Chapter 420 - 233: Enchanting Demon’s Monster Skill_2
And as one goes deeper into the Abyss, the environment will only become more and more terrifying.
In that kind of situation, it goes without saying: if you don’t have at least moderate, or even high-level resistance to common stuff like toxins, fire, and frost, there’s a very good chance you’ll be killed by the environment itself before you ever get to any sort of racial conflict.
His gaze dropped as he continued reading.
The second and third Bloodline Talents were "Dark Vision" and "Frightening Dignity", both of which had appeared in previous monster bloodlines.
So Raine just skimmed them, then moved on to the fourth entry, also the last Bloodline Talent in the Enchanting Demon bloodline.
"Huh? Unarmed combat?" Raine’s eyes lit up.
The fourth Bloodline Talent was called "Unarmed Combat Mastery".
Unarmed Combat Mastery Lv3, effect: You have a natural familiarity with any unarmed-combat-type Combat Skills. When using any unarmed-combat-type Combat Skill, your damage is increased by 30%; when learning any related Combat Skill, your learning speed is increased by 60%.
Unlike the previously acquired Monster Skills "Hammer Mastery", "Axe Mastery", or "Heavy Weapon Mastery", this "Unarmed Combat Mastery" didn’t rely on any weapon at all.
"Nice, in certain special environments, this could be really handy."
After thinking for a moment, Raine already had a few possible application scenarios in mind.
A moment later, in a very good mood, Raine started checking the Enchanting Demon’s Spell-like Abilities.
There were six Spell-like Abilities in total, and the first thing that came into view was the Enchanting Demon’s signature Spell-like Ability—"Charm Monster".
Charm Monster Lv1, effect: You may attempt to charm any one creature within 30 meters. If successful, that creature becomes friendly toward you and you can establish telepathy with it to issue commands in real time.
If you fail, the target will immediately realize you tried to charm it.
(Note: Even if you succeed, once the charm duration ends, the creature will realize it had been charmed by you.)
(Note: If, during the charm, you actively attack the creature, once the damage reaches a certain threshold, the creature will immediately break free of the charm.)
(Note: For any given target, this can only be cast once per day.)
Unlike "Charm Humans", which is only at First Level, Raine remembered very clearly that this "Charm Monster" was as high as a Fourth Level Spell on the Spell List, and its scope of application expanded from "humanoids" to "any creature".
Of course, whether it works or not depends on your own strength.
"No wonder I was affected back then. Enchanting Demon... this move is pretty nasty!"
Raine recalled the scene of himself getting hit by it earlier. Although, thanks to Monster Skills like Steadfast Will, he broke free quickly, that didn’t mean the Enchanting Demon’s move wasn’t powerful.
"And now I’ve got this move too." The corners of Raine’s mouth curled up slightly.
The second entry that followed was a Spell-like Ability highly associated with the first "Charm Monster", called "Telepathy".
Telepathy Lv1, effect: You may enter the mind of a creature that is friendly toward you and issue commands in real time.
(Note: This Spell Ability can only be used after control-type Magic such as charm, seduction, or other controlling Magic has successfully taken effect.)
His eyes continued downward.
"Oh, this one’s good too!"
"Is this converted from Pincer Strike?"
What appeared before Raine’s eyes was a move called "Fast Continuous Attack".
Fast Continuous Attack Lv3, effect: You may attack, either unarmed or with a weapon, three times in succession against all enemies in a straight line in front of you. On a hit, extra effects such as Piercing and Concussion are applied.
(Note: Attack distance is related to whether you are wielding a weapon; extra effects and their duration are influenced by the target’s Constitution and resistances.)
The fourth entry that followed was the Spell-like Ability "Dark Magic", which the Enchanting Demon had once pinned its hopes on for escape.
Dark Magic Lv2, effect: You may designate any point within 30 meters and create magical darkness in a spherical area about 20 meters in diameter.
(Note: Duration is related to your concentration. With sustained concentration, it can last up to 20 minutes.)
(Note: If there are light sources or light-type Magic within the spell’s area, a comparison check is made. If Dark Magic’s level is higher, it will extinguish the light source or light-type Magic, and vice versa.)
"Also a very practical spell." Raine nodded.
The fifth and sixth entries, the last two as well, were likewise very practical Magic: "Detect Magic" and "Dispel Magic".
Detect Magic Lv2, effect: For 20 minutes, you can sense the presence of Magic within about 20 meters around you.
(Note: The Magic can be sensed through most obstacles, but will still be blocked by certain special materials, such as a metal layer thicker than one inch, etc.)
Dispel Magic Lv2, effect: Designate one creature, one object, or one magical effect within Spellcasting range and terminate all Third Level or lower Magic affecting that target.
(Note: Whether a Fourth Level Spell can be dispelled depends on the comparison between your strength and the opponent’s.)
"Next time I won’t have to bother Meredith." Looking at "Dispel Magic", Raine couldn’t help but laugh.
...
On the other side.
Having used two space-type spells in succession yet still unable to escape the White Dragon’s pursuit, Siegfried had slowed his pace and gradually come to a stop.
He slowly turned around and looked up at the sky behind him.
Soon, a white dot in the sky rapidly enlarged, and the White Dragon’s figure quickly became clear.
At this moment, the dark-eroding Energy coiling around the White Dragon’s body had dissipated quite a bit, leaving only faint wisps of black smoke rising, but there was no sign of the wounds on her body healing.
At the same time, her massive white draconic body was dotted with black marks of all sizes, and her wide dragon wings were tattered, like a torn white umbrella.
Seeing that the black-robed Caster before her had finally stopped, a gleam flashed through Shuang Zhuo’s huge dragon pupils. Her chest cavity vibrated, and a deep voice boomed out:
"Despicable human Caster, you finally realized—you cannot escape!"
"White Dragon, the reason I’m staying here is only to tell you this: although you were struck by my attack, you were the one who first ruined my plan."
"Besides, are you sure you want to fight me to the death?"
Seeing the White Dragon itching to pounce, Siegfried spoke while taking a black crystal from his robe.
The crystal was rather strange, emitting a hazy black glow, and within it, a viscous black Energy, akin to quicksilver, flowed slowly.
Originally, as an adult White Dragon, Shuang Zhuo’s plan was: no matter what this black-robed Caster said, she would freeze him into an ice sculpture and bring him back to the glacier peak of the Lankote Snowfield to stand there for a long, long time.
But when her gaze swept over the pitch-black crystal in his hand, Shuang Zhuo’s expression trembled slightly, as if she had sensed something. Her face immediately grew solemn, and her mood shifted from the previous rage to a growing clarity.
"You serve that one?" Shuang Zhuo asked gravely, her tone probing.
Siegfried didn’t speak; he just nodded.
"Even so, you must compensate me for my losses." After pondering for a moment, Shuang Zhuo spoke while fanning her tattered wings.
Hearing the White Dragon’s words, Siegfried wasn’t surprised at all. He put away the black crystal, and then took out a heavy black pouch.
With a point of his finger, the pouch flew through the air and landed before the White Dragon.
"There is one bag of gems in here. I hope it can make up for your loss, Your Excellency."
"Not enough!" Using her huge dragon claw with surprising Dexterity, she opened the mouth of the bag. With just one glance, a hint of delight flashed in Shuang Zhuo’s massive dragon eyes.
"At least one more bag—no, two bags!" Shuang Zhuo held up one talon, then immediately changed it to two as she spoke.
"One more bag at most." Siegfried shook his head.
A few minutes later.
Siegfried’s figure vanished rapidly from the spot, while Shuang Zhuo happily stowed away the three bags of gems, sliding them into the gaps between her scales.
It was just that... now that she had calmed down, she immediately remembered the purpose of her trip to Dorne City.
’Do I go back to the snowfield first to heal my injuries?’
’Or do I go straight back and finish off that human?’
Shuang Zhuo fell into deep thought.
