Chapter 670: Chapter 375: Two Restricted Levels, The Century-Long Pact

Ji Minghuan followed behind Restricted-level 1001.

The two similar figures walked slowly down the endless corridor, one behind the other. With each step they took, ripples would spread across the transparent floor, flowing towards some unknown distance, silently converging once again.

Ji Minghuan turned his head, glancing around the surroundings. The walls on either side of the corridor resembled cinema screens.

At this moment, 1001’s memory images were switching chaotically on the screens, and after wandering down this hallway for a long time, one would feel a sense of traversing the long river of time.

"Fortunately, I didn’t travel to a year too distant. When I came to my senses, I found myself in 1910. It was an unfamiliar world to me. By then, I had lost all my memories, only retaining the image of a white-haired girl in my mind."

Restricted-level 1001 spoke softly, as the memory corridor transformed with his words.

It was a vast white glacier, with a young man walking alone on it. The surface of the lake reflected the shadow of a white-haired girl. But as soon as he turned his gaze, the shadow on the lake disappeared along with the rippling waves.

"I don’t know who she is, nor where she is. But whenever I’m about to forget her, that shadow always appears in my dreams." Restricted-level 1001 continued, "Sometimes she seems like a dandelion reflected on the lake surface, but when I look up, she’s already gone, carried away by the wind."

"You speak like a poet," Ji Minghuan said nonchalantly. "Haha, if I ever become as literary as you, I’d really need to find a place to bury myself."

"Unfortunately, you’re a Restricted-level, so you can’t even die if you wanted to."

"Is that so? Have you tried?"

"Tried many times."

Restricted-level 1001 suddenly fell silent for a moment, as if he wanted to say more on the subject but didn’t continue.

"When?" Ji Minghuan asked.

"When else?" Restricted-level 1001 replied, "After Earth’s destruction."

Ji Minghuan was silent for a moment. "Why did you fail? If others can’t kill me, surely I can kill myself, right? Can a Restricted-level be that exaggerated?"

Restricted-level 1001 shook his head, apparently unwilling to answer the question.

"Oh right..." Restricted-level 1001 suddenly said, "In 1916, Germany was at war, and I met a very special girl on the battlefield." As he finished speaking, the scenes on the time corridor changed again, transforming into a world clad in silver and snow.

The young man walked alone in the snow-covered town, moving against the fleeing crowd. Then he arrived at the mountaintop, overlooking the battlefield ablaze amidst the snowy landscape.

At this moment, he saw a girl curled up in the trench, her body covered in wounds. She slightly raised her head, her empty gaze fixed on the bodies piled in the trench, her lips moving as if murmuring something.

Ji Minghuan gazed at the blood-soaked girl from the memory, her features almost unrecognizable. What he saw was only a mass of human flesh, even exposing bones in some places.

Restricted-level 1001 spoke softly, "Looks familiar, doesn’t it?"

"You’ve got a sense of humor," Ji Minghuan said, though he had already guessed who the girl reduced to a mass of blood and flesh was.

"The girl had no name..." Restricted-level 1001 said, "But I gave her one back then."

As his voice fell, the scenes on the time corridor shifted again, turning into the top of a snow-capped mountain. On the vast expanse of the snowy plain, the boy carried the girl, trudging through the endless whiteness, leaving behind a trail of uneven footprints.

Then the boy on the screen suddenly spoke, breaking the silence of the snowstorm.

"Tricia..." the boy said softly, "That’s the name I gave you, thought of it during a hunt a few days ago, but never told you."

"It’s beautiful," the girl said. "So I’ll be called Tricia from now on?"

"Yes."

The boy and girl walked across what seemed like an endless snowy plain, and Ji Minghuan watched this scene in a daze.

Just as Restricted-level 1001 had said, he recognized the girl’s face, with her light golden hair and slightly upturned eyes. Without a doubt, such a person existed in Ji Minghuan’s memory.

"Bloodline."

Ji Minghuan uttered the name, his voice unwavering.

"Yes... from you, I learned she had been searching for me for a long time, but I couldn’t meet her." Restricted-level 1001 said, stepping forward without looking back, "Maybe you can pass on the message for me, tell her not to look for me anymore."

"Oh."

Ji Minghuan nodded, silently following behind Restricted-level 1001.

"In 1916, the Salvation Society had been targeting me for a while, and Restricted-level 1001 was the name they assigned to me." Restricted-level 1001 said, "Tricia couldn’t stay with me, or she would be drawn in."

"Didn’t you inherit the ’immortality’ of the fourth generation immortal, and carry two Mythical-level Curiosities Fragment? The cost of time jumping is probably not retrieving all the superpowers you stole." Ji Minghuan asked, "By all rights, the Salvation Society shouldn’t be a match for you, so why not take her with you?"

"Because I can protect myself. But I can’t necessarily protect those around me... people are fragile, in every sense." Restricted-level 1001 said softly.

"That’s true." Ji Minghuan laughed lightly.

Restricted-level 1001 was silent for a moment. "The Salvation Society pursued me for ten years, and in the end, I chose to fake my death in front of them, making them believe it to be true. They declared to the world the appearance of the first Restricted-level, and simultaneously, the death of the first Restricted-level.
