on her back.

Turning to face the boy on the second rock, he did the same, placing them both a meter away from each other.

Ray watched Bruce act with confusion on his features.

The guy was unconscious and if something wasn’t done soon, he would lose his life and so will the slightly conscious girl.

Ray could probably heal them, but his skill wasn’t strong enough to deal with this type of severe injuries.

So he turned to face Elyon who had a calm look on his beautiful face but deep down, an underlying pang of anger could be felt which he refused to express.

The girl not feeling the hard rock in her, slowly opened her eyes.

Weakly.

Her gaze weak like a dying flame as she looked into Bruce’s eyes.

"Pl-Pl-Please help me."

Tears fell down the girl’s eyes as she looked into that of Bruce’s cold gaze.

"I-I-I don’t want to die-die here. Pl- cough, cough... I don’t want to go now."

Bruce looked at her for several seconds before exhaling.

He gently grabbed her head off the ground as he knelt down before her.

The girl kept coughing. Blood streaming down her lips repeatedly as hope filled her at what the stranger Aspirant was doing.

After her head was elevated, Bruce stared deep into her eyes as if he was looking at her soul.

For some reason, the girl shivered under that gaze.

It... it didn’t look like the eyes of a saviour, but of a devil.

Opening his mouth, he leaned forward and whispered.

"I need your help. You are already a lost cause hence I’m going to use you to regain all I have lost."

He thought for a few seconds feeling the girl shivering in his grip on hearing those words.

... What- what did he mean by help him?

"I will make this as painless as possible for you."

Ray was utterly confused at what the werewolf was getting at.

"Hey, what do you plan on doi...."

Before he could complete his words, Bruce buried his face into the girl’s chest and the moment he lifted his head up, the sound of something being ripped apart.

Almost like the sound of fabric being torn was heard and with that, red mist oozed into the air like a fountain.

Bruce’s eyes were now glowing a bright yellow. His mouth elongated to that of a wolf; strips of bloody red meat hanging in between his fangs.

The girl stared at him in tremendous pain. Mouth opened to scream but all that rolled out was a cough followed by blood flowing down her mouth.

Her chest was torn open and the Aspirant before her was calmly chewing on her flesh as if it was a piece of steak.

Ray’s eyes widened to the max at what the werewolf was doing. His stomach churn in disgust.

Then he roared:

"What the fuck are you doing you overgrown wolf?!"
