"I don’t want to talk, either act or let me go," she said, her voice filled with indifference as she leaned against his chest.

"I thought you had learned your lesson. Apparently not." Third Young Master Jun growled, grabbing her shoulders tightly. He was about to hurl more sarcasm at her when he heard her soft cry of pain and felt dampness under his hand.

He was all too familiar with the smell of blood. His pupils shrank in instant apprehension and he hastily turned on the light.

What met his eyes was a body covered in wounds, as if cruelly pummeled by stones. Bruises, swollen and blotched in purples and greens, mottled her skin. Unwiped blood marked her forehead and the corner of her mouth was swollen.

She was like a pitiful little deer that had been cruelly treated, without a patch of unharmed skin. She didn’t even have the strength to stand, weakly lying in his arms.

Seeing those serious injuries, Third Young Master Jun felt his heart constrict with indignant rage.

"What happened? Who did this to you?" His voice was deep and suppressed with fury, relentlessly studying the skin exposed by her partially unbuttoned clothes.

"Is this you caring about me?" Ye Lu tilted her head slightly.

Third Young Master Jun’s eyes darkened. He forced her to face him, making her meet his gaze.

"And do you need me to care about you?"

His tone seemed both sarcastic and anticipatory. Ye Lu saw the depths of his eyes churning with emotions, but also seeming empty. Her heart trembled and she turned her face away.

Was it her decision? She wanted to be cared for, to be taken care of well, but those who once cared for her either deceived or abandoned her.

So, she dared not hope because if she put her trust in someone only to be deceived again, the pain would be unbearable. She did not want to endure that feeling ever again.

"No, I don’t need anyone’s concern." Ye Lu closed her eyes.

Third Young Master Jun glared at her, his face flushed with anger. This was not the answer he wanted to hear.

He voluntarily wanted to care for her, but this damn woman didn’t give him a chance. He wanted to crush her shoulders to warn her not to say that again.

But seeing her pale face, blood-drained and weary,

and her eyebrows furrowing with pain,

"Hmph, stubborn woman. Serves you right!" He put his arm around her waist, careful to avoid her wounds, and picked her up.

And then strode out of the room.

Ye Lu laid in his arms, trembling slightly. She didn’t know what he was going to do. Was he going to take her somewhere else to continue? She was so tired, she didn’t want to open her eyes.

"Feiyu, call Yan Su, I’ll only give him ten minutes!" He ordered coldly.

Ye Lu was surprised. Was he getting a doctor to treat her?

She looked up at his stern jaw in confusion, as he held her so gently that he barely caused her pain.

She felt a crack of illusion. Was he really caring for her?

Only, how could it be possible? He was the one who treated her the worst.

Feiyu was shocked by Ye Lu’s battered condition.

What shocked Feiyu even more was the barely suppressed anger radiating from the Third Young Master. His eyes sparkled with a hint of deadly fury, utterly unlike his usual calm and haughty demeanor.

It was clear that he was furious, his anger burning sky high.

The one who provoked the normally calm Jun Huang in such a way, who hurt Ye Lu, was surely doomed!

Third Young Master Jun placed Ye Lu on a sickbed. Ye Lu lay on the soft pillows, still looking at him in confusion. Would this man care about her being hurt? The injuries she had suffered before were all his doing.

Or, was it that the sight of her ugly wounds disgusted him and affected his appetite?

It must be so!

Her mind whirled, she heard his voice demanding answers.

"Tell me, who hurt you?"
