He had never met such a ruthless woman before. Even as he begged for mercy, she relentlessly beat him to a pulp.

He lifted his head, looking into the woman’s dark, icy gaze. A sudden chill ran through him, and he finally understood that if he did not agree to her terms, his only option was death.

Wealth was of no use if one was not alive to enjoy it.

"Fine, I’ll help you. Just spare my life."

...

Third Young Master Jun returned to his office, turned on his computer, and started working.

Being naturally cautious, he quickly furrowed his brows.

"Feiyu, come immediately!"

Rushing over hastily, Feiyu could tell something was wrong just by looking at Third Young Master Jun’s grim face.

"Retrieve the activity logs of this computer." Third Young Master Jun coldly commanded, leaning against his leather revolving chair, his eerie eyes filled with frosty determination.

Feiyu’s heart skipped a beat. His fingers flew across the keyboard of the computer and he quickly retrieved the deliberately deleted log files. His face blanched and he abruptly turned to look at Third Young Master Jun.

"Some folders have been opened, and part of their contents have been copied!"

"Print out all the copied files."

Minutes later, all the stolen data were laid out in front of Third Young Master Jun. His grim expressions intensified as he leafed through every single document, his slender eyes, filled with simmering rage.

With a cool, resounding smack, he cast the papers onto the desk.

"Third Young Master, how could you be so careless? You didn’t lock your computer before you left. The company is full of spies targeting us. Someone must have seized the opportunity to tamper with it."

Feiyu was disconcerted. Third Young Master, being such a meticulous man, could never make such an absurd, elementary mistake. This was beyond belief.

Their computers housed many secrets, and to prevent any intrusions, they had implemented several security measures, including a simple but rigorous locking system. By inputting a periodically changed code and a fingerprint, the entire computer could be rendered unusable to others.

Third Young Master had strictly demanded that all his subordinates adhere to this rule, yet he himself had neglected it.

"..." Third Young Master Jun stayed silent.

He had no rebuttals to Feiyu’s accusations—yes, this glaring mistake was his fault.

The day he received her panicked call, his heart clenched. He rushed out of the office without a second thought, completely forgetting to lock his active computer, thus allowing for the breach.

"Who would dare to do this? They’ve stolen your files right under our noses!" Feiyu fretted.

Third Young Master Jun dropped his gaze, "Do we need to guess? Apart from my beloved father, who else would keep a close eye on me?"

Feiyu looked at Third Young Master Jun’s emotionless face with distress. For a father to stoop so low as to snoop on and steal his son’s secrets, Jun Shi was truly repulsive.

"Mr. Jun, what will he do with these files? He probably intends to use them to oust you from the company, doesn’t he?" he asked hesitantly.

"If he plays his cards right, he might even manage to throw me in jail, where I’d be enjoying free meals." The sarcasm in Third Young Master Jun’s hoarse voice was palpable.

Feiyu drew in a sharp breath, incredulity written all over his face, "He is your father, surely he wouldn’t stoop so low?"

"Who knows!"

Third Young Master Jun laughed in self-mockery. To what extent would his father exploit these secrets?

Perhaps he was merely annoyed and wanted to sideline him from the power center of the Jun Family, not to see him again.

Or perhaps, he held a deep-seated grudge against his son and wished to exterminate him.

He would really like to know. Hope lingered in his non-resigned heart, and he found it hard to let go.

Didn’t Ye Lu say that no one could forsake their own flesh and blood?
