My Apocalypse System Arrives 10 Years Early
Chapter 189 - 148: The French-Door Fridge
Several of Li Xiang’s top fans also sent gifts.
He Zhixiang happened to be on a business trip in Sichuan Province, so he dropped by to congratulate him. He brought a set of silver tableware—chopsticks, plates, bowls, spoons, and the like—along with two bottles of high-end red wine. He also gave a cash gift of 6,000 yuan.
He had originally intended to ask Li Xiang about doing another sales livestream from the coffee plantation, but Li Xiang was too busy, so he held off on mentioning it. He figured he would bring it up on the phone later. After all, they were old friends, so there was no need to worry about future collaborations.
Li Xiang was swamped, and He Zhixiang had matters to attend to in the afternoon, so after lunch, he said a quick goodbye to Li Xiang and departed.
"Sorry I couldn’t be a better host, brother," Li Xiang said, a bit apologetically.
"Hey, we’re good friends. Don’t talk like that. It makes things awkward."
Li Xiang saw He Zhixiang to his car and waved goodbye. He was a die-hard fan who had supported him wholeheartedly back when he was a nobody. He was truly an old friend.
Xu Xuan didn’t come in person, but he had sent a gift a few days in advance: a set of exquisitely crafted decorative pieces called "Five Blessings at the Door," as well as a piece of calligraphy that was quaint and full of Zen-like tranquility.
Top Aunt, of course, didn’t come in person either. Using the name "Pan Yiwen," she had an embroidery couriered over. It was a depiction of the "Thousand-Mile River and Mountain Painting." The design was beautiful, the needlework meticulous, the stitches lively, and the colors elegant. It looked like it had to be Su Embroidery, one of the Four Great Embroideries of China.
What was especially remarkable was that the name "Pan Yiwen" was embroidered in the signature space. Li Xiang wondered, ’Could Aunt Pan have embroidered this herself? That must have taken ages.’
In reality, that wasn’t the case. On the Su Embroidery, only the name "Pan Yiwen" was stitched by Luo Feifei herself. The rest had been custom-commissioned from a master artisan for a hefty price. Even so, it was an incredibly precious gesture. After all, as a popular young starlet, she was simply too busy.
It was just that Li Xiang didn’t know any better. If he knew anything about Su Embroidery, he would have noticed that the needlework on the name "Pan Yiwen" was comparatively "amateurish" compared to the rest of the piece.
But Luo Feifei had been very diligent when she learned, and her stitching was still quite skillful, so the average person wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Both Xu Xuan’s and Luo Feifei’s gifts were very valuable. They had both used SF Express for home delivery.
For one, the items were expensive. For another, SF Express had a partnership with Li Xiang and was scheduled to come by for pickups anyway.
This was because Eternal Night Media was now fully operational. Its contracted streamers had to go live every few days, primarily selling agricultural products, red wine, and tea.
The National Style Tavern and teahouse had yet to open—they were still under construction, in fact—but they had already contacted numerous suppliers and stockpiled some goods. Everything was currently stored in the cellar beneath Li Xiang’s kitchen, and this was the inventory Yao Yao, Zhao Xueqing, and Lei Xiaohui sold during their livestreams.
The sales on their own accounts weren’t huge, but when they went live on Li Xiang’s account, the volume of transactions was quite impressive. Sometimes Li Xiang would join in, and other times he’d let them run the show entirely on their own.
Sometimes the three women would stream together, and other times they would take turns going live.
All good things must come to an end. The lively, bustling day passed quickly, and as night fell, Li Xiang’s home returned to its usual tranquility.
Although the new house was fully decorated and they hadn’t used many materials containing formaldehyde, Li Xiang still decided to let it air out for a while. His grandmother would continue to sleep in the utility room off the kitchen, while Li Xiang himself pitched a tent on the large second-floor terrace. The weather was mild now that spring had arrived, so it wasn’t very cold. And even if it were, as an Extraordinary Being, he wasn’t the least bit afraid.
He unzipped the top of the tent, and a sky full of countless stars came into view—a sight you could never enjoy in the big city. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Although he had a Night Vision Superpower, he could switch it on and off at will. He used it when he needed it, and when he didn’t, his vision was no different from that of a normal person.
Full of excess energy and unable to sleep, Li Xiang began his Cultivation. He practiced his Breathing Technique, complemented by his unique Body Techniques, moving about on the large terrace.
His steps were sometimes light, sometimes heavy, and his breathing followed a strange rhythm. Many of his movements, if you looked closely, resembled the postures of an old farmer tilling a field. Yet, they weren’t crude; instead, they possessed an ineffable beauty.
A union of hard and soft, a harmony of yin and yang.
After practicing for over two hours, Li Xiang went downstairs and grabbed a can of beer from the first-floor refrigerator. He had already steeped a new batch of Spirit Wine and refilled his gourd, but he was getting a little tired of constantly drinking the Medicinal Wine. A beer once in a while was a nice change of pace.
The beer was leftover from the party. The catering team had provided the food but not the beverages, so Li Xiang had bought plenty himself. He still had several cases of baijiu, over a dozen cases of beer, and lots of juice left. All of it was unopened.
Any opened and unfinished bottles of beer and juice had been poured out. When the party ended, Li Xiang had let the villagers take some of the half-empty bottles of baijiu, but there were still a few left, which he would just have to finish himself over time.
The old refrigerator he’d bought when he first came home was still in the kitchen. The new one on the first floor of the house was a French-door model the three girls had helped him pick out. It had double doors on top and two large drawers on the bottom, with a massive capacity. You could fit large seafood like a king crab in it, no problem—you could probably even fit a whole sheep inside.
It also came with a small built-in ice maker. You just had to add purified water to the dispenser in the refrigerator section, and it would automatically produce uniform ice cubes in a dedicated bin in the freezer below.
The only thing was, during the ice-making process, cubes would occasionally drop down, a bit like a hen laying an egg, making it slightly noisy. Of course, the sound was actually very faint; a normal person would only hear it if they were right next to the refrigerator. But Li Xiang was an Extraordinary Being with exceptionally sharp hearing—he could pick up on the slightest sound.
