Chapter 739: It’s Time

After traveling for a few minutes, Gui Di spotted the Feng Army’s temporary camp outside the imperial capital of the Yu Empire.

Landing just outside the camp, he released Bao Shengjie’s shoulder and said, "We have arrived."

Standing on the ground, Bai Hanyun felt her stomach churn. Holding back the urge to vomit, she nodded, her face pale.

Just as Gui Di was about to leave, he suddenly sensed a fluctuation of spiritual energy coming from one of the tents. Frowning slightly, he changed his mind and said, "Fairy Bai, let me accompany you inside."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun nodded and walked toward the soldiers guarding the entrance.

When the two soldiers saw her approaching, they couldn’t believe their eyes.

Before they could react, Bai Hanyun waved and asked, "Brothers, is Feng Xiyan here? Can you inform him about my arrival?"

Snapped out of their shock, the soldiers stared at her, frozen in their places.

Just as Bai Hanyun thought they wouldn’t answer, one of them suddenly turned and ran away while shouting excitedly, "Fairy Bai has returned! Quick! Inform the generals!"

Startled by the sudden shout, Bai Hanyun took a step back.

The other soldier looked at her, then suddenly dropped to his knees. Clasping his fists, he said tearfully, "Fairy Bai, please... Please save the Great General. He... he..."

The moment Bai Hanyun heard this, she grabbed the soldier’s shoulder and asked anxiously, "What’s wrong with Feng Xiyan?! Tell me!"

The soldier wiped his tears with the back of his hand and stood up. "Fairy Bai, there is no time to explain. Please come with this subordinate."

Without giving her time to react, he grabbed her sleeve and pulled her along.

Realizing the urgency in the soldier’s tone, Hua Yuyu and the others followed them without saying a word.

With the soldier leading the way, Bai Hanyun, Gui Di, and the others rushed into the camp. Before long, they arrived at the commander’s tent.

Lifting the tent flap, the soldier stepped inside and quickly clasped his fists toward Wu Ruizhan and the other generals.

"Report! Fairy Bai has returned!"

The moment his words fell, Wu Ruizhan and the others turned around as hope ignited in their gloomy eyes.

Seeing Bai Hanyun enter with Hua Yuyu and the others, Zhan Qi’s tears finally fell. He rushed forward, grabbed her hand, and pulled her toward the bed.

"Fairy Bai, please save the Great General. He—"

Zhan Qi couldn’t finish his sentence, but Bai Hanyun had already seen Feng Xiyan lying unconscious on the bed, so thin he was little more than skin and bones.

The moment she saw his condition, she staggered in disbelief.

Fortunately, Hua Yuyu reacted quickly and caught her before she fell.

After a brief moment of shock, Bai Hanyun quickly knelt beside the bed. Staring at his bloodless face, she reached out with trembling fingers to touch his sunken cheek.

As tears streamed down her face, she whispered in anguish, "Feng Xiyan... What happened to you? Feng Xiyan, wake up..."

While Bai Hanyun called out to Feng Xiyan, Gui Di stepped forward. Unlike the others, he saw not only Feng Xiyan, but also the black mist cocooning his body and tainting the air.

Scanning the room, Gui Di realized no one else could see the black mist. After a brief hesitation, he asked, "Can any of you tell me when he became like this?"

Hearing this, Wu Ruizhan replied gloomily, "The Great General’s condition worsened after we took over the Jin Empire. He couldn’t eat or sleep. After he killed Wen Kang, he suddenly fainted and fell into a coma."

Gui Di pondered his words, and realization flashed in his eyes. Looking at Feng Xiyan, he fell into deep thought.

’Could it be... he is the one who ended the Heavenly Dao of this small world?’

Noticing the slight change in his expression, Wu Ruizhan asked, "Little brother, do you know how to treat the Great General? Or... what had caused him to fall into a coma?"

Gui Di came out of his thoughts and replied, "I don’t know how to treat him, but I do know the cause of his condition."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun turned to him and asked urgently, "What is it? Can he be saved?"

Gui Di’s expression grew complicated. After a few seconds of hesitation, he said, "Fairy Bai, the cause of his condition is the backlash from killing the Heavenly Dao. Now, the evil spirits are consuming his soul and body as karmic retribution."

At his words, Bai Hanyun’s eyes widened in shock. She turned to look at Feng Xiyan, her voice trembling. "Why? Why would you do that?"

As she struggled to understand Feng Xiyan’s decision, Gui Di added, "Fairy Bai, if he hadn’t killed the Heavenly Dao, both of you would have died sooner or later. This was an unavoidable fate."

Knowing he was right, Bai Hanyun wiped her tears and looked at him. "Can you save him?"

Gui Di lowered his gaze, his voice tinged with regret. "Fairy Bai, I’m sorry. The only one who can save him now is my young master. But—"

Seeing his hesitation, Bai Hanyun pressed, "But what? Gui Di, if you know something, please tell me. I’m willing to do anything to save him. Please... I beg you."

Gui Di looked at her, then continued, "After the Heavenly Dao’s death, the boundary between this world and the Underworld Realm weakened. Because of this, the evil spirit slipped into this world and began corrupting it."

"To prevent this world’s destruction, my young master had no choice but to become the new Heavenly Dao. He has been gone for almost two months now, and no one knows where he is—or if he is still alive or not."

Bai Hanyun’s face turned ashen after listening to his explanation.

Turning to look at Feng Xiyan, her tears slid down as her heart shattered. Closing her eyes, she held Feng Xiyan’s hand tightly and cried in silence.

While everyone in the tent looked at Feng Xiyan with sorrow and helplessness, in the Celestial Realm, the Ancestor of the Gui Clan suddenly said, "It’s time."
