My Goblin System : Levelling up with my SSS Class Devouring skill
Chapter 414
"Kael’shiva, status report. When will the heroes return to Third Line?"
Kael’shiva looked at her sixty-eight remaining companions—all burning their life force, all aging rapidly, all dying slowly to maintain the defensive network just a few seconds longer.
She looked at the four heroes preparing attacks that would annihilate them all in one overwhelming strike.
She understood with absolute clarity that they had seconds remaining. The battle was over. They’d bought all the time they possibly could.
Through Seraphina’s connection, she felt her master’s presence—the demon lord who’d trained them, taught them, trusted them with knowledge and power and purpose.
And she knew what she had to do.
The network connected all sixty-nine specialists’ minds. Kael’shiva broadcasted to all of them simultaneously:
"Pattern Seven. Final protocol. We deny them the victory. We die on our terms. We take them with us if possible. We make our deaths matter."
Understanding flowed through the network. Every specialist knew Pattern Seven—the forbidden Combined Detonation spell. The suicide technique that converted all casters’ life force into one massive explosion.
They’d avoided using it earlier because they’d hoped to survive. Hoped to delay the heroes long enough, then escape.
But now, with the heroes preparing overwhelming final attack, with Elric ordering their immediate elimination, with no hope remaining...
Pattern Seven was the last weapon they had.
Sixty-nine voices responded through the network: "Confirmed. Pattern Seven. We die together. We take them with us."
Kael’shiva reached back through Seraphina’s telepathic connection, knowing this would be her final communication with her master.
She spoke three words that carried all her grief, her loyalty, her love for the demon lord who’d given her purpose:
"I am sorry, Master."
Then she severed the connection and activated Pattern Seven.

All sixty-nine corruption specialists released their life force simultaneously.
Not slowly like they’d been doing to power the Corruption Maelstrom. Instantly. Complete conversion of living beings into pure explosive energy in one microsecond.
The detonation began at the molecular level—each specialist’s body breaking down into component atoms, those atoms converting directly to energy following demonic magical principles.
Sixty-nine mages. Centuries of accumulated power. Decades of life force.
All released at once.
The explosion that resulted defied normal description.
It started as a pinpoint of purple-black light at the formation’s center. For one microsecond, that pinpoint contained more energy than a falling star.
Then it expanded.
The shockwave moved at supersonic speed, a wall of corruption-infused explosive force expanding outward in a perfect sphere.
The heroes had one-tenth of a second to react.
"BARRIER!" Mikazelle screamed, her spatial manipulation creating the strongest dimensional barrier she’d ever constructed—a layered shield of warped space designed to deflect physical and magical attacks.
"SANCTUARY!" Seraphelle cast her ultimate defensive spell—Divine Sanctuary at maximum power, a golden dome of pure holy protection surrounding all four heroes.
"VILLAIN’S BANE - FULL SUPPRESSION!" Gattychan channeled every ounce of his divine power into his ability, trying to reduce the detonation’s demonic energy to one-tenth effectiveness even as it exploded.
Rindelle simply dove behind Gattychan’s larger body, trusting her companions’ defensive abilities.
The explosion hit the heroes’ combined defenses.
For three seconds, the battle was between apocalyptic corruption magic and layered divine protection.
Mikazelle’s dimensional barrier held for one second, absorbing the initial shockwave. Then it shattered, spatial warping collapsing under the overwhelming force.
Seraphelle’s Divine Sanctuary held for two seconds, golden light blazing against purple-black corruption. Then it cracked, holy magic insufficient against sixty-nine lives converted to explosive power.
Gattychan’s Villain’s Bane reduced the explosion to one-tenth effectiveness, but even one-tenth of this magnitude was devastating.
The shockwave hit the heroes directly.
All four were thrown backward like leaves in a hurricane. They flew three hundred yards before hitting the ground, tumbling, their bodies protected by divine power but still suffering catastrophic impact trauma.
Gattychan’s armor shattered completely. His blessed sword flew from his hand. His body was burned, bruised, broken in a dozen places.
Seraphelle’s divine protection had channeled most damage away from her, but even she was bleeding from nose and ears, her magic disrupted severely.
Mikazelle’s spatial manipulation was completely offline, her connection to dimensional magic severed temporarily by the trauma.
Rindelle had fared best by being behind Gattychan, but she still had a broken arm—her previously healed arm re-broken by the impact—and multiple fractured ribs. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
The four heroes lay in the grass three hundred yards from the detonation center, all critically wounded, all alive but barely combat-effective.

At Third Line, half a mile away, every soldier and defender felt the explosion.
The ground shook like earthquake. The air pressure changed dramatically, creating a thunderclap that echoed across the battlefield. Dust and debris flew from the shockwave’s edge.
Human soldiers stopped fighting, looking toward the distant field where a massive mushroom cloud of purple-black smoke rose into the sky.
Settlement defenders paused, staring at the apocalyptic explosion, wondering what had caused it.
Commander Elric, from his elevated position, watched the mushroom cloud rise and felt ice in his veins.
"What in the Light’s name was that?" he demanded of his remaining officers.
"Unknown, sir! Massive explosion approximately half a mile from Third Line! The field where the heroes were hunting corruption specialists!"
"Are the heroes—"
"Unknown, sir! We’ve lost magical communication! Either they’re dead or their communication crystals are damaged!"
Elric stared at the mushroom cloud, his tactical mind racing through implications.
If the heroes were dead—killed by whatever that explosion was—the entire strategic situation changed drastically. Without heroes, the Church army had no effective counter against demon lord level threats, that’s the fact and the truth that Commander Elric hates to admit..
But if the heroes survived...
He waited, watching, hoping.

At the settlement’s command post, Seraphina was still maintaining her telepathic connection to the corruption specialists when Kael’shiva spoke those final words:
"I am sorry, Master."
Then the connection severed.
Not gradually. Not with warning.
Instantly. All sixty-nine connections—every single remaining corruption specialist—extinguished simultaneously like candles in a hurricane.
They were gone.
All of them.
Two hundred of her people that she brought as reinforcement dead in total.
