Chapter 650 - 369: Old Friends, Reunion, Hunting the Seven Deadly Sins
"If 1001 were really alive, they’d be at least one or two hundred years old by now, not some little boy," the Bloodline retorted.
"Heh, all I know is that the kid in the hospital gown at the London bar looked younger than me," the Hacker mocked, "Come on, old lady, just admit your peculiar tastes."
"Actually, the boy did seem younger than 1001, but they looked remarkably alike," the Bloodline pondered for a moment, "I’m not sure if it’s him, but people don’t grow backward, do they?"
"And you still want me to investigate?" the Hacker squinted.
"Better to check it out than not," the Bloodline said, "Even if I don’t ask you to investigate, the Captain will, don’t you think?"
"Come on, the Salvation Society is not that easy to investigate, the Captain only found out about this organization recently. I’m unsure if probing further won’t get us into trouble..." the Hacker said exasperatedly, "But that organization is connected to the Captain’s sister, Uncle Bai’s son, and your 1001, so not investigating isn’t an option."
"Just do your job as an electronic pet and spare me the complaints," Yanmo Lin said coldly, fitting the sword sheath into a tennis bag and slinging it over her shoulder.
"Did you hear that? Electronic pet."
Xia Pingzhou took a bite of his cookie and casually agreed.
"Okay, okay." the Hacker grumbled lethargically, "Now even those cat Casanovas have higher status in the troupe than me. I’d like to see what you all would do without me."
"Stop whining," the Bloodline teased, patting him on the head, "Let’s go, the Captain’s waiting for us."
They soon got off the train, leaving the quaint station, and waded through the bustling crowd, then walked along the mountainside street. The sunset rolled in like tides, casting a golden glow over the entire street.
Along the way, the Bloodline shared some blasphemous jokes, while Yanmo Lin cradled the sword sheath, listening with a blank stare at the sea, and the Hacker quietly fiddled with his phone.
Meanwhile, Xia Pingzhou and the young lady bought some street snacks, sharing between themselves.
A short while later, they stopped in front of a secluded antique shop. Looking up, they saw a faded sign, "Old Wu Antiques Shop."
"Is the Captain inside?" Xia Pingzhou asked casually.
"Yes, by the way, the Captain’s Celestial Driver has also reached Tier Three," the Hacker said, "Fancy a match against the Captain, cat Casanova?"
"Sorry, I’m busy." Xia Pingzhou replied slowly, "Besides, the Captain isn’t just an Exorcist, he’s also a Superpower User. His superpowers really counter mine. If he promises not to use them, I might humor him a bit, otherwise, it’s not fair at all."
"Heh, you’re pretty funny. The superpower is part of the Captain’s abilities, why should he not use them?" the Hacker asked.
Oh, then I’ll have to use my Event Card, Xia Pingzhou thought.
"This place looks so old-fashioned," the Bloodline shrugged, "I’ve never been interested in antique shops and such." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"Not interested because you’re an antique yourself?" Xia Pingzhou asked, expressionless.
"Well said, cat," Ayase Origami yawned, expressionless.
"Seems you’ve been well-disciplined, some cats really want to be neutered," the Vampire Maiden smiled, though black lines appeared on her forehead.
"Can you all stop with the pointless chatter?" Yanmo Lin said coldly, crossing her arms.
Xia Pingzhou and the others exchanged looks, then silently pushed the door open and entered.
At that moment, the ropes tied to the ceiling swayed, and the masks hanging from them began to jostle. A distant copper bell chimed, shattering the silence.
He raised his eyebrows and withdrew his gaze from the masks on the rope, looking around.
The shop was dim, lit only by the faint, dusty light trickling in through a grimy small window.
Three wooden shelves stood against the wall, bearing the marks of time, their varnish slightly peeling. On the top layer were several bronze items: incense burners, Buddha statues... the second layer was crammed with scrolls of varying thickness. The bottom row was a pile of blue and white porcelain bowls stacked like a small mountain, the scratches clearly visible.
The owner of this antique shop was absent. In his place, a young man in a black trench coat leaned against the counter, playing with a piece of porcelain with one hand and sipping hot tea with the other, adapting well to the locale.
"You’re late..." Urushibara Osamu said without looking up.
"Couldn’t be helped, the train was delayed," the Hacker stepped over the threshold and walked inside, "Captain, what about Anluns and the others?"
"Anluns and Tong Zizhu have already left, they’re at the inn," Urushibara Osamu placed down the palm-sized porcelain piece and picked up an ancient book from the counter.
"That Zhou Jiuya is in this city now, right?" the Bloodline said, "When are we going to find him for some fun?"
"No rush, not today," Urushibara Osamu shook his head.
"By the way, Captain," Xia Pingzhou spoke up, "Since the operation hasn’t started, I’d like to request something."
Hearing this, Urushibara Osamu slowly lifted his deep, sunken eyes, looked at Xia Pingzhou, and after a moment’s silence, "What is it?"
Yanmo Lin, leaning against the wall with the sword sheath, spoke in his place, "He has slain a Catastrophe Level demon today, and his Celestial Driver has advanced to Tier Three; he now lacks a Contracted Demon."
"It’s Tier Three..."
Urushibara Osamu whispered softly, a barely noticeable trace of surprise flickering in his eyes. After a moment, he asked, "And then?"
Just as Xia Pingzhou was about to speak, the Hacker suddenly explained:
