My Scheming Little Devil
Chapter 1361: Lending a Helping Hand
Actually, in her heart, she did hope that Ye Lu could be the girl who stood behind Jun Huang, offering him the warmth of a family, but it seemed that was no longer possible.
At this moment, Jun Guanru frowned and glanced around, "Where is Jun Huang? Why isn’t he by your side, helping you?"
Ye Lu stiffened slightly; lately, she had poured all her attention into her work, trying not to think about him because she truly didn’t know how to face it.
So, she’d rather be like a shrinking turtle, not thinking about it, and then she wouldn’t feel at a loss. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"He has other matters to attend to and is not here," she said, lowering her head.
"He has called back to the country, saying he was also in North America. We thought he was with you, but he just left you alone like this, letting you work so hard by yourself. What could be more important than his wife and child? This child is simply... too irresponsible," Jun Guanru said, clearly angered.
Old Madam Jun frowned suddenly and asked, "Did something happen between you two? A fight, perhaps?"
"No."
Despite Ye Lu’s outright denial, both members of the Jun Family felt that her evasive expression clearly indicated some sort of issue.
But seeing her determination, they understood that no more could be asked; however, it seemed that a significant conflict had indeed occurred between Jun Huang and her.
Otherwise, given the personalities of these two children and how deeply Jun Huang loved her, how could he allow her to toil so hard?
Jun Huang, what exactly is the problem?
The person who had informed them to come over spoke ambiguously, but seemed to reveal some ominous information about Jun Huang, which caused them much distress.
"I never expected you to be the daughter of the Hua family, what a surprising identity," Jun Guanru looked at her, his expression tinged with self-mockery, "You’ve known about your identity all along, but you chose to keep it hidden and never revealed it, we thought we treated you well, but clearly you never truly regarded us as your family."
Ye Lu heard some displeasure in his tone and understood his feelings; such an important matter had been kept secret by her, he must be angry, perhaps thinking she was scheming something.
But she had no intention of explaining anything; right now, her effort was to avoid pulling the Jun Family into this complex whirlpool and to prevent them from being targeted by her godfather.
Thus, she simply said, "I’m sorry."
Seeing her such perfunctory attitude, Jun Guanru felt indignant. As an elder who had spoken up, she seemed indifferent and offered no explanation, which greatly disappointed him.
Perhaps she had never been as simple as they had imagined. Especially now, seeing her return to the Hua family in such a short time and stir up a lot of trouble, she exhibited a sharp and formidable presence, no easy target indeed.
In any case, this meeting left both parties feeling estranged, a heavy divide between them.
"Old sir and Old Madam, please return to the country as soon as possible!" Ye Lu said.
"Is this your way of sending us away?" Jun Guanru’s white brows furrowed, clearly angered.
"That’s not my intention, it’s just that the elderly are not in good health, it is better to be in our own country."
"How long we stay is our own choice, this is not for you, as a granddaughter-in-law, to concern yourself with," Jun Guanru finished speaking, only to be pulled by the Old Madam, who urged him not to lose his temper.
She sighed and looked at Ye Lu, "Actually, we came not only to have a look at you and Jun Huang, but also because we heard about the competition between you and Yiren, and we know your situation is not good, so we wanted to help you, to lend a hand with the power of the Jun Group, which could aid you significantly."
