Chapter 126: The elders landed

The silence that followed the dragon general’s mocking laughter was absolute. Not a single human dared to breathe too loudly. The pressure from the four vessels above had grown so dense that the air itself felt like liquid, pressing against every surface, every lung, every heart.

Alex stood motionless, his face unreadable.

The dragon general, whose name he had learned was Kragen, continued to sneer. "What? No clever response? No spatial tricks? Your power means nothing before our elders."

Alex did not look at him. His gaze remained fixed on the vessels above, watching as the first of the elders began to descend.

The dragon vessel’s hull split open along invisible seams, and a figure stepped out onto empty air as if descending invisible stairs. He was massive, easily three meters tall, with scales of deep gold that shimmered with internal fire. His eyes were vertical slits of molten bronze, and when he opened his mouth to speak, smoke curled from between his teeth.

Behind him, the phoenix vessel released its passenger. She descended on wings of living flame that left trails of heat shimmer in the atmosphere. Her form was slender but radiated an intensity that made the ground beneath her crack from thermal stress. Her feathers were the color of dying stars, white hot at the core and bleeding into deep crimson at the edges. Her eyes held no pupils, only glowing orbs of continuous combustion.

The vampire vessel opened like a flower blooming in reverse, its shadow petals peeling back to reveal a figure wrapped in darkness so complete that his features were barely distinguishable. He moved without sound, without vibration, without any indication that he obeyed the laws of physics. When he smiled, his teeth were the only visible thing, rows of perfect white that seemed to float in the void of his face.

The werewolf vessel simply cracked open. No elegance, no ceremony. The hull split down the middle, and a beast the size of a small building stepped through the gap. His fur was matted with the blood of countless battles, and his muscles moved beneath his hide like serpents coiling and uncoiling. His snout wrinkled, revealing fangs that could tear through dimensional barriers.

The four elders landed on the battlefield, each one reshaping the environment around them simply by existing. The ground beneath Ao Di turned to glass. The air around the phoenix elder ignited. Shadows lengthened and twisted near the vampire. The werewolf’s gravity field made rubble float upward.

Kragen, the dragon general, immediately dropped to one knee. "Elder Ao Di. The human you see before you, is the one who disrupted our operations. He single handedly defeated our advance forces and restrained the survivors."

Ao Di’s molten eyes shifted to Alex. He studied him for a long moment, then made a dismissive sound. "Star level aura. Impressive for a human, but meaningless in the grand scheme."

The vampire elder glided forward. His voice was silk wrapped around steel. "The prime world. Confirm it for me."

One of the surviving vampires, the elder who had spoken earlier, stepped forward and bowed deeply. "Elder Valthor, I have personally verified the readings. This planet’s origin coefficient matches prime world specifications. The ancient humans provided the initial data, and our own analysis confirmed it."

The phoenix elder tilted her head, her flames crackling. "And the human who caused all this? The one who killed so many of our warriors?"

Another survivor, a phoenix soldier whose wings had been singed by Alex’s spatial attacks, pointed a trembling finger at Alex. "Him, Elder Solaris. He used spatial manipulation beyond anything we have recorded from humans. He claimed to be from this planet, but his power level is anomalous." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Solaris’s burning eyes narrowed. "Anomalous how?"

"He should not exist," the soldier said simply.

The werewolf elder let out a rumbling growl that vibrated through the ground. "Enough talk. The planet is ours. The humans are nothing. Let us finish this."

But before anyone could move, the vampire prince who had been among the survivors stepped forward. His name was Lysander, and despite his battered condition, his eyes held a gleam of desperate ambition.

"Elder Valthor," Lysander said, his voice urgent. "Before we proceed, I must inform you of something I discovered during the time."

Valthor’s shadowy form turned toward the prince. "Speak."

Lysander raised his arm and pointed toward a corner of the battlefield where the remaining human survivors had gathered. Among them stood a man in his forties, worn but composed, his features carrying a resemblance to Alex that could not be mistaken.

"That man," Lysander said. "Noah Moriarty. He carries the blood resonance of the progenitor."

The effect was immediate.

Valthor’s form solidified from shadow into something more concrete, more present. His eyes, previously hidden in darkness, became visible. They were deep red, ancient, and now fixed entirely on Noah.

"Blood resonance?" Valthor’s voice lost its silk and gained an edge of hunger. "You are certain?"

"Yes," Lysander said. "When I attempted to drain him, my own blood recoiled. It recognized something older. Something that should not exist in a human."

Valthor’s gaze swept over Noah with an intensity that made the air between them grow cold. Noah stood his ground, though his jaw was clenched and his hands were fists at his sides.

The vampire elder turned to the other elders. His voice carried a note of finality.

"I want that man only. You can keep the prime planet share."

Ao Di’s molten eyes flickered with curiosity. "What is so special about one human that you would forfeit claim to a prime world?"

Valthor’s smile was thin and dangerous. "That is vampire business. Do you agree to the terms?"

The dragon elder exchanged glances with Solaris and the werewolf elder, whose name Alex’s panel identified as Garruk. A silent conversation passed between them, calculations of value and power.

"Very well then," Ao Di said calmly. "You can have that human."

Before Valthor could move, a new figure rushed across the battlefield. Elizabeth, Alex’s mother, had arrived with the others who had been hiding in the reinforced shelters. She ran straight to Noah and threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly.

"Noah," she whispered, her voice breaking. "What is happening? The pressure alone, I can feel it. This is not a normal invasion. This is annihilation."

Noah wrapped his arms around her. "I know. I know."

Elizabeth looked around at the four elders, at the vessels still hovering above, at the defeated human forces scattered across the ground. Tears streamed down her face, but she did not sob. She simply held her husband tighter.

"We survived the trial for this," she said quietly. "We fought so hard, and for what?"

Noah had no answer.

Across the battlefield, the dragon elder Ao Di turned his attention back to Alex. His mocking tone returned, dripping with condescension.

"You have potential. How about you join our race? Of course as a servant, but a good quality one."

The words hung in the air. Several humans nearby gasped, not at the offer, but at the insult disguised within it. A servant. After everything Alex had done, after he had single handedly defeated their advance forces, they offered him servitude.

Alex did not reply.

His face remained blank, his eyes fixed on the elder with an expression that could have been patience or could have been something far more dangerous.

Ao Di’s smile widened. "Oh? Not interested? Then I suppose you shall die along with your people."

Alex glanced at his panel one more time, though he had already memorized the information.

[Name: Ao Di (Dragon)

Talent: Fire and Light Manipulation (God)

Rank: Galactic Level 9]

The other elders were similarly ranked. Valthor, the vampire elder, was Galactic Level 8. Solaris, the phoenix elder, was Galactic Level 9 as well. Garruk, the werewolf elder, was Galactic Level 7 but with physical augmentation that likely closed the gap.

Against such beings, a Star Level human like Alex should have been nothing.

And yet Alex showed no fear.

Before anyone could speak again, a new sound emerged from the distance. Footsteps. Many footsteps. Thousands of them, approaching in disciplined formation.

Alex turned his head slightly.

He knew them.

The ancient humans.

But this time, they were not alone. At the front of their formation walked a figure that Alex had not seen before. Tall, regal, with silver hair that flowed behind him like a banner. His eyes were sharp and calculating, and the aura emanating from his body was far stronger than any ancient human Alex had encountered.

Alex activated his analysis.

[Name: Victor August (Immortal Human)

Martial Soul: Dragon Vine (Primordial Grade)

Rank: Star Level 9]

He had a powerful martial soul.

And more importantly, the label said Immortal Human, not Ancient Human. Victor August was not from Earth. He was from the greater immortal human race that existed among the stars.

The group of ancient humans, nearly a thousand strong, marched across the battlefield and stopped before the four elders. Victor stepped forward, and to the shock of every human watching from home, he bowed deeply.

"We are willing to serve the mighty dragon race," Victor said, his voice carrying across the silent battlefield.
