My Scheming Little Devil
Chapter 549: The Difficult Life of a Pregnant Woman_1
Returning home with groceries, Ye Lu looked at the water bottle just dumped at her doorstep and felt quite upset.
"How uncivilized. Can’t they help me move it inside?"
This place is so backward, the water delivery guys are incredibly irresponsible, just leaving it here.
Unable to do anything else, Ye Lu brought the groceries into the kitchen, then came out again, eyeing the hefty bottle of water. She took a deep breath and grabbed the neck of the bottle.
If it was just a normal day, this wouldn’t have been a big deal for her. She would have simply hoisted it up and carried it in, sprightly.
But now, with two babies in her belly and her body not in the best condition, her hands were weak and she couldn’t even straighten her back.
She reluctantly lifted the water bottle, took a few steps, then had to set it down, panting heavily, and had to rest.
"Sweeties, you aren’t as well-behaved as your older siblings," Ye Lu said with a bitter smile, patting her belly.
When she was pregnant with Yuanyuan and Yiyi, it was much easier than this pregnancy.
Back then, she was younger and healthier. Back then, Ye Wanli was a kind father, and she was well taken care of. She didn’t find carrying twins tiring at all.
Now, living alone and having to do everything by herself, she realized just how exhausting and hard it was.
Her back constantly ached, she couldn’t sleep all night, and her hands and feet were somewhat swollen.
She already struggled with lifting a bottle of water. What was she going to do as her belly grew bigger and bigger?
"Dear ones, help Mommy out a bit. If I don’t get this inside, Mommy will have nothing to drink," she pleaded.
Ye Lu gritted her teeth, tilted the bottle, and laboriously began to drag it into the yard. She could only go a few steps before needing a rest. After a great deal of effort, she finally got it inside.
But once she got the bottle inside, she really felt at a loss.
The water dispenser was about as tall as half a person. She had to lift the entire bottle and pour it into the dispenser’s opening.
But after several attempts, she simply couldn’t lift the heavy water bottle.
Ye Lu suddenly felt defeated. Thinking about how hard life was, she felt worn out and on the verge of collapse. Tears flowed freely. She couldn’t even handle a water bottle, how was she going to survive in the future?
She covered her face, her emotions getting the best of her, and squatted to the ground.
Watching her from the yard was Third Young Master Jun, who had just arrived. Seeing her struggle to lift the water bottle, only to break down crying from her efforts, he felt a prick of pain in his heart.
"Why are you crying?" he asked, walking over.
Ye Lu hadn’t expected him to be the one to come over. She quickly turned her head, wiped away her tears, stood up, and awkwardly bowed her head.
"I can’t lift the water."
Third Young Master Jun walked over with a frown, helped her lift the water onto the dispenser, filled a glass, and handed it to her.
"Thanks," she said, taking the glass and drinking.
The two of them had nothing else to say, the atmosphere was awkward. Ye Lu turned and went to gather the documents.
The documents were in a box, along with the children’s other belongings. Although Yuanyuan and Yiyi were no longer there, she couldn’t bear to throw away their things. When they moved, she even took their toys.
From time to time, she took out the children’s clothes and toys. Seeing them was like seeing the children again, causing her heartache and longing.
She dragged out the box, her forehead breaking out in sweat.
She tried to put it on the table, but didn’t have the strength. Third Young Master Jun lifted it and placed it on the table with one hand.
Ye Lu quickly rummaged through the children’s things.
"As an expectant mother living such a hard life, why don’t you go find Gu Yan?" Third Young Master Jun couldn’t help but ask.
Ye Lu tensed, her head drooped: "This was my choice."
"I suppose, having already birthed two kids, you might even think being a single mother is a great thing. The kids don’t need a father anyway," Third Young Master Jun sneered lightly.
"What do you mean by that?" Ye Lu’s lips were pale and her heart ached.
