My Scheming Little Devil
Chapter 1263: No Farewell
"Fine, I’ll leave!" She looked at him with tears in her eyes.
Then, two hours later, she set off alone with some luggage, continuing on her way by herself.
She didn’t dare to look back, for fear that if she did, she would no longer be able to move forward.
Between them, there was no farewell, not even a goodbye said, they had remained silent since she agreed, not a single word was exchanged.
She was also afraid of farewells, afraid that once farewells were had, she might never see him again.
Who would have thought that, of those who came together, she would be the only one to walk out of this place; yet she still kept going, all the way to the end of the road.
Ye Lu covered her mouth, her eyes blurred, but she swallowed back her tears.
This was her promise to him, that no matter how difficult, she would accomplish it.
She looked up at the clear, azure sky, at the vast sunshine, simply hoping that heaven would leave her a sliver of hope, not be utterly cruel.
Isn’t there a saying that true love will eventually lead to union? Could that all just be a lie? Why not give the people in love a bit more hope.
She left him half of the food, boiled enough water for several days, and also left him a gun and most of the bullets.
She didn’t know if it would be useful; it was all she could do. It was his lifeline, and she would never give up!
Scaling mountains and fording streams, she crossed one forest after another.
Ye Lu was tireless because her heart was filled with an urgent desire to survive, filled with determination to save him, so she felt strength in her entire body. On the quiet road, she marched on, never having been so tenacious, just wishing to step out of this place sooner.
Ye Lu gazed into the distance, calculating time and distance in her mind. They had already passed through the deepest parts of the forest, and now they had reached the outskirts.
No more dense forests, only flatland and jungle with much broader vista, which made the journey significantly easier. Thank goodness, otherwise, she really didn’t know if she, alone and isolated, could have made it out.
Walking until night fell, Ye Lu dared not continue, and she was very tired, although she had been taking rests intermittently all along, it was still exhausting.
And now, without Third Young Master Jun, she had to manage everything on her own.
Ye Lu found an open space, pitched the tent herself, spread insect and snake repellent powder, made fire, and boiled water—all things Third Young Master Jun had carefully explained to her the night before, about how to find water sources, how to make fire, and how to prevent snake and insect attacks.
She had listened intently last night, thinking that she would need to care for him from then on, thus she paid extra attention. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
But she didn’t expect that he had already made up his mind to force her to leave last night, and so he taught her everything.
Lighting the gas canister, she boiled noodles in a small pot. Taking out the noodles, Ye Lu’s eyes dimmed. Normally she would cook for two people, but now she could only cook for one; she was indeed left on her own.
After eating the noodles, sitting on a rock, she looked at the moonlight, listened to the sound of wind passing through the trees, bringing with it a desolate chill, and the din of insects.
Ye Lu hugged her knees, even though it had been just the two of them in the woods these few days, with him by her side, she had never been frightened, feeling a sense of deep comfort and security.
Now she felt truly lonely, staring at the bright moonlight shining through the trees, her gaze fixed.
Is he also watching the moon right now? Even though they’re far apart, are they still looking at the same moon?
"Jun Huang, are you still awake? You must stay awake, don’t pass out, I will find someone to save you. Please, no matter what, hang in there!"
