My Scheming Little Devil
Chapter 1292: Conspiracy
She thought that, once she formally returned to the Hua family, she would formally take them to pay homage to their grandfather.
But now, she simply wanted to fulfill her duty as a daughter.
Just that, she brought along an unexpected person, Ying.
This Ying, ever since she hired him, had been inseparable from her—wherever she went, he insisted on following, like a child afraid of being abandoned, very clingy.
Ye Lu felt a bit of a headache coming on, realizing that she might have brought upon herself a big problem.
Because she discovered that Ying was absolutely centered around her world, revolving solely around her—his character was especially peculiar, utterly obedient to her commands, also very well-behaved and attentive, unfailingly focused in his tasks, never distracted.
However, toward others, he was cold, wary, ignoring everyone else completely, harbouring animosity.
His relationship with anyone else in the villa, other than her, was not close.
Ye Lu wished to correct his faults, but she didn’t know how he had been in the past and thus had no idea where to start; she could only guide him step by step. At the very least, he still listened to her, and was obedient to her. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Arriving at the cemetery in the outskirts, it was an overcast day, the weather gloomy, making one’s mood feel oppressed.
Ye Lu saw several trees in front of the tomb, lying on the ground, having been dragged into a pile; the fallen tombstone had already been replaced by a new one. Looking at the familiar yet foreign names on it, she felt a flood of emotions.
Towards this father whom she had never met, yet was of her own flesh and blood, her feelings were extremely complex, with a subtle resentment, profound gratitude, and deep paternal love.
No matter the past, at the very least he acknowledged her existence. Now, this identity further brought her protection and strength; she only hoped that he could see from heaven that she was back, protecting his legacy, continuing his lineage.
"Daddy, I’m back..." Her eyes brimmed with emotion, tinged with a touch of sorrowful tears, as she walked to the tombstone and caressed the name engraved upon it.
Meanwhile, several bodyguards were scattered around the hillside, vigilantly monitoring the surroundings.
Ying, seeing Ye Lu sitting on the grass in front of the tombstone, quietly talking to the person inside, watched her face that was filled with intense kinship and yearning, his eyes becoming confused once more.
Following her these past days, he saw a wide range of emotions within her: happiness, anger, sorrow, and joy, so rich, so vivid, delivering a strong impact to him, and he vaguely understood that humans could harbor so many emotions.
But why couldn’t he ever feel happiness, anger, sorrow, or joy? Why did he never possess such feelings?
He began to not understand why he was so different from her, and from others as well.
Of course, no matter what, he still couldn’t comprehend it.
He simply couldn’t be bothered to think about it anymore; as long as someone continuously commanded him on what to do, then he felt perfectly content, proving that his existence was not entirely meaningless, not trash.
Ying shifted his gaze, his eyes landing on the collapsed trees, suddenly expressing a puzzled look.
He walked over, carefully inspecting the trees uprooted by a tornado, his usually bewildered eyes instantly focusing sharply, bright as lamps, gleaming with a keen and alert clarity.
Pale fingers brushed over the roots of the trees, the uneven roots scraping against his palm.
Then he stood up again, approached the tombstone, where several trees once stood, which now became three muddy pits. He squatted in front of the pits, stared for a long time, his calm presence gradually enveloped by an intense chill, emitting waves of a faintly murderous aura.
"These trees were not knocked down by the tornado."
