My Scheming Little Devil
Chapter 1354: Ominous Premonition
The Godfather’s brows furrowed tightly; even with his remarkable intelligence, he couldn’t figure out why these three items had become evidence, what connection they had, or what they could prove.
Several subordinates were also baffled by these exhibits, unable to decipher why they were considered evidence—seemingly far too removed from what’s typically associated with solving cases.
"Godfather, do you have any recollection regarding these pieces of evidence?" Mason couldn’t help but ask.
The Godfather shook his head. Even if he had been extremely cautious at the time, it would have been impossible to notice every blade of grass and small item at the crime scene.
Mason, resting his chin on his hand, mused, "That’s strange then. These three items don’t seem to bear any bloodstains, and generally, such objects, if they are to be considered evidence, would feature bloodstains or fingerprints which could be used, through testing, to reveal DNA. But after so long, fingerprints would no longer be present. Then why could they possibly be treated as evidence?"
"Right, the investigation bureau locked it away so securely in a dedicated evidence room, even encased within a safe; here I was, thinking it was some crucial piece of evidence, but it turns out to be these trifles. Is it really necessary to guard them so closely?" Captain Xiao spoke up, unable to contain himself.
Trifles? The Godfather was taken aback then scrutinized those items once again, a flicker of doubt crossing the depths of his eyes.
In truth, he wasn’t sure what these pieces of evidence were, but perhaps it was worth a try.
"Give me the phone." A strange arc formed at the corner of the Godfather’s mouth.
...
Ye Lu and Hua Lunxi followed the investigation bureau’s convoy, rushing to the location indicated by the GPS tracker. The city traffic was heavily congested, and despite their urgency, it took them half an hour to reach the building.
Upon arriving at the site, the investigation bureau’s personnel quickly secured all the exits. But to avoid startling the quarry, they wore plainclothes without closing the exits off, merely monitoring for any suspicious entrants or exiters.
The bureau’s team leader inquired of the building’s manager, "The tracking devices’s signal is approximately located in room x03 on each floor. However, according to the records, only one room is occupied—that’s on the 12th floor. Will you also be going up?"
"No, we must go. It’s extremely important to me; I have to verify it personally," Ye Lu insisted with resolve.
"Then follow behind us."
The team leader, with a contingent of armed personnel, went up first; Ye Lu and his group followed behind.
Upon reaching the 12th floor, it was eerily quiet.
The silence was so unsettling that Ye Lu couldn’t help but tense up, his heart pounding uncontrollably.
The investigation bureau’s operatives were highly professional, cautiously approaching the target room—a group of them wielding guns at the ready to shoot any enemy that resisted.
Then with a fierce kick, they burst through the door, storming inside and shouting: "Freeze, raise your hands!"
Ye Lu only heard a brief commotion before the bureau’s men got the situation under control; the individuals inside appeared to recognize the gravity of the situation and did not resist.
Seeing no danger, Ye Lu and Hua Lunxi hurried into the room.
The room was large, with no particular arrangement—just an ordinary room—and inside it, the bureau’s agents were surrounding several individuals, pointing their guns at their heads.
Those individuals seemed very calm, especially one with a tall and imposing figure, dressed in a black suit, exuding distinction even from the back.
But the sight of this figure caused Ye Lu’s heart to skip a beat, a bad premonition creeping over him before he had time to ponder why the silhouette looked so familiar, as the man turned around just then.
Ye Lu shivered, his complexion turning deathly pale in an instant.
Third Young Master Jun!
