There was a gap in the stone big enough for a person to pass through — not a designed opening, but the kind of absence something has when the stone simply decided not to be there.

The three entered in single file.

The interior was larger than the exterior.

Not by a little. Considerably.

The space they reached after crossing the threshold had a twelve-meter ceiling, walls that stretched farther than the exterior structure justified, and hallways branching off in four directions.

Kai looked at everything.

Then he looked at the walls.

They weren’t Aethon stone.

The texture was different — more uniform, without the irregularities left by manual labor or even construction magic.

This isn’t medieval.

It’s not magic in the sense Aethon uses magic.

It’s... like the other dungeon.

Kai searched for the word.

As if someone took technology from somewhere else and translated it into the language of this world.

Maybe they’re placing dungeons on purpose for the Streamers they brought here, like events.

Serah let her primordial aura seep out.

"The hallways change," she said.

Kai looked at her.

"When?"

"They’re changing right now." Serah looked at the hallway they’d entered through.

"The way back is no longer what it was."

Kai looked back.

The entry hallway was still visually identical.

But something in the angle had changed — not the geometry, the direction.

"Dynamic labyrinth," Lira said, without pulling her magic threads from the central hallway. "The so-called ’A_D_M’ didn’t build this so no one would get out. They built it so no one gets out without finding what’s at the center."

"How do you know there’s something at the center?"

"Because that’s how a trap works, obviously."

Kai watched the walls as he walked.

At the third turn he found something — not a symbol, not an inscription.

A different texture at a specific point on the wall, the size of a hand, where the material had been modified after the original construction.

He touched it.

Nothing happened.

But the Qi in his hand, active since the training session, responded — a brief pulse, like when two signals of the same frequency meet.

The fortress responds to Qi.

The system noticed it outside.

Then at the two parameters he had available to assess the situation — an SSS and an SS, both in active monitoring mode, neither showing the expression of something they considered an immediate danger.

"Let’s go," he said.
