She had no idea where Ye Yuan had gone. She had looked for him at the hospital and at the residence they had previously rented, but there was no sign of him. Ye Lu was completely frantic.

The Jun Family were also desperately sending people to look for him, but there was still no news.

"Yuanyuan, where the hell have you gone? Do you want to stress your mom to death?" Ye Lu was burning with anxiety.

After a long while, she suddenly thought of a place.

Ye Lu arrived at a public library. It had already closed for the night, dark and desolate. Only a small garden in front of the library was illuminated by a few path lights. The silence was deafening.

Ye Lu scanned the surroundings, but there was no sign of anyone.

She said in a deep voice: "Ye Yuan, come out. I know you’re here."

After a while, a small figure cautiously emerged from the bushes, calling out weakly, "Mommy."

Ye Lu rushed over and sure enough it was Ye Yuan. She noticed he was thinly dressed and immediately removed her coat to wrap him up. Yet, she couldn’t help but feel enraged.

"What are you doing here in the middle of the night? Don’t you know we’ve all been worried about you?"

Ye Yuan looked at her and said softly, "I don’t care about others being worried about me. I’m only worried if my mom stops worrying about me."

Ye Lu was taken aback. She turned away to hide her teary eyes,and stiffened her voice.

"Stop talking nonsense. I always thought you were the most sensible. Yet, here you are disregarding the concern of others. Come with me, I’ll take you home."

But Ye Yuan remained still.

"I’ve been hiding here, so that they can’t find me and take me back."

Ye Lu was growing more exasperated, "Why are you being so stubborn? We’re about to leave the country and someone has kindly agreed to help us. Can you stop creating trouble?"

"So you tell me, why is he helping us? I thought he was helping us because he and you were together. But now he’s marrying someone else. How could he possibly help us? There must be something else going on. What deal did you strike with him?" Ye Yuan asked her pointedly.

Ye Lu froze. She always knew her child was clever and sensitive, but she hadn’t expected him to realize it so quickly.

She had hoped that by the time he went abroad and discovered the truth, it would be too late for him to do anything.

Looking at his little hand still bundled in a cast, her heart ached. She had already made a choice, why was she still hesitating?

"Do you really want to know what deal I made?" She asks, her voice chillingly cold.

Ye Yuan nodded, his eyes full of questions.

"Alright, I’ll tell you. I’m tired, Mommy’s tired. There are so many things to worry about, our life has been so hard. With all the hiding and struggling for survival, I’ve had enough of living this way for seven years.

Now, someone likes you and your sister and is willing to adopt you which for me is a relief. Plus, Third Young Master Jun gives me one billion so that I can finally live a good life without suffering anymore. It’s a good deal for everyone."

Ye Lu forced herself to maintain eye contact. Each word she spoke was like a dagger to the heart; both to her child’s heart and her own.

Unbelievably, Ye Yuan watched her, his pale face and big eyes filled with tears.

"Is this true?" His childish voice shook.

"Yes. Now you know, I have sold you and your sister. You are no longer my children. You belong to the Jun family now. So please, could you go back? Stop bothering me. Come on, I’ll take you back."

Every word was like a knife cutting through Ye Lu’s heart, but her face remained cold and ruthless as she took his hand, leading him away.
